Aug 21, 2010I just rooted and seemed to have everything going well--but now I seemed to have lost 3G, or actually, all network connection. No bars, just the X on signal reader.

HTC Eris :: XtrSense Vs XtrSense

I'm looking for feedback from xtrSense fans that have used both.
While I am currently using Froyo (CELB 3.2), I want to have a 2.1 ROM "on deck" for those times when I just want every last thing to work flawlessly. (e.g. I have the Froyo undead call bug in mind, and a better camera app).
Probably I would be running it with no cache2sd, no apps2sd, standard OC'ing (245-710), zanfur kernel.
Is there any reason to prefer 4.2.1 over 4.6, when "bug free" is the highest priority?

Aug 18, 2010I'm still running stock 2.1 and am pretty happy with it. I've heard so much praise of rooting and it's very tempting. After looking at all the ROMs, xtrSense 4 seems like it would be my top pick because it has SenseUI, it's new and very up-to-date, and it is known to run so well with so few issues.
But I was thinking, what's the point of rooting and going through the process to put on that ROM, when it will be almost the same as stock 2.1?
Are the benefits really worth it? How much more speed, enhancements over stock is it?

Aug 14, 2010I am currently using PlainJane2 and like the ROM a lot and haven't really experienced any problems with it. However, I keep reading about how good XtrSense is and was wondering if anyone has used both of these and can compare them. From the descriptions, they seem fairly similar. I just don't know if XtrSense is faster and/or smoother.
I'm also thinking about trying the "non-sense" route and trying Xtr using either ADW or LauncherPro.

Sep 1, 2010I'm currently running xtrsense but am curious about xtrrom and some of the extra features that it has (ie. live wallpapers). I'm currently running a2sd and cache2sd and wondering if all my apps and associated data will still be there and accessible once I run the gscript to turn their features on in xtrROM after wiping my phone and installing? Or should I turn a2sd and cache2sd off while still running Sense so that everything comes back to the phone's internal memory, back them up with Titanium, and turn apps and cache2sd back on once I do the ROM switch?

Aug 20, 2010I'm considering switching roms sometime soon. I have xtrROM currently installed and was considering going to xtrSense. I'm assuming since I already used the dev's method for AP2SD that I won't need to do anything again. Does this mean all my current apps will boot up automatically when I flash xtrSense?

Sep 10, 2010I have an Incredible, so not familiar with Eris, but I want to root my wife's phone and install XtrSense 4.1, as it seems to be a fast and stable ROM with no tweaks needed.
So, here are the steps:
1) One click root on XDA, install the rootme.zip file, reboot and should be rooted.
2) Run a nandroid backup
3) copy Xtr ROM to root of SD, wipe, and flash via "install from zip"
Is there anything I am missing, seems straightforward. The one step that confused me is this:
Wipe SD:ext partition
What does that step do?

Sep 15, 2010I flashed xtrsense yesterday with no major problems, but it seems as if my battery is running down faster than before :/ i just finished charging it, from zero to 100 and then i just watched a short youtube vid (like 3 min) and surfed the web and now im at 86...any ideas to improve my battery life?

Oct 8, 2010I flashed xtrSENSE (my first custom ROM btw) a couple of days ago. As many others have said, things have been just fantastic. It's really like having a new phone. Anyway, today I came across an issue which I doubt would be related to the ROM but I don't have any other ideas.
Once in a while I use a Bluetooth headset. When I tried today, it would not work. It used to work without issue with my stock 2.1 OTA ROM. When I tried it today, Bluetooth would activate on the phone but the headset would never successfully connect. I put the phone in discoverable mode but I never saw the headset appear in the list.

Aug 23, 2010So yesterday I flashed XTRSense4.0.6.1 to both mine and my wife's Eris. My phone has been running great with no problems whatsoever. This afternoon my wife calls me freaking out because her contacts have disappeared... all of them. She said they were all there this morning and all of a sudden they're just gone. I told her to go to Settings, Accounts/Sync, and to Sync Google but that didn't help. She rebooted her phone, synced again and still nothing. Finally I walked her through the process of rebooting into recovery mode, wiping cache, doing a factory reset, and finally a NAND restore which got her back to pre-XTRSense and all her contacts came back without issue. What could have caused this issue and what can I do to prevent future occurrences? I'd really like to flash XTRSense back to her phone because it seemed to fix her other issues but not if its going to cause more problems than it fixes.

Aug 20, 2010Everytime i use the gscript app to make a new script for apps2sd on, and i reboot, it still says that i have 27mb of internal memory. When i used kaos froyo and white widow 4.6 it always said that i had around 100mb of internal memory... i have partitioned my sd card and did the ex2 to ex3.

Oct 31, 2010My stock browser used to crash immediately upon launch, no matter where it was being launched from. So I always have to start the browser twice.
But I recently rooted and went with xtrSense. At first it all seemed smoother, but after a few days, it's back to crashing on launch again. Once I re-launch, it seems to work fine, but this is still a hassle.
Thought rooting would b my magic "fix-all".

Nov 24, 2010I keep trying to set the cpu governor to interactive however it won't show up when i run report system settings. It just keeps saying it is set to on demand. Can someone please explain what is going on with this.
Also does anyone know where I could find a script to remove the cynogen mod music player and widgets, I turned them on now i can't get them uninstalled.

Jul 31, 2010I still have rooting on 2.1 but every time I run 2.2 (with the superuser icon), I try to run a program like setcpu (y'know because I thought I was rooted) or any other program that requires root. It still doesn't work and says "no rooted access detected". I load up the superuser app no messages or anything just a black screen. I've tried the "update.zip fix" about 20x and still nothing. Am I doing the update wrong or something? Cause reboot in recovery with clockwork mod and hit "apply update.zip".

Jun 18, 2010Rooting process and decided to try it, but I've run into some trouble while flashing PB00IMG.zip.
I put it on my SD card and put the phone into HBOOT. It went through and found it, and then told me to press volume up to continue with the update. Then it went through the same thing, only now it is taking forever to finish loading. I know that it's a large file, but it's been almost an hour and the blue bar is only about 2/3 full. What should I do?

Jul 25, 2010my eris is slow....i've got task killer pro and use it often...texting just one person takes forever..to the point where i'd much rather hook up to pdanet and text from my computer....when i try to load it up..it takes a minute to load up...try to type..it takes a minute to fully load so i can start typing..which normally ends up in all caps or symbols and i have to erase and type it all over again..cause it finally caught up...then sending it..it has loading...that takes forever..then for it to finally pop up on the screen takes another long time...
My eris normally runs with 64 memory when i do task killer..thats about the average...this is like my storm all over again..without the battery pulls..

Aug 21, 2010I hope that one of you out there might be able to help.I had someone root my phone this morning and I lost all 3G capability. I saw that he had saved PB00IMG and rootme zip files saved on my sd card.He initially had some difficulty getting the 3G to come back up as well,but eventually did.Later on today, as I was installing an app from Google Market, it went kaput.I tried rebooting by pressing power button and the volume button, but the problem remains.Any ideas please!By the way, my phone is unlocked from Verizon to Cricket.

Nov 11, 2010Today I finally upgraded to 2.2 and installed kaosfroyo. As with many other eris owners the camera app shuts out on me so I installed camera360 and I'm pretty happy with it. The only problem I have is the photo gallery and how stupid slow it is. It takes so long to load my pictures (which is pretty few) that my screen turns off after waiting. And when I go back into it, it attempts to reloads all the pictures again, just to have the screen turn off(again)! I never had this problem with 2.1 (xtrROM).

Aug 15, 2010I just rooted using the One Click method posted above. All went well up to where I rebooted after installing my KaosFroyo v27 I think. My phone is now stuck with a shiny Android logo, flashing over and over. It's been like this for about fifteen minutes now.

May 22, 2010So I have a rooted Eris (checked positively using terminal emulator) running a 2.1v3 ROM. What I'd like to do is eventually get to the 2.1 OTA ROM. Earlier I downloaded ROM Manager which, after some searching gave me some problems other people have been having. I can't flash to the ClockworkMod recovery image as it gives me a "Error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!" message. I tried reinstalling, fixing permissions etc. all with the same results. So now i'm trying to flash Amon's recovery image instead using Terminal Emulator and the command line: flash_image recovery /sdcard/file_name_here.img only to yield the message that the file could not be found or something. I'm on a mac and I saw another way on here that involves running commands from your computer to your phone using the skd. I started to do that only to run into a "permission denied" when attempting the first "adb" command line. Am I missing something? I'm trying to read and re-read as closely as I can. I'm not entirely comfortable with this whole process but I'm trying to take the time to really understand it and i'm still having difficulties.

Jul 5, 2010I had my phone rooted and I accidentally hit volume down and power instead of volume up and power (I was going to flash a new ROM). I was asked to press action and update like I did the first time I rooted but after it was finished I tried to go and flash a ROM it just brought me to a screen with an android robot and a triangle with an exclamation point.
