I know older non smart phones you could use a modem and access the internet on a PC very slowly.Now with smart phones and data plans is it possible to plug say, an Eris, into the PC via usb and is it as a type of air card?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm just now getting around to trying to add some custom notification sounds, and ring tones I've made myself.Problem is there are no set folders on my SD card for ring tones, notifications or photos like I've had on other phones in the past.So, can someone tell me what folders I should make to put things in their appropriate place and have them actually show up on the phone?I tried just dragging and dropping a few small mp3 files I want to use as notification sounds directly onto the SD card but that didn't work. I'm at a loss for what folders to add and name.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI could not find this particular problem. i just switched to 2.1 and had a bit of trouble restoring my contacts with my backup pro. long story short, i imported most of my contacts back into gmail, did a sync but my contact card is inaccessible. it just reads loading with the working circle icon. i realize its not at the top of the list of problems but i would like to have all my info there in the event of losing the phone or otherwise. anyone else encounter this issue or have i popped?
View 9 Replies View RelatedThis just started today, after having worked flawlessly up to this point. When i connect the Eris to my laptop via the USB. Select ' Mount as Disk Drive'. I receive an error from windows saying 'USB Device Not Recognized'. It lists it as an unknown device and will not mount the SD card. Ive tried restarting both the phone and computer to no availer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is driving me insane! I cannot seem to get rid of the rom on my phone! I go into the nand and wipe the system, dalvik cache, and ext, yet I can't seem to completely wipe everything! I even went in and removed the partition, then repartitioned the SD card and it came back up into my rom with all my settings intact. Of course the file system was empty when I mounted it to my PC.
I recently tried to blow away the partition and redo it and did all three wipes after and reboot, apparently I missed volume and it installed the xtrrom zip all by itself, despite the fact that partitioning the SD Card should have gotten rid of that.. so after I set it all up, mounted it, and went into the file system, I have one directory called LOST.DIR and nothing else.
What teh hell is going on here?
I mistakenly hit the unmount SD card. Now when I try to set wallpapers or just go into my albums to view my camera pics, it says SD card unmounted. Not quite sure how to reset that or to get to the way it was. Any help?

I want to use my Eris as a wireless adapter to link my Home wi-fi network to my PC. Not use the cellular network. I know PDANet will allow me to use it as a modem but am unsure if it will let me use Wi-Fi the same way.
Just curious if there is an app on the android market that would allow me to do credit card processing thru my phone. I've seen the attachment hardware for the iphone and also the straight software where you enter in credit card information manual into the phone.
This would be a huge thing for me, as I currently do a lot of mobile credit card processing with a machine that costs me a lot of money would be great to get rid of it.
Basically what I want to do is to be able to plug my phone into my computer and transfer or sync my songs to my sd card like you would an ipod. Is this possible already? or do I need an app? If so, which app would I need?
View 36 Replies View RelatedSo Verizon just replaced my eris with a refurb and everything seemed to work fine. I was initially able to lo load a photo album widget, but that after doing some SD card file editing, when I tried to look at photos, the pictures no longer load. I can look at them if I access the pictures within the camera function. But if I try to look at the the android photos apps, I get a never ending 'loading SD card data'. If I try to view them through ASTRO, the htc.photo program forces closes repeatedly and I have to pull the battery. I've already moved my data from the SD card, reformatted it, re-loaded the data and that allowed me to view the pics in the camera feature, but overall this isn't working. Because it worked at first, I'm thinking it isn't the phone and it's something I did.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI've been using DoubleTwist to sync music between my Eris and my MacBook Pro without any problems for the last few weeks. The last two times I've synced, however (yesterday and today), that has changed. After syncing, I go through the usual disconnecting procedure (unmount from computer, unmount from phone, remove cord, etc)... except it tells me that my SD card is damaged, and won't read anything. So, I have to format the thing, and then re-load everything back on. SD card has had NO other issues. I can load music (or pictures, or contacts, or anything else) onto the SD card either from Windows, or just using drag-and-drop in the Mac OS, without any 'damaged SD card' issues.
Anybody else have this problem? I've noticed it seemed to coincide with Doubletwist telling me, for the first time, that I needed to "update" purchased iTunes songs or they wouldn't play... could be a red herring, but odd that after my machine gave me that warning for the first time, my SD card needed to be wiped.
