View 2 Replies View RelatedBefore I even rooted my phone, my charger was having issues charging. At the end of the part that goes into the phone, the black cord fell back and the wires are exposed. It's been like this since late March/April. I'd have to mess with angling the phone in order for it to charge, but once it did, it was solid. I rooted my phone thursday night and put fresh on it. Then yesterday I decided that it wasn't fast enough and I jumped from CM6 to PureHero. All the while it charged, but I still had to mess with it. Now that I've left it on PureHero (although overall, I still haven't found a satisfactory ROM) my phone won't charge at all. Like, when I finally CAN get the light to glow orange, it'll be stuck at the same percentage. I woke up at like 3 in the morning and discovered this so I kept the battery out for the remainder of the night, woke up and put it back in but it's still stuck at the same percentage. Is it the ROM I'm using? Did I fry my battery somehow? Or is it solely the charger? I want to know before I go and buy a new batter/charger.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWas wondering if theres any way to get the fast charge that you get from the wall charger to work with a usb from computer charge. I know its "slower charge" because the computer also allows data transfer and mounting of the sd card, but maybe theres a possible way to shut that off? Also, would a double USB port cord that are used for external hard drives improve charge time at all? Two normal sized USB coming from computer to the miniUSB port on hero.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI posted a thread about my battery life earlier this week, and I thank all the for the help! Here is another issue I am having that may be related. My phone takes forever to charge. Example: used my phone heavily this morning from 5:30 am till around 9am. Came home, battery was down to 15% or so. Plugged it into the AC charger around 10am, went outside and mowed the yard, etc. Finally checked the phone around 4pm, and it was still charging. Battery was showing 90% or so. Shouldn't it fully charge in around 2 hours or less? I did some research and found some people having charging issues after they upgraded to 2.1, which I did right after I got the phone. I did check with my local RS where I got the phone, and the guy I spoke with has a Hero, and his does not do this. He suggested I go to a Sprint store and have them look at it.

View 6 Replies View Relatedat what stage do you decide to recharge the battery? I know from other phones, MP3 Players etc, that some people say to let the Charge go completely so they wait until it dies before charging while others go for say 60, 40 per cent or so.Is there a set standard that the Manufacturers recommend and what are your own personal likings please?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhat is the best method to charge your battery.I tend to let it drain completely and them fully recharge .Posts I've read stated that you should NOT do this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently received my Hero's upgrade to 2.1 and have been very happy with the Google Navigation software! However, it's an obviously big drain on the battery, what with requiring GPS and all, so I bought a generic USB car charger from eBay for 99p. It does indeed charge the phone, but not fast enough! I even get an error on the screen telling me that the charge is not enough to stop my battery level falling.
So my question is, are all usb chargers the same? I notice it's also a very slow charge from the PC too and takes a few hours to charge the phone, whereas it only takes 45 mins or so from a wall socket. Can anyone confirm that if I spent ?20 on a 'decent' car charger it will charge fast enough to actually charge the phone while using Google Navigation?..............
I am having a real pain in the butt trying to mount my Hero via my incar USB port, it reads the same SD card when it's inserted into the car with an adapter onit's own, so I know it's not the card, it seems to be a problem with the delay in the Hero switching the SD card to "Disk drive", I find that if I pull the USB lead out of the car then quickly reinsert it, the SD card then gets seen and I can play music.
This is the same on both mt wifes Nissan and my Honda, so it's not the car readers, I downloaded "Automount" as others reported that that shows up instantly as a simple external drive, but that still did not work, and as the 2.1 now has a choice of default mounting options on inserting a USB cable, I thought thet would have done the same anyway.
Has anybody found a workaround that lets android phones play music in thier cars ?
This has been an issue that's been bugging me the last few days now. The stock wall charger that came with my Droid X is the 5PN5504A, which has an output rating of 5.1V, 850mA. My understanding is that the mini-USB interface is an industry standard for power delivery to portable devices, which I take to mean that any charge source should work (wall charger, desktop PC, laptop) as long it has uses an USB interface. So any USB-->miniUSB cable can be used to charge any mini-usb device, regardless of power source, right?
I already have several other mini-usb devices, such as bluetooth headsets, which all came with their own wall chargers. However, I checked these chargers, and they all have different outputs: 5V @ 200mA, 5V @ 150mA, 5V @ 550mA. Because the default Droid X cable was so short, I was tempted to use these other chargers. I plugged in the 5V@150mA charger to my Droid X, and found that the phone does not show it's charging (the lighting bolt isn't there, there's no animation on the battery indicator). So then I switched to the 5V@550mA charger, and it DOES charge....................
I read some things in a search about GPS working overseas, but my question is more on the lines of other apps. Such as translator, Where, text to speak, weather. Basically Im going to Italy soon and want to know if any of these things will work while Im over there to help me along and not be charge some extra fee. I dont plan to make any calls with it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have significantly improved my battery life over the past few days by changing two simple settings....email and wifi.
Email first -
I have accounts set up on the Hero with Yahoo, GMail and Hotmail. When I looked, the Yahoo was checking every 15 minutes. GMail every hour and Hotmail once per day. As I am often in front of a PC with email open, this seemed like overkill.
So, I altered all three accounts to check only once each day automatically.
I also switch my wifi connection on as soon as I get home and leave it connected until I go to bed. I've now started turning this off when I'm not actively using it.
Here's my non-scientific results:
Getting up at 6:30am each day and using the Hero as normal before altering these settings would get the battery charge down to 25% at best by 11pm when I put it back on charge. It would often be less than 25%.
After changing the settings as above, my battery usually stays over 85% until probably early evening. My usage goes up when I get home from work quite a bit though and yet by 11pm, I still haven't seen the charge less than 65% yet.
Does anyone know of a workaround to avoid TMobile (UK) voicemail charges? Someone suggested I set my own number to dial and collect voicemail and it would be free....but it still charges me Just wondering if other Tmobile UK users had found a way to avoid the charges?

When I charge it with the cable that came with it, it charges fine. But if I charge it with the Moments cable, it doesn't charge. The battery icon is animated as if it's charging and Spare Parts reports that it's charging, but the battery level continues to fall as if it's not plugged in.

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo, when you guys put your phone on the charger do you charge it for a long time like overnight or just for a few hours in the morning or during the day until the green light comes on? Also, when you are charging it do you just put it to sleep and have it charge that way, or do you do a full power off and charge it that way?
