Iv had my white HTC evo from the day it came out and i babied it like my son. i never let it drop or hit anything. just now at work i dropped it on the floor and the screen cracked like a huge spider web on the entire screen
What do i do ? i have full sprint insurence. i go to sprint and they give me a new one ? will i get the white one or the normal black one ?

So through a weird assortment of events i managed to crack the screen on my Eris. But this is the trippy part, I didnt break the glass but the touch sensors underneath. So now i am unable to use the menu or home buttons and the entire left part of my screen and more. I am unable to unlock my device in anyway that i know(menu button, the slider). Is there any other way to unlock it? I now have 11 unread texts and 4 voicemails that I desperately want to view. Oh and I know some of you won't be happy about what I'm about to say but.... I took the leap to the moto droid. I had the chance to get it on a 1 year because I didnt get insurance and I went for it. I will really miss my Eris but the keyboard lag was just killing me.

Phone was never dropped and always kept in the bodyglove case! Have no idea how I got there and verizon wants me to file a claim and won't warranty it !It appears to be a stress crack from where the hole is in the glass to allow the optical button to be Installed.

The phone still works but I'm kinda screwed at the moment. I got Wirelesszone insurance and left asurion cause they told me it was cheaper, covers water dmg etc.. They didn't tell me is there is 30 day waiting period and i got the phone may 5th. I been looking online to see if i can find a new glasstop and replace it myself but i only found 1 on ebay for $125 and takes 2 weeks to arrive from China. I can wait until my 30 day waiting period and make a claim and pay $75 deductible, but I really don't want to have a shattered screen for 2 more weeks.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had my HTC Aria for less than 4 days and handed it to some girl and she dropped it. Well the glass screen shattered and I was curious if there is anywhere I can get a replacement for it yet? Incase anyone is curious about the drop it occured from less than 2 feet off the ground. I was in a booth when she handed me the phone and she let go of it before my hand was near. The top left corner was where the impact first hit, and is where the majority of the screen is cracked.

I tripped walking down the street with my friends today beyond skinning and cutting up my arms and knee's and getting road rash the fall also took a nasty toll on my incredible. It cracked throughout the screen and it is slowly turning a greenish tint color around the cracks and throughout the screen. It is becoming completely unusable. I got my original droid incredible back in may and I just received a like new replacement a week ago. I do NOT have insurance. What are my options here? I have also invested over $170 into this phone through cases, extended battery and micro SD card.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy wifes screen cracked on her Eris. And get this......it was from wiping it off on her shirt. She simply wiped it on the front of her shirt and now there are like 4 long cracks from the bottom right up to the top left. You can see some liquid seeping out also. She didn't wipe it hard, either. I'm wondering if the Eris kind of "twisted" while wiping and that caused it to crack. Now if you twist it a bit it creaks.
The cracks seem to be on the interior of the screen, and you can't feel them on the face of the screen.
Is the Eris that delicate that the screen can crack wiping it on your shirt? Very dissapointing. I suppose I'll have to end up dishing out $89 for a crappy refurbished one from Assurion. I'll take pics when I can.
So I cracked my screen and just need to know how to go back to the stock rom and unroot so if Verizon agreed to replace the phone they won't know I tried to mess with it root-wise. If anyone has done this before please post your experiences. My friend cracked his screen twice and had a rooted phone and had it replaced twice, so I know it can be done.

View 22 Replies View RelatedLast night i noticed a thin crack on my screen about an inch long. You cant feel the scratch on the outside. This morning the screen had gone really dull an cloudy and is basically fudged, you can hardly make anything out. I hav'nt dropped it so can only think there must have been some sort of pressure on it.
My question is what are my options?
I am about 5 months into my contract with vodafone and dont have insurance with them.
Would this be covered by the warranty?
My other option is obviously to pay for a repair if thats possible?
Or maybe claim it on my house insurance.
So my screen is freakin wrecked. I dropped it from about 2 feet into a pile of leaves. I picked it up and dusted it off and didn't see any problems. I took it in side and set it on the table and came back in 10 minutes and had a crack running about 2.5" diagonally across the screen and a little one in the corner. After about an hour another one showed up running horizontally across the screen.
I find it hard to believe that the fall it took would cause the glass to shatter like it did. I think it might have been the temp difference of bringing it inside.....>90 to ~68. Should I contact VZW or HTC first? Any recommendations on 3rd party repairs?
I have the original Droid. I take very good care of it, but I needed to have the phone with me while I was at the gym last night and it fell out of my pocket and the screen cracked. It still works but the screen obviously needs to be replaced. I weep quietly every time I take the phone out of my pocket now to use it.
However, I have the Best Buy Geek Squad Blacktie Protection plan on the phone - the one for $10/mo. I am getting conflicting information as to whether they are going to take my phone and replace the glass or if they are just going to supply me with a new phone. I'll know more when I take it in for service.
My issue is this, I am rooted running a custom Froyo 2.2 ROM. Should I unroot and dial back to 2.1 before I return the phone or should I just bring it in? Has anyone had any experience with this one way or the other?
i have a htc hero and the glass screen which is in front of the LCD and is attached to the digitiser has cracked. The screen still works its just got one crack at the top of the phone.i have bought a replacement from ebay and just wondered if anyone knows of a guide which explains how to change or any one can tell me how to change the glass?

phone goes into pocket with screen facing in. when there's too much smudges i wipe it against clean soft part of shirt (as opposed to my eye glasses, where i use a specific cotton cloth.)
My Eris screen is completely cracked. I bought a new one now I'm trying to figure out how to replace it. I took off the back panel and noticed 4 screws in the corners of the phone. They seem to require a special kind of hex key allen wrench. Does anyone know if this is the first step in replacing my screen? If so where can I obtain these odd looking allen keys?
I have heard rumors of DIY videos on youtube, but havent been able to dig any up. Also, I've heard something about heating up the phones screen with a blow dryer and letting the glass get hot enough for the glue to soften...but im not about to try that without some serious second opinions.
Do you think at one point there will be replacement parts like the glass screen for the cliq? My aunt had the phone for a day and sure enough some how she cracked the screen phone still works great touch screen fine picture fine just cracked glass. I was hoping just at one point I would be able to have my cliq again without the crack.

We were supposed to have the insurance, but when Verizon switched her from her old phone to the Eris they removed the insurance even though we told them we wanted to keep it. Of course she dropped it 32 days after we got the phone so we can't add it back on.
We asked if we can add the insurance back since it was Verizon's fault and they just said nope, but they did apologize. Which is no help at all! Is there a way to replace the screen?
Morning, I dropped my HTC Hero yesterday, and although it has a tough silicon case on it unfortunately the screen has cracked top right. At first I thought it was a hair on my screen, but hairs normally blow away So you can get an idea of how thin this crack it. It goes from top left to center left.
While this doesn't seem to have had any impact on the use of the phone (for example, touch sensitivity still works in that area and the screen is perfectly usable) I'd like to replace it.
Now this phone is under a business contract account with Orange UK, but if my employer doesn't have insurance for it what options are there to replace it? I've seen there are 2 parts, the actual LCD screen and then the touch overlay on the top. I don't believe the LCD screen is damaged since it would be far worse, it just looks like the glass has cracked. Can this be replaced?
My son dropped his Nexus and of course it cracked the glass. The crack is on the side not affecting the view of the face at all and it has a couple of chipped pieces. I was just going to try filling the area with something like silicone, JB Weld, or auto windshield repair.
What I can use that will not interfere with the touch screen. I'm thinking that silicone might be too much like "skin" touching that it might not work.

The phone itself is working (lower soft keys light up, I can feel haptic feedback, etc). NOTHING appears on the screen however. When I plug my USB cable in, I get a sound on my PC indicating a USB device is plugged in, but since I can't see the phone screen, I can't mount the device via the notifications menu.

Its a Nexus 4 I cant press the Back, Home, and the switch app soft buttons and also i cant press probably a few other pixels (I cant type SMS because i cant click on the bottom row and so keyboard wont appear).I think there should be some setting somewhere to fool around android to say that my screen size = 9/10th of the current screen size (the bottom 1/10th of the screen should be blank.) If there is any such app or any setting in any custom ROM. Tried google, cant seem to find the proper keywords.
