When I plug my phone into the charger the screen comes on and never turns off. Is this happening to anyone else ? It isn't a huge deal because it is on the charger but kind of annoying.

I was messaging around today and found where to shut of the screen while charging, but I wanted to turn it back on and can't find where it is? Also before the update I could have sworn there was an option on the screen timeout to set it to never. Now I don't have that option.

If an app could be developed that maintains this voltage, the screen could be at a constant voltage, and not dim, ever.Has anyone heard of an app like this, and, if not, is there anyone interested in developing this?I am sure a lot of people (like myself) would be willing to donate for a program like this.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I realized after getting a calendar reminder, the lock screen just stays on until you dismiss it. So then I checked by just turning the EVO without a reminder to see if the lock screen would shut down and the backlight just stays on that way as well.. Can others test this out and see if there screen shuts off or is there a separate setting for the lock screen?
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is a new issue I am having; I've had my Eris since December and had no problems with it. My phone is no longer going to sleep itself. I set the 'Screen Time Out' all the way down to 15 seconds but if I don't hit the end button to manually put it to sleep, it would never sleep. This is really frustrating because since I was used to not having to do that, I'll put it in my pocket without hitting the end button and end up clicking a lot of stuff with my bottom.What is this problem? I've not downloaded any applications as of the last month and I use a task killer every time I put the phone down.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen you put the phone up to your face while talking i know it has the sensor that shuts off the screen, my question is does anyone else seem like it hesistates a while after you take the phone off your ear? If i call a number that requires me to enter numbers it seems like it takes a good 3 or 4 seconds for the screen to turn back on. I know it doesnt seem like a lot but some of these calls if you dont enter the number right away they start asking questions over then i do hit a number and its the wrong one so its a pain in the a$$. I came from a palm pre which was virtually instantaneous once i took the phone off my ear. So i guess im wondering if this is a problem with just my phone or all moments and is there a fix for it?
View 9 Replies View RelatedThis is a problem I've noticed lately that is just killing my battery life. My Incredible never dims on its own. If I press the power button the screen will shut off but lets say I get a text and then I hit the power button, the screen comes on. I respond to the text and then hit home and put my phone down on the desk. The screen will stay on indefinitely. Not charging, completely unplugged the screen will just stay on. Has anyone run accross this and does anyone have any ideas on how to get it to time out again?

Over the past two days I've had a recurring problem with my Moment - the screen no longer shuts off when I press the Off or End Call button. This is a pain because buttons end up being pressed when I slip the phone in to my pocket. I'm running the official 2.1 update and have been since the week after it came out, and I haven't had this problem before. I can't seem to figure it out. The button still works to turn the screen on, and will still turn of the screen if it's at the lock screen, but at the home screen or in an app, nothing happens when pressing the button. This was a little awkward today when the body heat through my shorts opened up my Alarm Clock app and started playing the various alarm clock ringtones!

Actually its with my wife's phone, we both have Moments, mine works great but hers frequently (not all the time) doesn't shut off during phone calls. At first I thought she was just holding it strange but I have seen it for myself and its quite frustrating. The biggest issue is that its an intermittent problem so of course it never happens when at the Sprint store asking about replacing the phone. I did the recent update to the phone and it still does it. Any way to fix this short of getting a new one?

I mean, REALLY! Yes, I own up to being a newbie Android user, and what I don't know could fill the Library of Congress. Still, this is common sense we're talking about here. I've done some industrial app development and Enter/Exit, On/Off are basic pieces of logic in the main loop of an program in any language.
The only reason that we phone users need task killer apps is because you developers insist on creating apps that don't know when the f**k to turn themselves off.
And, it seems to me like you, the app developers, are one of the main reason why these phones have such crappy battery life. I mean, my Samsung Instinct, as bad as it was, got 18 to 24 hours of life off of one charge. With the Hero, I'm lucky if I can get 10 hours, and that's even with configuring my email download to only three times per day!
This is not hard, people. You code the app to stay off until, I, the user, manually turn it on. AND, you also code it to turn off when I, the user, hit the back button.
Yes, I understand that there are certain apps that it is advantageous to keep running in the background. So, fine, make it so those keep running. BUT, there is no possible reason for apps like Flashlight, or BBC News, or Camera, or SprintTV to have to run all the time in the background!
I am so tempted to just trash the lot of you. If I did, maybe I might not have as much functionality, but my teenager would be able to reach me late in the day because my phone battery would still have juice.
I have had my Droid for almost a month now and i love it,,, but there are a couple of really annoying things that it does, and i was wondering if it was just me, or if anyone else has these problems too...
I will hit the unlock button on the top and start to do my pattern, and all the sudden, it says that i lifted my finger... and takes two tries out....
I will hit the unlock button and start my pattern and the screen will shut off like there is no activity and i will have to hit the unlock button again, and start over.
Oh and how about this, tried both handcent and stock messaging app, i regularly have periods of long delay from both receiving and sending text messages, i will be sending one text and get a text sending overload message also.... then i will have periods of sending and receiving the exact same text 10-15 times in a row.... this happens all of the time and its extremely annoying....
I have a third-party micro-USB charger that I bought in an airport once for my Tour. When I plug it into my EVO, the screen becomes unresponsive. I'm not using the charger for now. Is this charger potentially causing damage to my phone?

Anyway, wall charger locks screen, but shows it is charging, led lights up. Car charger works fine, no screen locking up.
So... am I doing any damage to my phone using wall one? Was thinking I would just use overnight when phone is off. Anyone else using one that locks phone?
I can always just toos wall one, and keep the car one, still great deal for the $4 is spent.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had my Evo for less than a week. When I bought it, the Sprint guy gave me an extra wall charger that he had lying around. I used it a couple of times and a few days ago, the screen started freaking out without me even touching it, selecting things toward the bottom of the screen. Most notably, if this happened from the home screen, it would select "Phone" and call whoever was at the top of the list. NOT COOL, let me tell you. This would happen mostly when on that charger, but occasionally even when not, usually when I unlock it for the first time in a while. After a few seconds, it stops and goes back to normal.
Anyway, so I did some research and I think this was caused by the extra charger, which turned out to be a Kyocera one. I've stopped using it, hoping that would fix the problem. But it happened again today and I'm sort of worried. I want to know if this is doomed to keep happening or this will go away eventually.

The house charger that came with my phone in the box works perfect. I plug it in and the phone shows charging and then the screen goes out after the 30 seconds I have it set for while its charging.
I bought a Rocketfish charger from BB to have an extra one I can leave downstairs. When I charge the phone with it, after about 5 minutes the screen lights up on my phone and stays lit until I unplug the charger. Then the phone will go back out like it should.
I though there might be a difference so my nephew gave me his home charger he dont need. Its the charger sprint sent him by mistake for his phone. He has the Blackberry and they sent him the micro-usb wall charger. He gave it to me and when I plug my phone in with that charger the screen lights up and never goes out until I unplug the charger. I dont want to mess up the phone and was just wondering if there is still a difference with the chargers even though they are all micro-usb chargers?
Does anyone else's touch screen become unresponsive when the Epic is being charged? My touch screen gets glitchy and only responds to a fraction of touches.
I just received mine yesterday and I've already spent more than 6 hours trying to troubleshoot this issue. Most of the google searches that I've found have to do with cheap 3rd party chargers, but I'm using the OEM Samsung charger.
I thought it might be the charger, so I went out and purchased 4 different chargers today, but none of them fix the issue.
I also ordered another Epic for my wife at the same time, and her Epic has the same problem, which suggests that it's not a defective phone (unless they both came from the same batch).
To confuse things even more, I've been able to isolate 2-3 outlets in the house where this problem doesn't happen. The problem also doesn't happen when I charge at work, through a car charger, or via USB from the laptop.
I'm inclined to think it has something to do with the outlets in the house. However, I've never heard of any issue like that and the house is relatively new (built in '98).
Anyone else have screen issues with a different brand charger? I use a blackberry at work and it seems when I use that one, it is the only time I lose all screen functionality. It starts going haywire. If I touch the A key, it will select the N or something completely off the wall. If I unplug it, wait about 60 seconds, it works again. Wonder if anyone else has an issue with other brand chargers? Going to toss this one but thought I'd let people know in case they run into the same issue.

View 29 Replies View RelatedI am using the OEM charger on my Dinc and nothing else. I randomly get a message something like, "The charger you are using is not compatible with your device. Remove the charger now to avoid damage to your phone". I have not used anything other than the OEM charger ever. It isn't loose or frayed or bent strangely. It also seems to charge even though the message pops up. For now, I'm using my computer's USB port to charge it but man, that's SLOOOOOOOOW. It has done it since I first got the phone and before I had even installed my first app. It also does it after a factory reset and reprogram. Customer service is sending an aftermarket wall charger free of charge until I can get an OEM unit as they are obviously out of stock.
View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday when I was going to sleep, I had my phone plugged in when I received a text. I attempted to unlock the phone, and it wouldn't! I started freaking out a bit, finally was able to unlock it, but had a tough time replying using the keyboard. It seemed the screen was spazzing out. When I unplugged the phone, everything was fine. I installed the free Paint application and ran some tests. As can be seen, using a charger that outputs > 850mA (the stock charger's value) is no good for touch sensitivity. If anyone can chime in with other concerns, that would be very helpful. I find that the 1000mA charger definitely charges the phone faster; does anyone think that this is bad for the phone (aside from the screen issue)?
I misread the stock charger's amperage initially; I thought it was 250mA, which is why I'm using the 1000mA. I think for now I'll switch to the stock charger. I would like to use the 1000mA if any other users think that would be fine. I don't have a problem unplugging it to use it.
I have a samsung vibrant. Every time i plug it in its charger, the lock screen will not lock amd if m doing something, the sensitivity of the screen will be thrown of. It doesn't do that if i plug,it,in a computer usb, it doesn't,do that and charges normally. Is that a wide spread issue.

I have a thread running which gets the power-save message, removes callbacks for all other threads, puts the phone into airplane mode, and waits a specified number of minutes before waking the phone back up.
When the phone is plugged into my laptop (USB debugging enabled, etc) then this functionality is fine. The phone goes into airplane mode, the screen locks, and then after a specific number of minutes the app "wakes up" and continues as normal.
When the phone is plugged into a car charger, the phone phone goes into airplane mode, but the thread never wakes up the phone. This problem only occurs when the screen is also set to timeout...when I set the screen to "never timeout" and have the phone plugged into a car charger, the app wakes up just fine.
It appears that some combination of power source and the screen timing out kills my power-save thread at a system level. I know this post is very specific to my application, but has anyone encountered a problem similar to this before?
