View 6 Replies View RelatedIn my gmail account i have "my contacts" that are synced to the phone, and in there i have most of the contacts with all sorts of info like, address, birthday, anniversary, website, and all that jazz. when i sync it to my phone, i only get basic info like address, number and email. the birthday, anniversary and website don't syn. why is that and how can i fix that? i would hate to go through my phone and edit all that info manually in the phone. also, i read somewhere that you can choose what contacts from gmail are synced. if you go into people, then groups, hit menu, and then sync group you can choose what is synced (all contacts, my contacts, and whatever groups you have). i had that option before, and now it is gone.

View 3 Replies View Relatedapologies if this has been covered before, but there are so many differing articles and threads on various websites and forums that I got fed up of trying to work things out. Having been away from my pc for a month whilst on holiday, I've not had chance to keep close tabs on Android issues, (and being on holiday I wasnt going to make special provisions anyway!) but here is the problem - Whilst I was away, I received two notifications on my HTC Hero (TMobile G2 Touch) that there was a new version of something or other, both of which which I downloaded, and both of which made my touchscreen very unresponsive at times. Presuming that this was the holy grail Android firmware update, I took it into my local TMobile store on getting back home to ask them if it was possible to remove the 'improvement'.The guy in there pointed out that there was a new Android firmware update available which when installed might resolve the issues, so he pressed a few buttons and started a download on my phone, told me to leave it running as it would take about half an hour, then restart the phone. However - the download wouldnt take effect as it needed 25mb free space to install and there was only 23mb available. After going home and wiping a few apps to leave the necessary space, I cant find this download anywhere.Has anyone got any idea where it might be?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to get owner info on the lockscreen? For example, I'd like it to read "If found, please return this phone to MyName. Phone: xxx-xxx-xxxx, Email: MyName@gmail.com". Can this be done with the stock HTC lockscreen? Are there others that are as secure, but provide this extra functionality? I'm rooted, if that makes a difference.
View 18 Replies View Relatedeven though I dont use this myself as we have the app on the Hero I decided to follow HTC (although I dont check all the time as its mostly U.S stuff) anyway I just took a look and it says that there is a software update on 3 and that was posted 36 mins ago.Gonna check the 3 site now and see what its about.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAs you can see from my sig below, I'm a longtime PalmOS user. webOS has some nice features, but unfortunately the PIM apps are a major step backward from the PalmOS versions. SO, now I'm considering switching from webOS to Android and the Sprint Hero. The key for me is finding some detailed description or screenshots or video that show how to create events in the Android calendar and how to manage tasks. I really need a step-by-step explanation so that I can judge whether Android will be more efficient than webOS in using the calendar. I do like what HTC has done with Sense and Scenes, which would help me keep my calendar more easily accessible than in webOS.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've tried a bunch of my own images as my lock screen, all set at what I've been told is the correct resolution, but they always come out looking pixelated, dull and blurry. The images look extremely crisp and bright when i preview them in the lock-screen selection area - but when saved, there's a huge difference in quality. The resolution which fits perfectly is 320x455, but pretty much everyone online says its 320x480 which I know to be wrong because you can see it clearly doesn't fit the screen when you're selecting it - and so it gets resized up.I've tried JPG, PNG, TIF.I've tried different sample rates, different color pallettes - nothing works.Even using the default HTC one (which looked gorgeous originally) - whenever I apply it now, it looks like it went through some 60% JPG compression.artifacts all over the place.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an issue that I assume is consistent with all Android 2.1 phones. However, for consistency's sake: I have a HTC Hero. Some of my Contacts who are linked to Facebook have duplicate numbers (because one begins with a '1' and the other does not, or they are separated by '.' instead of '-')Also, some of my contacts list fake or old numbers on Facebook and my phone wants to call them or text those by default. (or sometimes on accident - human error).I wish I could have an option to edit these or mark them as "not shown" on my phone so I don't have to double check which number I am calling, texting or emailing to make sure Im using the right number or email address. The only option I've found is to remove the Facebook link, which is a lame workaround and leads me to forget birthdays.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAbout Donut and Eclair as follows. When are Donut and Eclair released? What is the main features of Donut and Eclair?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWill donut be available for the mytouch 3g or just the g1?
View 2 Replies View RelatedApp is called Tasker. It should be visible in all Donut+ devices but it's only actually visible in Eclair+ devices. Tested on my G1, reported by other users (devices unknown).
Manifest:
<uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="4" android:targetSdkVersion="4" />
A dump from the compiled apk confirms that.
Here's the top of my Ant output:
Buildfile: build.xml [setup] Android SDK Tools Revision 6 [setup] Project Target: Android 1.6 [setup] API level: 4 [setup] Importing rules file: platforms/android-1.6/ant/ ant_rules_r2.xml
Copy protect is set to off.
And the app works fine when installed on a Donut device outside the market.
I noticed that appbrain also reports it as 2.0 and higher: http://www.appbrain.com/app/net.dinglisch.android.taskerm

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm getting reports from users about force closes in my app after the donut OTA. One of them was kind enough to send me a logcat which included these two gems (right after he installed it from market):
10-02 15:56:35.708 D/PackageManager(71): New package installed in / data/app/com.billnapier.android.livebookmarks.apk 10-02 15:56:35.708 W/PackageManager( 71): Unknown permission com.android.browser.permission.READ_HISTORY_BOOKMARKS in package com.billnapier.android.livebookmarks 10-02 15:56:35.708 W/PackageManager( 71): Unknown permission android.permission.READ_HISTORY_BOOKMARKS in package com.billnapier.android.livebookmarks
The second one makes sense, since that name has gone away. But I can't figure out why the first one would show up, since that permission should exist on the phone. anybody got any clues? I can't reproduce this on my phone, so it's kinda hard to debug.
Does anyone know how to change a build from donut back down to cupcake? I tried changing the release target minsdkversion back to 3 but it still would only launch in the donut rather than cupcake emulators and showed the Android 1.6 rather than Android 1.5.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe Donut VoiceDialer is far from ideal for in-car use because it requires users to confirm their selection by tapping on the screen. My idea is to enhance it so that it can be hands-free from start to finish.I was looking at VoiceDialerActivity.java and the most interesting part is the function onRecognitionSuccess(), which starts at line 383.We could modify it so that if there is more than one item, it reads the items out loud and then does another recognition cycle among those items.
