I have a HTC Droid Eris and a 16gb micro SD card. My phone's internal memory is starting to run low, and I was wondering how to get my Eris to save my apps to my card instead.

I finally was able to root my droid eris and was also able to download and install apptoSD2 on my eris and when i click on the app, it tells me i need to partition my sdcard. I selected what i want the FAT32 and the ext2 to be and hit apply and it then tells me it is done and i need to reboot it and has a button to click but it didn't work so i did it by going to power and shutting down and restarting, but nothing happens, i even went back to the app several times after trying it and it tells me the same thing each time. Is there something i am forgetting to do, or what can i do to partition my sdcard and be able to save my apps to my sd card.

Hope you guys can help. Since the 2.1 update I have certain apps which appear to be opening in the background when I didn't open them. I have Advanced Task Killer, and when I go in for example it shows Messages running, when I kill it, it will reappear in 30 secs or so, the same with MP3 store. Can these apps be stopped so they don't take up memory or what's the deal here. Thanks for any help.

Is it possible to backup all your apps using something like astro, copy them to your computer, compress them into a zip file, move that back to your phone and flash that after flashing a ROM to restore your apps, is this even possible or is it more complicated than that?

My Eris has some apps that have stopped working. Google Maps & Latitude, Youtube, the Market will not load properly and will either give error messages or won't load at all. Gmail, Voice, Gtalk and the web still work. I have did a couple reboots, pulled the battery, cleared the cache and nothing has helped. Any suggestions short of a factory restore or the Verizon store?

Did a search but did not find what I was looking for.I have OTA 2.2 on my phone and started moving any apps over to SD card that would allow.Everything was great but just bought a 16Gb memory card to replace my stock 8Gb card.I copied everything over from the 8Gb and put it on the 16Gb.Everything seemed good except that now all of the apps that were moved to the SD card are missing from phone desktop and managed applications. I can see them in the SD tab but can't access them anymore. Did I do something wrong? The only way I can think to fix this is re-download those apps and re-move them to the new SD card. That sucks. Hopefully someone has an easier way to get those apps back. Also, I downloaded alot of ringtones using the ringtone app and now those are not synced or accessible for ringtones anymore. I can still see them on the new memory card. Almost looks like the old memory card was linked somehow and the phones knows it is not the same.

I sent an email to HTC's Customer Services:-
"The HTC Desire appears to have "limited memory capacity" of around 570Mb RAM and 512Mb ROM. The MicroSD card can hold up to 32Gb. So, why can't you (HTC) allow apps be stored in MicroSD card? If you or Google are concerned about piracy issues, i.e. copies of apps from microSD card to another microSD card, etc., there is one way round to this problem. You and/or Google could consider installing some kind of unique crypto-key within the Desire's ROM (perhaps IMEI or Serial number on each phone?), and any apps saved to the microSD card would be automatically encrypted "on-the-fly" with this crypto-key. When apps are accessed, it is decrypted on-the-fly, as well. In other words, apps will ONLY work with THAT phone as it shares the SAME crypto-key. Putting a microSD card containing apps into another Android phone (even if it is of the same model) WOULD NOT WORK, thus solving the piracy issue? Therefore, would you PLEASE consider allowing apps to microSD card (as much as 32Gb card) and BEAT iPhone/Nokia N900 at their own game! Many thanks."
This is HTC's response (received today (6/April/2010):
"The reason that it is not possible to save applications to the SD card is due to limitations in the underlying Linux operating system in that it requires a filesystem that supports Linux permissions and FAT32 doesn't. The SD card is fomratted with FAT32 to provide compatibility with as many
platforms as possible. Thhis restriction is not due to us but rather a limit that is imposed on Android devices from all manufacturers.

Rather than asking about how to move apps to the SD card, which I'm sure has been done to death, I'm wondering about what happens when your phone finally gets an OTA update that allows native SD apps. Will Google provide something that will allow you to easily port your crowded apps over to the SD card? Or are we all going to have to just suck it up and reinstall everything?
