Jul 19, 2010This has been an issue that's been bugging me the last few days now. The stock wall charger that came with my Droid X is the 5PN5504A, which has an output rating of 5.1V, 850mA. My understanding is that the mini-USB interface is an industry standard for power delivery to portable devices, which I take to mean that any charge source should work (wall charger, desktop PC, laptop) as long it has uses an USB interface. So any USB-->miniUSB cable can be used to charge any mini-usb device, regardless of power source, right?
I already have several other mini-usb devices, such as bluetooth headsets, which all came with their own wall chargers. However, I checked these chargers, and they all have different outputs: 5V @ 200mA, 5V @ 150mA, 5V @ 550mA. Because the default Droid X cable was so short, I was tempted to use these other chargers. I plugged in the 5V@150mA charger to my Droid X, and found that the phone does not show it's charging (the lighting bolt isn't there, there's no animation on the battery indicator). So then I switched to the 5V@550mA charger, and it DOES charge....................

May 24, 2010it works perfectly fine with main charge and usb charge and now it won't charge whatsoever no matter how i try. i did the factory reset on my x10. still it wont charge. btw when i turn off my x10 first, then connects it to the power. it would turn on my phone like others but just wont charge.

Oct 5, 2010Just got the EVO last Friday. It replaces a Samsung Moment that died a horrible death.
When I charge it with the cable that came with it, it charges fine. But if I charge it with the Moments cable, it doesn't charge. The battery icon is animated as if it's charging and Spare Parts reports that it's charging, but the battery level continues to fall as if it's not plugged in.

Jun 13, 2010I am running 3g even though i am in 4g area. I turn my wifi off even though i have wireless at my house. I have the cdma auto thing on. Yet i am still only getting 5 hours max off charge with my phone. What gives? I do have GPS enabled on all the time but that should not matter. I love my phone no matter what, but this battery shit is pissing me off. My HTC touch can go 2 days with no charge and still be able to make a phone call. HTC EVO not even 5 hours before it dies.

Aug 18, 2010My phone is almost unusable when its on the charger. my lock screen doesn't like to unlock, my keyboard goes completely nuts. doesn't matter if its the house charger or the car charger or connected to the computer, it gets really unresponsive. it really pisses me off. i have done at least 3 hard resets in the past 3 weeks and it doesn't help. im starting to think it may be launcher pro or something. anyone else have a problem like this while charging?

Aug 3, 2010I haven't seen this issue reported anywhere else so here it goes. I just updated my phone to froyo last night and had no apparent issues. When I woke up I noticed that despite charging the phone overnight the battery was dead. I was able to start the phone up with the charger plugged in. This is when I found out that the battery won't receive a charge. I have tried using the standard plug as well as plugging the usb cable into the computer; no dice. The lightning bolt on the top right of the screen is there, but the green slice on the battery that constantly recycles is stuck. I tried a master reset on the phone and that didn't work either. Anyone else encounter this issue? Any ideas how to fix it? I bought my phone at Best Buy, and of course they are all sold out in the area, so it will be a major pain getting a replacement (I'm within the 30 day window).

Aug 4, 2010So today my USB breaks so the phone doesn't charge without putting some torque on the cable (I'm sure the USB jack has pulled off the motherboard). Should I live with the hassle until 2.2 is rooted, or return the phone for a replacement and risk that they will force an update to stock 2.2? I'm assuming I'd have to return to stock before taking phone in for service, too (and just after I finished getting everything setup after updating to rooted Froyo).

Jun 18, 2010Bought one of those 1A car chargers from Ebay that have been much talked about on the forums. Very happy with it, until today. Tootling along with sat nav on, and Google girl robotically jibberjabbering at me, when I noticed the phone had stopped charging. Charge was about 60% so it wasn't full. Looked at the charger socket and the charging light had gone out then looked at phone and it no longer had the charging indicator on the battery.
I unplugged the charger from the phone and lo and behold the light on the socket charger came back on indicating it was ready to charge. So I plugged it back into the phone and the light went out again! Seems as if sometimes the phone wont let itself be charged? I don't the thing the charger is at fault as it has been working fine, and looks ok when I disconnect the phone from it.

Jun 29, 2010I've searched the forums and cant find an answer or reason, but my phone wont charge either through the wall charger or through my computer.I plug it in and it says plug in your charger, and the light wont turn on. My computer says that the phone is unrecognized. This all came about yesterday when I flashed BB V.3.Froyo. I was running chevys 1.2Ghz kernel with every other rom and have had no issues. I tried a recovery, and switching kernels, and even pulling the battery but nothing has seemed to fix the issue.

Jul 27, 2010I got my HTC Desire on Contract from o2 on the 24th June.ive now found today that the charger wire cant be in certain angles in order for the phone to charge. For example the phone would charge when faced down, but not charge when faced up.Im assuming its the charging socket in the phone thats going wrong.Went to o2 store, who say i need to send it off to repair because im outside of the 28 days. this could take anything up to three weeks.

May 30, 2010I was using my DI as a GPS today, in a mount on the windshield, and had it plugged in the whole time. It was about 90 degrees outside and I had the AC blasting in my car as I drove along the highway.....I noticed after a while that the bolt in the battery display was missing, meaning it wasn't getting charged, and that at the same time the notification LED was alternating between orange and green. I couldn't figure out why it wasn't charging anymore, but after I changed the vent in my car from forward to indirect (there is a vent that shoots air upward right below the mount, coincidentally) it cooled down and started charging again.

Oct 25, 2010I own an EVO - when I connect it to my Dell Vostro laptop it charges without any problems whatsoever. When I attempt to charge it from my work laptop (Dell Latitude) it never charges. I am not changing any settings, just simply unplugging it from the Vostro and then plugging it into the Latitude.
