I notice that if my gps/3g is enabled, it doesn't show in the notification bar. Have I perhaps turned off something to show the notification, or does it mean GPS/3g isn't working? I use task killer, which I wonder is messing things up.

Alright well I got my Hero on release date(After going through 3 Pre's! ). Well so far I love it. Battery life has been just fine(And thats with the system at 100% lol), and the apps are amazing. But I have a question. I noticed there's two LED lights at the top of the phone. Yet I've only ever seen one light up! Is this how it is for everyone else? Only my left one lights up(green for texts, and amber for charging). And my friend's G1's Scroll Wheel also lights up, and was just wondering why ours doesn't.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI did a search but nothing came up regarding popups.I set an important meeting on my Hero calendar for yesterday afternoon with notification 15 minutes before.I didn't realize that it would be only a ringtone notification and not actually a pop-up telling me what is coming up.This is standard for blackberry calendar and Outlook and woud like to do this one my Hero as well.Is there any way to set up a pop up notification?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm pretty sure my Hero used to give me a beep when I got a new SMS, but it stopped at some point (a couple of weeks ago) and I haven't heard one since. I've tried re-setting the notification sound but it doesn't help.I'm getting other alerts (new mail, etc.) it's just SMS that doesn't play a sound. I've checked the volume level and it's set to the same as the phone ring level, which is fine. I'm wondering if I installed an app that killed it.

Had to disable the one notification supported by Handcent and now is only the default one on which when I click- the Handcent client appears. Once I quit from Handcent, the icon is still on status bar, altough I've read the sms and have to close it via "close notifications" button. How to get rid the default sms notification?

I sold my Nokia E71 and bought a Malaysian Hero (they're not available in NZ) and flashed a rooted generic firmware onto it. Very happy with the phone overall.I have a question though, I'm getting a sim card notification on the top bar thing and a blank notification entry in the pull down list. Clicking it doesn't do anything. The manual doesn't say what this means and I've found another person on XDA-Developers with the same thing. They are with the same carrier as me, Vodafone NZ.

It's been happening for a few months, it worked ok for the first 6 months I had the phone, I've tried numerous PCs and cables, but nothing has worked. I'm currently stuck on v1.5 of Android.I've contacted Orange, but they've just passed me on to HTC, can anyone help before I just give up and buy an iphone?!

View 5 Replies View RelatedAs the title says really, I cannot get my Hero to vibrate when I get a text message. In Messages > Settings > Vibrate, the option is ticked but even if I untick / restart / retick it still doesn't work. I've also tried pressing the volume button down to vibrate mode and back again but that makes no difference.I've even tried working with Handcent and yet I still cannot get the vibrate working. Everything else works such as the status bar notification but that's it.The vibrate part is definitely working for phone calls and other apps so I don't think that it's a hardware problem. Any idea what could be causing it? I'm using the latest official UK Orange ROM.

Is there a way I can know when I have new voicemail? on my iphone I had a dedicated voicemail button and it would have a red dot on it if I had new voicemail, I'm wondering if I could get something like this on the hero? The way it is now is I have to call the voicemail contact, and check for voicemail that way.

View 12 Replies View RelatedSo the one of the first thing i did when i got my hero was to stop the htc message service n went to chomp sms, awesome app. anyway i wanna change the notification / message sounds to something not in the default list. basically i wanna crop a music file on my phone and have it as a message tone like u can and i have done with my ring tone. i was expecting for there to be an option to chose what i set the tone as.
what i mean is, when ive cropped a file you get an option to 'set as ring tone' or set as 'contact tone'. no option for notification sounds. ive also played about in the chomp settings and i can only get a list up for default sounds. am i just being stupid and dont know where to look, or do i serioulsy have to keep the crap htc sounds? ive got a peter griffin soundboard, if i click n hold on a sound it pops up with set a tone and notification, and i can set that as my sound but i dont want that, i wanna crop a music file.
While on a call and I get a text there is nothing that notifies me of this ie..a tone or phone vibration.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi'm having an issue with my calendar notifications and looking for some help.i'm running the default calendar app that came with the phone and it is properly synched with my google calendar. the synching is working fine; in fact everything is great in that regard. the problem lies in that when i update something from my computer.say, i'm on my home pc and put in an event, even though it shows up in my phone, my phone does not give me a notification of the event.i have done a couple 'test events' and it appears that when i update an event from my phone, i get a notification.but when i update an event from my pc, my phone does not give me a notification.
