just wondering if anyone has a scratch or two on their epic screen? i'm still going naked with mine since launch day, have been pretty careful with it, but nothing more different than with prior phones.
phone goes into pocket with screen facing in. when there's too much smudges i wipe it against clean soft part of shirt (as opposed to my eye glasses, where i use a specific cotton cloth.)

I dropped my naked epic onto the concrete screen down from about 3 feet. I missed my pocket I was just wondering what my options maybe as far as getting it repaired. I do not have TEP.

What is the best way for me to get this screen fixed. Just call Sprint or take it back to Best Buy. Any idea what the cost is for that kind of a repair?

I'm pretty sure my home screen would do landscape with keyboard closed the first couple of days I had the phone and now it wont do it unless the keyboard is out. Anyone else have the same issue?

I was planning on ordering a Steinheil before I got my phone so that I could put it on as soon as it came out of the box. However, because they have been out of stock forever I can't do that.
Has anyone that is not using a screen protector actually scratched their screen? I know that another reason is fingerprints but until I get my Steinheil will I need to worry about scratches, even small ones (like those from jean pockets).

I'm getting the Dinc next month and plan to get a screen protector. However, I just saw someone I know who had a Dinc since release date and his screen still looks perfect.
He has never used a case or screen protector, not even a pouch. He puts it in his jeans pocket for the most part.
Since then I've been trying to find a picture of a screen that actually scratched and have not been able to find one. I did find videos of abusive testing done on the screens.
It got me wondering whether screen protectors/cases are necessary or overkill.
I don't like using screen protectors if I don't have to. And this glass screen seems pretty scratch proof (for the most part anyways, I know anything could be scratched). But in everyday usage, taking pretty good care of your phone, have you put any scratches on it? I've had mine a month now, no protection, and not a single hairline scratch to be found. I carry it in my front pocket always and tend to set it down where ever and it's still good.
I know lots of people are using screen protectors, but for those that aren't, has anyone actually needed one in normal everyday moderate care use? How good is this screen anyways?
Sometimes when I shut the slider quickly the phone shuts down. Then today it did it when I set it down on a table, and when I turned it back on the battery went from 42 to 12 percent. I then reset the phone and it was at 24 percent. Is anyone else having this problem? Could the battery just be losing contact?

View 32 Replies View RelatedSo through a weird assortment of events i managed to crack the screen on my Eris. But this is the trippy part, I didnt break the glass but the touch sensors underneath. So now i am unable to use the menu or home buttons and the entire left part of my screen and more. I am unable to unlock my device in anyway that i know(menu button, the slider). Is there any other way to unlock it? I now have 11 unread texts and 4 voicemails that I desperately want to view. Oh and I know some of you won't be happy about what I'm about to say but.... I took the leap to the moto droid. I had the chance to get it on a 1 year because I didnt get insurance and I went for it. I will really miss my Eris but the keyboard lag was just killing me.

It happens when I'm in the browser, email app, etc. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason behind it.
Dropped the phone for the first time from my pocket the screen ends up being completely cracked. Didnt get insurance and i am past the 30days.

Phone was never dropped and always kept in the bodyglove case! Have no idea how I got there and verizon wants me to file a claim and won't warranty it !It appears to be a stress crack from where the hole is in the glass to allow the optical button to be Installed.

The phone still works but I'm kinda screwed at the moment. I got Wirelesszone insurance and left asurion cause they told me it was cheaper, covers water dmg etc.. They didn't tell me is there is 30 day waiting period and i got the phone may 5th. I been looking online to see if i can find a new glasstop and replace it myself but i only found 1 on ebay for $125 and takes 2 weeks to arrive from China. I can wait until my 30 day waiting period and make a claim and pay $75 deductible, but I really don't want to have a shattered screen for 2 more weeks.

Well the glass screen shattered and I was curious if there is anywhere I can get a replacement for it yet? Incase anyone is curious about the drop it occured from less than 2 feet off the ground. I was in a booth when she handed me the phone and she let go of it before my hand was near. The top left corner was where the impact first hit, and is where the majority of the screen is cracked.

Iv had my white HTC evo from the day it came out and i babied it like my son. i never let it drop or hit anything. just now at work i dropped it on the floor and the screen cracked like a huge spider web on the entire screen
What do i do ? i have full sprint insurence. i go to sprint and they give me a new one ? will i get the white one or the normal black one ?
Sometimes when I hit the screen/power button the screen will stay black and i can see the menu bar up top fine but all else is black. If I hit the home key then all lights up fine. Then sometimes Ill hit the button and it works fine.

It cracked throughout the screen and it is slowly turning a greenish tint color around the cracks and throughout the screen. It is becoming completely unusable. I got my original droid incredible back in may and I just received a like new replacement a week ago. I do NOT have insurance. What are my options here? I have also invested over $170 into this phone through cases, extended battery and micro SD card.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy wifes screen cracked on her Eris. And get this......it was from wiping it off on her shirt. She simply wiped it on the front of her shirt and now there are like 4 long cracks from the bottom right up to the top left. You can see some liquid seeping out also. She didn't wipe it hard, either. I'm wondering if the Eris kind of "twisted" while wiping and that caused it to crack. Now if you twist it a bit it creaks.
The cracks seem to be on the interior of the screen, and you can't feel them on the face of the screen.
Is the Eris that delicate that the screen can crack wiping it on your shirt? Very dissapointing. I suppose I'll have to end up dishing out $89 for a crappy refurbished one from Assurion. I'll take pics when I can.
So I cracked my screen and just need to know how to go back to the stock rom and unroot so if Verizon agreed to replace the phone they won't know I tried to mess with it root-wise. If anyone has done this before please post your experiences. My friend cracked his screen twice and had a rooted phone and had it replaced twice, so I know it can be done.

So basically I want to fit a whole new shell on the thing. Screen is scratch-free, but battery cover scratched up and the bit of plastic holding the charger flap snapped so it will need a whole shell. Looked everywhere! An online Samsung repair place wants me to send it in but can't give me a price.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLast night i noticed a thin crack on my screen about an inch long. You cant feel the scratch on the outside. This morning the screen had gone really dull an cloudy and is basically fudged, you can hardly make anything out. I hav'nt dropped it so can only think there must have been some sort of pressure on it.
My question is what are my options?
I am about 5 months into my contract with vodafone and dont have insurance with them.
Would this be covered by the warranty?
My other option is obviously to pay for a repair if thats possible?
Or maybe claim it on my house insurance.
So my screen is freakin wrecked. I dropped it from about 2 feet into a pile of leaves. I picked it up and dusted it off and didn't see any problems. I took it in side and set it on the table and came back in 10 minutes and had a crack running about 2.5" diagonally across the screen and a little one in the corner. After about an hour another one showed up running horizontally across the screen.
I find it hard to believe that the fall it took would cause the glass to shatter like it did. I think it might have been the temp difference of bringing it inside.....>90 to ~68. Should I contact VZW or HTC first? Any recommendations on 3rd party repairs?
