View 5 RepliesAnyone else have screen issues with a different brand charger? I use a blackberry at work and it seems when I use that one, it is the only time I lose all screen functionality. It starts going haywire. If I touch the A key, it will select the N or something completely off the wall. If I unplug it, wait about 60 seconds, it works again. Wonder if anyone else has an issue with other brand chargers? Going to toss this one but thought I'd let people know in case they run into the same issue.
View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone else's touch screen become unresponsive when the Epic is being charged? My touch screen gets glitchy and only responds to a fraction of touches.
I just received mine yesterday and I've already spent more than 6 hours trying to troubleshoot this issue. Most of the google searches that I've found have to do with cheap 3rd party chargers, but I'm using the OEM Samsung charger.
I thought it might be the charger, so I went out and purchased 4 different chargers today, but none of them fix the issue.
I also ordered another Epic for my wife at the same time, and her Epic has the same problem, which suggests that it's not a defective phone (unless they both came from the same batch).
To confuse things even more, I've been able to isolate 2-3 outlets in the house where this problem doesn't happen. The problem also doesn't happen when I charge at work, through a car charger, or via USB from the laptop.
I'm inclined to think it has something to do with the outlets in the house. However, I've never heard of any issue like that and the house is relatively new (built in '98).
Droid 2.0.1 screenmodewidget 'awake stay' not working (is supposed to disable lock screen)
mylock also has problems. Anyone (ON DROID!) found an app or widget that disables lock screen that works without problems?
is there an app that disables the unlock screen after i press the top power button? (i hate having to currently press the power button and then swipe down every time i want to use the device)

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had my hero 4 months now and Love the phone...But a few weeks ago certain programs where it says press to start would not work. I have to use the small roller ball on the bottom. I press and press but nothing happens. This is with a few programs such as the RAC app. I have reset, cleaned the screen etc!. The screen touch works in that area as I can use keyboard. My girl friends hero and friends seem so much better, keyboard is easier ti use aalso. I've callibrated etc and nothing!. Is it broke?
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust 3 days ago my Hero started to not work properly. Touch screen (in the bottom, keys 7-8-9 of numerical keyboard) seems to be not completely sensitive and sometimes it doesn't work at all in that zone.
The curious thing is the phone starts working properly after using it for a couple of hours. If the device is in stand-by mode for a long time (i.e. during the night) the issue occurs. Has anyone had a similar problem or know of a solution?
Morning, I dropped my HTC Hero yesterday, and although it has a tough silicon case on it unfortunately the screen has cracked top right. At first I thought it was a hair on my screen, but hairs normally blow away So you can get an idea of how thin this crack it. It goes from top left to center left.
While this doesn't seem to have had any impact on the use of the phone (for example, touch sensitivity still works in that area and the screen is perfectly usable) I'd like to replace it.
Now this phone is under a business contract account with Orange UK, but if my employer doesn't have insurance for it what options are there to replace it? I've seen there are 2 parts, the actual LCD screen and then the touch overlay on the top. I don't believe the LCD screen is damaged since it would be far worse, it just looks like the glass has cracked. Can this be replaced?
Just a quick question about the Captivate. I just got myself an HTC Aria and I love how easy it is to use the touch screen on it. Its extremely responsive. Now my sister has the SamSung Instinct on Sprint and the touch screen is horrible compared to HTCs touch on the Aria. Im thinking about taking the HTC back to AT&T and getting the Samsung Captivate. I am just worried about the touch screen on it and if it will be like the Instincts? If the touch is as good as HTCs Ill get it. If its not, then Ill stick with the Aria because despite its size, its an extremely fun and responsive phone. Any thoughts?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI very recently got my HTC Hero and everything was working fine until a few days ago. For some reason, my phone does not respond fully when I click on certain hyperlinks. For instance, I can type in a google search, but I can't click on any of the results, but I can click on the "Options" tab next to each hyperlink. As I click on these links, they will become underlined, but nothing happens. I tried a factory reset on calibration and that did not work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my hero for about 10 days now. So far I am loving it way more than my old winmo phone. That said, I find that the screen is just not nearly as touch sensitive as my ipod touch and im kind of disappointed. I have to press things sometimes 2 or 3 times to get it go. Especially in the corners
1. I did do the text alignment delay
2. I have a screen protector. Its a $20 Invisible Shield by ZAGG that is off the shelf. Could that be causing the slow and unresponsive screen? What do you guys use?
3. Does the hero really NEED a screen protector? I previously had an HTC touch DIAMOND and i didn't use a screen protector evre and it got scratched up to HELL. Just for reference, I used my ipod almost in the same way (in and out of jeans pocket, not with keys, etc) and it didn't scratch AT ALL.Any way to improve this would make me way less disappointed here.
Sometimes the touchscreen is just fine, but other times it falls in sensitivity.I find myself have to press down hard on the screen in order for it to recognize the touch. This has been the case both with or without a screen protector.Anyone else experience this? Can this be improved in any way by the future 2.1 update?

View 7 Replies View RelatedFirst post here. I've tried searching for this issue but have come up with nothing, so if it's been posted, please point me in the right direction.I've had my Hero since January (Sprint) and this only came up in the last couple of days. About a week ago (05/28/10) my Hero froze and Sprint issued me a new phone which they updated to 2.1. On Thursday (06/03/10) I noticed the sound when I use my touch screen is much louder than it used to be. I'm almost positive the new phone wasn't quite this loud when I first got it. The sound I'm talking about is not the 'tone' sound as I've disabled that, but the 'ticking' sound when you launch an app or shortcut. Does this make sense? Does anybody know what I'm talking about? Is there a way to make this sound quieter? I'd rather not disable it completely as I like a little bit of feedback that a button has been hit.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know this has been asked on other forums... but wanted it specifically for the Hero... how well does the application work with a touch screen?
I know 4 bucks isn't a lot... but meh... I'd rather make sure it works first.
Ad I have to ask for the sake of asking... sheer curiosity killed the cat.
Jail breaking an ipod lets you get apps for free... putting a rom on your phone doesn't make apps free for us does it? (not that I'm looking for free... just curious)
I had an InvisibleSHIELD for my old Blackberry and I loved it for its durability. I was thinking about putting one on my new Sprint HTC Hero, but I remember it having kind of a tacky, gummy, sticky feel to it...kind of resistant to sliding your finger over it smoothly. That doesn't matter to me whatsoever when I'm not using a touch screen, but has anyone used one on a Hero? I don't want to buy one and find out it makes my phone harder to use.Specifically, I've just gotten pretty good at using SlideIT (wish I could try Swype), and I have a feeling that with an InvisibleSHIELD it will be much harder to accurately move my finger to the right spots on the screen at the right times. Has anyone had any experience with this?
View 17 Replies View RelatedAlmost every day when I wake up I check my phone and 9 times out of 10 the touch screen does not work. I cannot make a call or check anything. I have to push a lot of buttons and take out the battery and generally wait a while before my expensive phone to start to work. Is there a fix for this? I've already had to go to sprit to do a hard reset because the phone got, "kicked off the network" for some reason the sprint people could not explain. Any solution for the screen issue?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have posted this here because you guys helped me root my Hero with Villain ROM 12, and I wondered if there was a connection...
Since rooting the phone has worked fine for 2+ months, however I now have a MAJOR problem, in that the touch screen is behaving very erratically.
It started with the lower menu bar (All programs, phone and + ) not responding. Now if I touch any icon the phone button goes green, or the phone screen comes up, however I cannot enter any numbers! Sometimes I get a random icon flashing round the screen and I can steer it with my finger, but not activate it!
My concern is that if a have to do a re-set or reinstall, I may not be able to do a backup first, as the relevant keys wont respond. Does anybody have any ideas? Might a re-install of the ROM help?
My G2 Touch refuses to boot up and stays stuck in the initial logo screen. I removed the battery and switched it back on holding down the VOL DOWN button. The display shows:

Is there such a thing for the HTC desire? also, is there a app that lets you see how many multi touch points the htc desire has? i saw some youtube vids where that have this app and they put as many fingers as they can on the screen and scribble around.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAnyone know if I can do a hard reset w/o the touchscreen?
I drowned my Sprint Hero in Diesel fuel last week, & before I return it to Asurion / Sprint I'd like to erase all of my personal data from the phone. The trackball & keys work most of the time, but I can't seem to click or highlight the "erase everything" button. Touchscreen is totally non functional.
I have a third-party micro-USB charger that I bought in an airport once for my Tour. When I plug it into my EVO, the screen becomes unresponsive. I'm not using the charger for now. Is this charger potentially causing damage to my phone?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI ordered a combo kit from amazon, very cheap. I know some chargers lock up the screen, but this one had a review from someone with an Inc. saying it was fine. Anyway, wall charger locks screen, but shows it is charging, led lights up. Car charger works fine, no screen locking up.
So... am I doing any damage to my phone using wall one? Was thinking I would just use overnight when phone is off. Anyone else using one that locks phone?
I can always just toos wall one, and keep the car one, still great deal for the $4 is spent.
When I plug my phone into the charger the screen comes on and never turns off. Is this happening to anyone else ? It isn't a huge deal because it is on the charger but kind of annoying.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a new droid for $20 haha lucky i think until i notice that the touch screen only works for the middle of the screen to the left so if yu cut the screen into thirds only the middle and left work assuming that yu cut it from top to bottom with the lights at the bottom for the home button etc. I opened it up cleaned all the flex cable with alcohol and waited for it to dry and it still does the same thing so my question is = do i need a new digitizer or is it a software problem or something that i dont even know?
