Does anyone else have really bad battery life on xtrROM 4.6? I have window animations turned off, have brightness down to like 35% and my battery life is still really bad.
Also on a maybe related note, I only have like 40 MB of internal storage available and I only have like 15 or so apps.
I haven't enabled any of the gscripts yet either.

I was curious as to what settings people were using on their phone and home launchers (pro or otherwise) to extend battery life on xtrROM. Right now I'm getting pretty crappy battery life, but I'm pretty sure the culprits are all animations and live wall papers. Just want to get a feel for what other things I can give up to keep the things that I enjoy (and yes I enjoy the LWP and animations).
Unrelated question, is any harm done to the phone by keeping USB debugging off? I had to turn it on to use SetCPU.
I'm currently running xtrsense but am curious about xtrrom and some of the extra features that it has (ie. live wallpapers). I'm currently running a2sd and cache2sd and wondering if all my apps and associated data will still be there and accessible once I run the gscript to turn their features on in xtrROM after wiping my phone and installing? Or should I turn a2sd and cache2sd off while still running Sense so that everything comes back to the phone's internal memory, back them up with Titanium, and turn apps and cache2sd back on once I do the ROM switch?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI'm rooted via the 'rooting for dummies' for two days now. I've had my eris since this spring and was happy until recently my OTA2.1 dialer lag was infuriating. Rooted, started with PlainJaneT2. SO MUCH BETTER! Now using latest xtrROM. EVEN BETTER (imo)! Tempted to try KaosFroyo but there's no browser flash yet? I'll play with xtrROM for awhile longer. do you use setcpu w/ xtrROM. I know it's OC'ed from the get-go (235-710 or something) but I heard 528-604 is the sweet spot for the eris.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to go from the Froyosense 37 to the xtrROM and I'm not sure I understand the directions I have been trying to follow and I don't want to mess up my phone or end up with a brick
I have repartitioned the SD card like it says to do and "thought" I did a back up of the previous SD card because I copied to my computer. I've downloaded the new xtrROM zip file and from here I am stuck.
These are the instructions which I'm sure are perfectly clear.
TO INSTALL:
1. YOU MUST HAVE A ROOTED PHONE WITH THE AMON_RA RECOVERY PARTITION (my phone is rooted - not sure about the recovery partition)
2. download the base xtrROM .zip file **did that **
3. complete NANDROID backup (not even sure how to do that)
4. copy the .zip file to the root of your sd card (can't find a file on what I saved to my computer that says "root")
5. From amon_ra recovery Wipe data/factory reset, Wipe Dalvik-cache, and Wipe SD:ext partition
6. flash the xtrROM file from sd card
7. reboot - first boot will take a while (i.e. over 10 mins - deodexed ROMs take longer on first boot)
8. complete short setup and let your accounts sync
9. you can save and run GScripts to personalize settings at any time
The only thing I've done with this phone is flash back to the stock ERIS ROM and then back to the Froyo 37 that is currently on it. I got it rooted and running that.
Can you use Apps2sd on the xtrROM 4.6? If so, how do I do it?

I'm assuming since I already used the dev's method for AP2SD that I won't need to do anything again. Does this mean all my current apps will boot up automatically when I flash xtrSense?
View 2 Replies View Relatedthe gscripts in my ROM aren't working. I do everything I'm supposed to do, and everything looks normal, but when I reboot and look at my settings, nothing has changed. I tried with a2sd and that didn't work and I just tried to set the stock CPU and it is still running at 710.

QuickOffice was an excellent app included in the stock Eris.
It seems to be missing from xtrROM3.03.
I need it back, but don't want to leave this excellent ROM.
Titanium backup seems to have backup the settings of Quickoffice, but not the app itself.
Any way for me to get that app back?
I'm a very newly rooted user (tonight)...all is well so far! I'm looking to take the plunge into a custom rom without getting in over my head the first time!

What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
I just flashed xtrROm...and have the following issues:
1. Some random contacts from my gmail account do NOT synch to the phone. No rhyme or reason - just a handfull of contacts are NOT on the phone. I can't make a connection to "Groups", with/without an e-mail or phone#, etc. It just seems completely random.
2. Battery life is horriible. I'm talking about draining to nothing in a few hours (This is a separate issue I will look into). Regarding gmail contacts, it seems that it is constantly doing a Contact Sync - and DOES NOT STOP.
is anyone else having problems installing swype? I am running xtrROM 4.2.1, and I can successfully install 1.60, but when I try to use it, I get this message:"The Swype package you installed does not match the screen size of the device. Please contact Swype about this issue. Screen size: 320x480)"I was able to use 1.56 fine on xtrROM 4.2.1, just installing 1.60 seems to be giving me issues.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been running White Widow 4.3 and wanted to try out a new ROM. I've heard so many good things about xtrROM 3.03 that I decided to give it a shot. However, after installing the rom, my phone just sits at the boot screen. I've let it sit there for somewhere around 20 minutes and it just keeps looping the boot screen over and over. Has this ever happened to anyone else before? Or does anyone know what I should do to get this rom going?

Yes, I have read the SetCPU guide, but it doesn't really make any recommendations to actual profiles.I am currently running Ivans Official, and for me, with heavy usage, I may get a a day. I tried Plain Jane, but would only get about 8 hours. Should I consider a Froyo based ROM? From what I have read, they don't seem to be much better in terms of battery life.

I can see why if I'm on the internet or downloading files etc but when it's simply on in the background not doing a thing, why does that drain the battery so much??

Also to make it more stange when you get down to 15% it gives my a low battery warning i can either say yes or view battery usage.. but cant seem to find it anywhere in the menus.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new here and a new Eris owner had it now for about a week and love it so far.I've read through several of the threads here about the battery and best ways to conserve, and I've tried to apply them (and I appreciate the info I've been able to find here).I'm conditioning the battery now (fully drained/charged it a few times), have set the brightness down lower, turned off bluetooth & wifi, set email checking to 2 hrs rather than 15 minutes.My question is about the effect on the battery of using facebook and peep/twitter as apps running on their own home screen.I have each of these two on their own screen so I can see updates but is this more draining on the battery than instead just having the apps as icons and then opening them up (meaning does this mean they are open all the time and draining battery)? Also, I have 3 email accounts setup but set to check every 2 hrs. Would this be more draining than just 1 email that checks every 30 minutes?

The Seido one is larger and has a reputation, whereas the ebay one is slightly larger, but comes with the charger so that I can carry two. With the Seido, I would probably just do a complete replacement and not carry the extra. The ebay on is also vastly cheaper. <--not too big a factor, as if I keep the phone I will not cheap out on arguably one of the most important parts. However, as a colege student, the cheaper price is nice.
i searched and found nothing helpful...but i keep GPS off. i only check google maps (latitude) every now and then, but i always close it when i'm dunzo by backing out, and then task killing. however, under battery usage, my maps is at 87%, and has been for 2 days. what?!?! i don't even use it! wtfs it doing?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was having major issues with battery drain on 2.1 (second leak) and after reading some threads here I removed the HTC battery widget. This appears to have solved the problem. Apparently the phone was not going to sleep when I had the HTC widget running. The awake time was nearly what the up time was. Without the HTC widget I do not have this issue.
Has anyone ran the Android Battery Widget on 2.1 and does it create the same problem?
I use to get a low battery alert warning at 15%, 10% and again at 5%. However, now I am not getting any alerts and my phone just display ready to shut off as I am using it. Is there a settings area that I inadvertantly changed? Has amyone else experienced this?

View 8 Replies View RelatedJust received my replacement Eris on Friday the new one already has the 50% without signal bug and has frozen up on me today several times.The battery is discharging at an ultra high rate and my Up time is 4:04 while my awake time is 3:58 as you can see not much difference between the two.I have killed all of the apps I can see in running apps and services.What could the problem be?I am a newbie.
