Stupid question probably, but I've lost my G-Sensor Calibrator. I am currently running Vanilla Tazz Android Version 2.2.1 on a Droid Eris. I'm new to this all and I'd like some guidance.

Is there a way to recalibrate the proximity sensor on our phones? mine isnt acting quite like it used to.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOn threads about the lag issue it was recomended to do a g-sensor calibration. Before I did one I had no noticible lag but the posters said this would increase responce. So I did a g-sensor calibration and now I have a noticible lag while scrolling. Any thought on this and what could be happening. The fact that the response changed gives me hope it could be corrected through settings or software updates. But just maybe it is a bad idea to follow all advice one sees on here.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSince I know about the known issue of Hero G-sensor not able to save the calibration. I waited till I get the 2.1 hoping this will fix the issue. Right now. Nor does it not fix the issue I cant find the option anymore Bubble calibrates and remebers okay. But those apps like google sky or teeter arent affected by that Some apps have their own calibrations like bubble - works well or papi jump. But abduction with its own calibration wont work. Suspecting that google sky map and others wont work either. Anyone happy with 2.1 (+ more issues in this forum) like me? And anyone know where i could find the setting in 2.1? Am either blind or its not there. The advice with the tapping and turning and tapping etc did it work for anyone?
View 19 Replies View RelatedMy home icon is way less responsive than the back icon which seems to be perfectly normal. Sometimes I have to "press" the home icon twice to get the "buzz" and have it move the screen. However the back icon works 99% of the time on the first press. IS there any adjustment I can make or should I bring the phone back. I have had it now for 2 weeks.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm just wondering if this is normal: I can go into an app like Google Maps and drop down into street view with the compass view enabled. I'll see that the view will really only point one way and jerk around that one direction as I move it around. I'll then calibrate the compass using the figure 8 method and then street view will work properly. If I then exit back to the home screen and load up say LAYER I'll have the same problem. The compass will point in one direction and jerk around it until it's recalibrate again. It's more of an annoyance really as I basically have to recalibrate it every time I open up an app that uses it. Just wondering if others are having this issue. I've talked to a few i phone friends and other than the occasional recalibration they don't seem to have this issue.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a HTC Hero here, and when I tried to get the list of available sensors on the device by calling ((SensorManager) getSystemService (Context.SENSOR_SERVICE)) .getSensorList(Sensor.TYPE_ALL); I get only the following sensors: D/SensorManager( 6302): found sensor: BMA150 3-axis Accelerometer, handle=0 D/SensorManager( 6302): found sensor: AK8973 3-axis Magnetic field sensor, handle=1 D/SensorManager( 6302): found sensor: AK8973 Orientation sensor, handle=2 D/SensorManager( 6302): found sensor: AK8973 Temperature sensor, handle=3 According to the specs, there should be a light and a proximity sensor on the Hero, and I've seen it in action (the automatic screen brightness adjustment) - so at least the ambient light sensor is definitely there. My question is then, why doesn't the getSensorList return for me the light and the proximity sensors?

I put a body skin on it and its barely off center off but its enough to cover the sensor so when i'm in a call its constantly black and i can't do anything . I would just take the skin off and put it back on but i was stupid enough to put it over my invisible shield and im to paranoid to put any more water on my phone and wait another 24 hours. So is there anyway to disable it or do anything?

My sensor quit working over the last few days and I cannot find any settings that will reset it. Ive tried many reboots to include pulling the battery for about 15 minutes. The only thing out of the usual the phone has been subjected to recently is 10 25 degree weather for a little over an hour while I tried to let its gps find itself.(Eris users Buy a REAL gps and Ill save the rant)Oh, and none of the only three additional apps have been installed in the last few weeks. So someone please save me a trip to VZW.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI got an Otterbox (IMPACT) case for my wife's Droid Eris. I have verified that when the case is on, the proximity sensor does not operate at all. Take case off, works fine. Case is on correctly (there's not a whole lot of ways to have it on wrong). Pressing it harder onto my head (which one shouldn't have to do) or holding it farther away don't help, either. Does the other Otterbox case do this?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought and installed a new screen (digitizer) in my Eris. The install went very well but now the proximity sensor doesn't seem to work properly. Most times when I place a call the screens goes blank and won't respond to any button inputs, Once the other party hangs up I get the screen back. But even this is erratic at times, not often, with the screen staying on all the time.
I installed Screebl Lite to force the screen on all the time and it works most of the time but seems to have a hard time figuring out the proximity sensor too.
Is there something I could have done to screw up the sensor when I took the phone apart? Everything else is working fine.
I hope that one of you out there might be able to help.I had someone root my phone this morning and I lost all 3G capability. I saw that he had saved PB00IMG and rootme zip files saved on my sd card.He initially had some difficulty getting the 3G to come back up as well,but eventually did.Later on today, as I was installing an app from Google Market, it went kaput.I tried rebooting by pressing power button and the volume button, but the problem remains.Any ideas please!By the way, my phone is unlocked from Verizon to Cricket.

I was asked to press action and update like I did the first time I rooted but after it was finished I tried to go and flash a ROM it just brought me to a screen with an android robot and a triangle with an exclamation point. What I need to know is do I need to re-root and if not what do I need to do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIt looks about 99% certain that my Eris is gone. I'm still holding out a little hope that I'll find it around the house. I thought I was carrying it and the charger in my hand along with my work jacket yesterday morning. When I got to work, I couldn't find either in the car so I thought that maybe I forget to pick it up. Got home and couldn't find it or the charger. When I pulled the car out of my yard's parking spot (it's on grass) later in the day, I saw the charger laying there. However, I didn't see the phone. Since it would be weird for someone to have taken the phone but not the charger laying right next to it, I'm holding out a 1% chance that it's still around the house. However, I haven't been able to find it at all.Anyway, I've put it on suspension right now (the in-store rep says that I can bring any phone back on line to replace it if I get a different phone through eBay or other source). So at least I've got any opportunist locked out of the phone.Here's my question - I don't have the funds to pay $150 - 200 for a "new" Eris on eBay. So, if you were me, what would you consider to be the best cheap smartphone alternative that I can pick up for less than $100 on the open market? (preferably more like $50 <g>). I'd just get a cellphone to tide me over but since I'm having to pay for the data plan, I might as well get something with a browser.Any suggestions? Anyone have something lying around that they aren't using? Yeah, yeah, I know.

View 30 Replies View RelatedI don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but since the last OTA update, my Eris was literally stuck in 1xRTT data mode for unknown reasons. I fiddled with all the mobile network settings I knew about to no avail.
On a lark, I dialed *611 to try to get tech support on the line. I figured that maybe the Seattle area was having some service issue or something. Instead, the tech suggested I try dialing *228 and hitting option 2 in the menu (essentially resetting the phone's roaming setup)
Boom goes the dynamite, as they say. After a reboot, my Eris is sailing on the winds of 3G awesomeness and it's all thanks to a Verizon tech giving the right answer. Never thought I'd actually utter those last six words.
I just rooted and seemed to have everything going well--but now I seemed to have lost 3G, or actually, all network connection. No bars, just the X on signal reader.

Some have resynced from Facebook and Gmail, but a great deal of them are still missing including numbers I didnt have synced to FB or Gmail. The numbers are still associated with text messages in messaging app and Handcent, but all contact info has been lost on most of them. Is there any way to get my lost contacts back or are they gone forever?
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo, I had I think a free version or something of Visual voicemail before on myBB. Of course thatjust transferred over to my Eris when I got it last Dec. But, that voicemail service would alway send texts when I recieved a new VM and it got annoying so I turned off the notifications. When I did, I just stored the voicemails # to dial in my contacts. Unfortunately I must have done it as a phone contact rather than google because when I reset my phone the number was gone. therefore I have no way of checking my voicemail... any ideas?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAnyone else lost 3G? My phone is fine cause I haven't flashed a ROM in a few days. But I Rooted a friend of mines yesterday and flashed Suave Smush. Everything was fine until he called me this morning and said he had lost 3G. A little later it would not send or receive a text message. Then it kept saying he was out of his home network. We wipped it clean and did the Nand Restore and its fine now. His phone still has Android 1.5.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy question is when you root the Eris is anything lost such as data on the phone that will have to be re-installed? Or is does it wipe the phone? I would prefer not to have to re-install but I will if it is necessary. Also will I be able to receive any further OTA updates? I know that the one scheduled for tomorrow is most likely the last that this phone will see but just in case I want all of my bases covered. I would also like to take advantage of possibly putting 2.2 on it if there is not an official release so I can take advantage of the awesome features that 2.2 offers. I really don't care about loosing SenseUi because I use Launcher Pro and love it and prefer not to switch back to SenseUi. One more thing. I really want to take out certain apps that came with the phone that are only a nuisance to me such as amazonmp3, Stocks, Tweet & google talk. And of course take advantage of the apps that are available only to rooted phones.

All that is left now are just the phone numbers from people that have left text messages but those who I do not have a recent call history with are gone. Is there any way for me to regain those contacts without having to re-enter every one of them all over again, or possibly without having to go to Verizon for them to import my contacts?
