HTC Droid Eris :: Latest Swype Beta On Leak V3
Jun 16, 2010
I'm trying to get this latest swype beta since i've never used swype before. I've got my email and when I click the link it says that I'm not running on an android phone... Could this be an issue with 2.1v3. I noticed another poster had the same issue and he's also on the leak. Is anyone else having the same problem or am I just SOL?

How do I update swype to the latest beta? It says I need to remove the current version first but since it is included in the X, how do I do this? Do I just rename or delete the apk with root explorer?

I decided to take the plunge. I went through the tutorial step by step and now my phone won't make phone calls. I've tried programming my phone twice and I still get the recording that says Verizon cant authenticate my phone.

- Should have been the OTA as far as I'm concerned
- Almost there, it'll surely be done by 31 March
- Problems in the first leak persist, this thing needs a lot more work

I recently complained about keyboard lag on the latest leaked version of 2.1. I remember loving the Swype beta on 1.5 and decided to go ahead and re-download the installer. Everything installed nicely and i switched my input method to Swype. To my dismay, after swyping my first word, Swype displayed a pop up saying that "this swype package you installed is not configured for this device" and then refused to register any of my swyped words. This Eris keyboard business is now REALLY starting to piss me off. Before I break something, does anyone know how to get Swype Beta to work on this new leak? I, and my many fragile possessions, would be eternally grateful.

I got an email from the folks at Swype about their new updated Beta. Anyone have this yet? I think mine functions pretty well now so I don't want to change it. If this is even better though then that would be sweet.

I got an email this morning about the release of a new swype beta. I followed the directions and when I try to change inputs an error message pops up stating the screen resolution doesn't match. Anyone get this email and the error? I made sure I uninstalled my previous swype before installing the new one.

The swype beta installation instructions note that you must uninstall all previous versions of swype before installing the beta. Since the Droid X comes with a pre-installed version of swype, does this mean that we (Droid X users) cannot install the swype beta, or is there some other workaround?

I know this is a dumb question but is there anyone who got in on the swype beta and are not using their beta sign-in info. to actual test out swype? If so and if you don't mind I would really like to try it out and assist in the beta and try the software out.

What are the differences and is it worth the bother to re-flash to 2.1v3 leak from 2.1v2 leak? (since it appears that none of us leakers are going to get the OTA)

I just received an email notice that a new version of the swype is available. The improvements seem well worth it but I have my swype themed with metamorph. Does anyone know if the metamorph themes work with the new version?

I signed up for the beta testing a while back. Got this link in an email update from Swype. You have to uninstall swype and the old installer first. Access it from your Android phone. https://beta.swype.com/android/get/

Just tried to install swype and when I login to the swype installer I get "You have installed Swype Beta the maximum number of times." I am going to email them and see if I can get my account reset or not but if not that sucks. Edit I posted this in the root forum because no stock would be installing this over and over.

What's the latest version of Swype that works on the Droid? I'm using 0.35.3959 and was wondering if there's something newer out there. As I understand it, the above version is specific to WVGA phones like the Droid.

I have to tell you, I am getting hella better battery life out of the leaked update versus 1.5 on the Hero. I am sitting at 1.5 days since last charged, and am at 50% battery. On the old firmware, I am possibly close to dead at this point. I wonder if the native support in 2.1 for the Sprint network is making that large a difference, or if wiping the phone somehow purged an energy guzzler from my machine. Whatever it is, I wondered if anyone else who updated is noticing a similar gain in battery longevity.

This is for those of you that were using the one build of the Swype Beta that actually worked for the Ally (up until last week, when it expired). There is a new beta floating around (version 2.4.44.10912.t100), however, when installed on the Ally, it instantly locks you out with a message that this version wasn't made for your phone.I read somewhere that in the past, you could fix this by modifying the Swype apk to contain an older "license.dat" file (such as the one from the open beta). With this new version however, Swype will FC instantly if it was installed from a resigned apk.Out of curiosity, I extracted the files from within "classes.dex" and started poking around. In one of the files, I found this line.

I received the following email from androidplayground.net today and thought I'd pass it along. I installed and it works. Enjoy. The company Swype has an open beta for Android users of their Keyboard Swype. It is currently free. All you need to do is visit Swype | Text Input for Screens and create an account. It has really made typing on the phone easy! You should check it out if you do not already have it on your phone.

I looked around and couldn't find anything specific to an un-rooted N1. I used to have the original leaked version of Swype and it worked fine. I downloaded the Swype Beta when it came out and have been having all kinds of problems with if freezing. I've tried un-installing and re-installing and it still happens. Can someone tell me how to fix it or post a link to the original leaked version?

Swype beta users check your email, there's an update waiting for you. You have to uninstall the old first. Seems to work great with Froyo now.
