HTC Eris :: Dual Booting - Alpha / Beta ROM
Oct 10, 2010Would I be able to dual boot my Eris? What I want to do is run Kaosfroyo as my everyday ROM, and have another, maybe alpha/beta rom without having to flash over.

General :: Dual Booting Roms - Don't Have Option?
Oct 3, 2012 I've just got a few questions in regards to dual booting roms on my device (Gs2 i777 running Dream Kernel 2.7.4.) So yes, Anyway, I'm looking to dual boot roms. As of now, I have the CM10 nightly build as my daily driver, which is nice. I've got Jelly Bean running as well. But when I boot to recovery, I no longer have the Dream Kernel boot up screen, which provides the option to dual boot, which is what I'm looking to do.
Do I need to get off CM10, go back to my back up, and then set up the dual boot from there? Or can I set up my dual boot on the CM10 mod?
HTC Droid Eris :: Booting
May 7, 2010I dried it in rice and it started up fine after about a day but the trackball was acting like it was constantly pressed down. So seeing as the warranty was already voided because it got wet I decided to open up my phone to make sure there wasn't any rice bits inside. After closing up my phone it now will only boot up to the hboot screen. Holding down the volume down button causes it to check the sd card for files that cant be found. The file list is to quick to really read but they all start with PB00 and end in .zip. A guy at verizon recommended that I try to root my phone but all the directions I've found require you to put your phone in usb debug mode

Sep 5, 2010I seem to have issues flashing to new ROMs. I finally figured out how to do a logcat and was wondering if you guys would take a look? I just flashed over nonsensikal black 5.4 and when booting up ran the command adb logcat. I copied what I think is most of the text in the command prompt window by selecting mark and pulling the cursor down to cover all of the text, then pressed enter. copied to text file.

Mar 18, 2010Earlier in the evening my Eris was working fine. My son was playing toddler lock and afterwards, it seemed to be working fine. browsed the web for a bit and no issues what so ever... Powered it down to get it as much of a charge as possible before heading out for the night and when i booted it back up, the following processes were force closing.And if i select to being the phone up, it says android.process.acore has stopped and must be FC'd as well. when i use the mobile widget to turn the mobile network on, it says that the application, HTC sense (process com.htc.launcher) has stopped and much be fc'd.Anyone got any ideas?The phone hasn't been rooted or anything done to it other than a few apps from the market.

After that I did the app2sd method and that's where my issue started.
Basically followed it step by step and now my phone just sits at HTC quietly brilliant and every 30 seconds it goes black and back to the white screen.
HTC Droid Eris :: Swype Beta Won't Work With 2.1 V2
Apr 2, 2010I recently complained about keyboard lag on the latest leaked version of 2.1. I remember loving the Swype beta on 1.5 and decided to go ahead and re-download the installer. Everything installed nicely and i switched my input method to Swype. To my dismay, after swyping my first word, Swype displayed a pop up saying that "this swype package you installed is not configured for this device" and then refused to register any of my swyped words. This Eris keyboard business is now REALLY starting to piss me off. Before I break something, does anyone know how to get Swype Beta to work on this new leak? I, and my many fragile possessions, would be eternally grateful.

Jun 16, 2010I'm trying to get this latest swype beta since i've never used swype before. I've got my email and when I click the link it says that I'm not running on an android phone... Could this be an issue with 2.1v3. I noticed another poster had the same issue and he's also on the leak. Is anyone else having the same problem or am I just SOL?

I followed the directions and when I try to change inputs an error message pops up stating the screen resolution doesn't match. Anyone get this email and the error? May 17, 2010Has anyone else downloaded this off of the market yet? It's the smoothest home replacement I've tried yet, and even has the pinch helicopter view. Only downside thus far is that you can't customize the four shortcut icons at the bottom, but they're my four most used programs anyways, so I don't really mind. And that you can't use HTC widgets, but I expected that.

Aug 4, 2013I have been having issues downloading the latest version of my app as part of Alpha testing. I have uploaded 6 versions and every time i download the app i just get the first version.
Thinking this is something to do with cache on google play store, on few versions, i waited more then 24 hrs for the download. Even this did not work.
Is there anything that i can do to make sure that i download the latest version. All the previous versions are archived and only the latest version is published/active.
HTC Hero :: New Keyboard - Swiftkey Alpha
Feb 22, 2010Is anyone else testing the Swiftkey alpha? It's a new keyboard that's in development. It's quite hard to use at first but now that I'm getting used to it I can say it looks VERY promising. The word prediction is brilliant, and a 1/3 of the time(according to them) it guesses the word correctly. If it doesn't it usually gets it within one or two letters of the next word.
In terms of the ui it's not amazing at the moment, but being only the second alpha release I'm not too bothered, and hopefully they will make the keys a little bigger and make it look nicer overall, a bit like in the image on their website.
They aim to have their keyboards used on android phones by default and I can see that happening the way they're going at the moment
Android :: Alpha Buffer Support On G1
Mar 21, 2009Is it possible to generate an EGL Config with an alpha buffer on the G1? When I request a non-zero number of bits for the alpha buffer I can get a R5G5B5A1 or R8G8B8A8 visual, but neither of them renders correctly to the screen. I assume that's because the G1 only supports R5G6B5 visuals. It does surprise me that I can even get those visuals though. It's fairly obvious looking at the 32bpp visual artifacts that the frame buffer is indeed laid out with 32bpp, but display hardware is treating it as 16bpp, resulting in the left and right halves of my scene rendering in alternate scan lines, with distorted colors. So does anyone know if there is any way to get an alpha buffer on the G1? I've tried using FBO's but they don't seem to be implemented either. Or I'm using them incorrectly. If I call glGenFrameBuffersOES on a GL11ExtensionPack reference I get an UnsupportedOperationException. I am getting my GL11ExtensionPack reference by casting the return value from my EGLContext.getGL() call.

May 24, 2009Since Google groups doesn't let you add posts to threads more than 60 days old, and I want to leave a solution to the problem I encountered a while back, I'm posting this message with the same title in hopes that anyone running into the problem I had will find this message as well. I was having trouble getting my G1 to render an RGBA_8888 OpenGL context to the screen. Everything was twice the size it should be because the 8888 pixels were being interpreted as two 565 pixels. The colors were obviously wrong as well. I had missed a critical function call. You must configure the Surface that is being used by EGL using the SurfaceHolder method setFormat. The pixel format needs to be TRANSLUCENT, or more specifically you can use RGBA_8888.

Dec 11, 2009I'm trying to apply an Alpha gradient to a bitmap that I've created from a PNG. I want the image to be opaque at the top and fade to transparent at the bottom. I know this can be done be using getPixels and setPixels for Bitmap and iterating through each row of pixels in the Bitmap and setting the alpha values accordingly, but i was hoping there was a slightly neater way of doing this. I have been looking at the LinearGradient Class and using a Porter Duff transfer mode, but i don't seem to be having much luck with this. It seems that my source image is lost when i apply the Shader to the drawable. Anyone have any tips on how i might apply an alpha gradient to a bitmap?

Android : Draw Circle On Alpha Channel?
Jan 12, 2010I've created a bitmap that I'm overlaying over another bitmap. I'd like to alter the transparency of sections of the overlaid bitmap, revealing the bitmap beneath. I can't find a way to write only to the alpha channel of the overlaid bitmap.
For example, I have a bitmap filled with red pixels, and an alpha that is 255, opaque. A solid red bitmap. How do I draw a circle on this map that would lower the alpha values toward 0, transparent?
