i tried searching online and in the forum for this before posting. Anyways, I live right outside of the DC area and have full 4g coverage. Recently, when i turn 4g on it says that I have full 4g signal for about 30 seconds...then the 4g mode will shutoff then go back to normal 3g ...any ideas why this is happening anyone i haven't rooted my phone or don't anything special besides install normal applications!

I can't be 100% sure which one it is. But I installed Nonsensikal 13.2 about a week ago, love it, and was about to basically settle on this as my default rom until Saturday. Starting Saturday my phone has become non-responsive about 5-6 times. Meanin the lock screen won't come on, and the power button will not turn the phone on or off.I'm assuming this means that the phone is still on when this happens, because if it had just powered down randomly I'd think the power button would turn the phone back on I have to pull the battery out and power it back on to start working again. I don't have setcpu or autokiller running, but I am running juicedefender (in case any of that is helpful for anybody.)

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had my Hero for less than 48 hours and twice no it goes into silent mode for no reason and when I turn silent mode off the sound still doesn't work unless I reboot. Is this a glitch that can be easily remedied or should I take it back. I still have 12 days to decide whether to keep it or not.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust bought a Vibrant off of CL. I got it unlocked and it seems to be running well off of AT&T. I had a few questions though.
1) Whenever it is in the sleep/standby mode it will randomly flash on. I won't get any new emails or txt messages but it does stay on for a while until the screen timeout period ends
2) It does display a "Refreshing SIM data" message at the bottomish area every few minutes. Is this normal or is this an AT&T thing...
3) I was able to reset everything from going to the Settings>privacy>factory data reset but the instructions for a hard reset of "turning on the phone while holding down the volume down button" did not work. Has anyone been able to pull this off?
All in all I'm pretty jazzed about the phone. I like the Swype typing a lot as well as the overall speed and app installs. I'm coming from a work iPhone and an old school bar phone that could only call and txt. My wife has a iPhone4 and even though the facetime feature is nice I still don't like the restrictiveness of Apple products.
I'm on Virgin Mobile, LB Optimus F3 4G LTE (it wasn't an option in the forums, so I came here instead). Not sure if this is an Android feature or an LG feature.
Anyway, this thing called "Quiet Mode" will randomly turn itself on at nighttime or in the middle of the day with no warning and silence all sounds and block calls from all contacts. This is obviously frustrating. I'm not bumping it in my pocket or anything -- you can't even turn this mode on without unlocking the screen and scrolling all the way over in my top pull-down bar. For instance, it's been sitting on the chair next to me for the last two hours and I just checked it and it's been in Quiet Mode for who knows how long.
I can add contacts to the allowed calls list, but I still won't hear the ring, and I can only add a limited number of contacts. Also, all the writing within this mode is really poor English, which is odd. Example: "Please mind that incoming calls with exactly the same numbers with below list will only be allowed." Anyway, it can be scheduled for certain times and I'm going to try scheduling it for just one minute from 4:00 - 4:01 AM every night and see if that satiate its compulsion to be in control.
Any ways I can keep it from doing this otherwise? It doesn't appear to be an app that I can fiddle with.
Just FYI in case anyone wants to know: For download mode, with the phone turned off, fold the number 1 key on the QWERTY keyboard and the power button simultaneously For recovery mode, with the phone turned off, hold Volume Down, CAmera, and Power simultaneously. You navigate with volume UP/DOWN, select with HOME, Menu toggles to "Manual Mode", whatever that it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've noticed this since I bought the phone (I had other issues before such as low battery life, vibration feedback simply not working, etc - I hard reset the phone and those went away, but this is back), and I'm wondering if it's my hardware, or the software.
Basically, if I'm listening to music (Pandora or the Music app), it'll randomly hit Next song - if it's the music app, it'll be a mish-mash of fast forward and next track. This is with the phone screen off or on. When it starts happening I turn the screen on and notice it jumping all over, and I've not touched anything. Additionally, while this is happening, voice dialer opens over and over after I close it, and sometimes it'll just start making a call to the last dialed/received number (which is making me a hit with all my friends).
Finally, I say possessed because this is not consistent. For example, I'm listening to Pandora now with no issues. However, the fact that I have to even worry about this happening again (it's almost surefire in the car, for some reason, but not exclusive to there) is a dealbreaker, and my 30 day trial is still going, so I should probably decide.
So I got my phone a week ago or so and it just now started having problems with the GPS and randomly shutting off as well as the battery life being drained within a couple of hours from fully charged. Im guessing I should exchange my phone for a new one within my warranty period. Do I need to bring the original box and everything along with it to exchange it?

I am a former Sprint rep and technician and was my store's advocate for the Hero so I have quite a bit of knowledge as it stands. However the past 2 or 3 days my Evo has randomly restarted without any notice or any reason. I was sitting in my room watching TV last night when my phone restarted 3 separate times within a 35 minute span. Nothing was running, it wasn't charging, I haven't rooted yet, 4g bluetooth and wifi were all off.

All of a sudden the last two days my phone has been restarting randomly, mostly like two minutes into using the phone. It doesn't though go to the HTC Incredible screen but rather the HTC Quietly Brilliant, quickly to Verizon Wireless screen and into the OS. I see the CPU doing heavy duty work using all but 100% yet I checked System Panel and I don't see anything using that much usage. Again this has just started the last two days or so. Never before have I had this problem. Anyone else just in the last few days?

View 7 Replies View Relatedmy incredible reboots randomly, first noticed one while on a phone call with my dad. It was over bluetooth in car with navigation & gps on. It rebooted mid conversation. I was on 95 in baltimore with 4 bars and 3g. Everything since has been while listening to slacker. Either while phone is sitting there or while surffing the web. Once was while listening in the car in philadelphia on 95 no navigation (always 2-3 bars and 3g) and it didn't start crashing until about two weeks ago. Every crash has been while plugged into a charger also. I haven't noticed any crashes off charger.

I'm not sure when it started exactly but I'm sure it was after I updated to OTA 2.2.It's not hot or does anything else just that the screen turns on, stays on for like 2 seconds, and than the screen turns off. It seems to occur randomly. Is anybody else having this issue?

My phone has recently started to randomly drop 3G so that I am unable to surf the web, receive emails etc. Does anyone know what might be causing this problem? I live in South Florida where 3G has always been fine. I would greatly appreciate anybody's input. Rebooting the phone helps for a while.

View 5 Replies View RelatedBought the Captivate on launch day. I had problems with the battery, phone restarting by itself, buttons at the bottom would not register when pushed. Took that Captivate back yesterday and exchanged it for a new one. The new one I got works much better. Little to no lag, buttons are working properly, and the battery is much better. Used it until about 3% of battery was left then put the charger in. Fully charged by midnight, unplugged it and went to sleep. Woke up this morning to find out the phone shut itself off last night. I woke up and tried to check my emails but the screen would not turn on. Held the power button and the phone turned on as if it was just starting it up. I bought my phone from a authorized AT&T reseller so I'm hoping they'll let me exchange it for another one again.
I called Samsung tech support but they weren't much of a help. They said I can send it in for repair or take it back to where I got it for another exchange. My phone is not rooted and not tampered with in anyway. I downloaded all the same apps for it which were only about 6 so far. The only new one I did download was one of those Sense Digital Clock ones and put the widget on my home screen. Other than that the phone is set up just like my previous one. I deleted the Sense Digital Clock app so maybe that was the culprit? I really do not want to take this one back again as the one shut down is the only problem. I'm going to wait a couple days to see what happens. My 30 days are up on the 17th so if it keeps on shutting down I'm taking this one back.
I got my Evo today, finally. I noticed when I plug in the usb cord to my computer, no matter what I set it at (charge only, mount hard drive, etc....) the computer makes the noise like i've unplugged something from the usb even though everythings still plugged in. once it does that the phone is no longer charging and I cant see the hard drive anymore until I unplug and replug it back in. then it does it again within a minute or two.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been getting intermittent (and I'd even say random) lag spikes on my phone, either through basic navigation of the phone's features or just turning the screen on from time to time. For instance:
- I'll turn my screen on, and go to unlock it, and get zero response from the screen. It won't fix itself unless I turn the screen off again, and then back on, which will fix the problem 90% of the time. I think once I had to remove the battery.
- Randomly the phone will start freaking out, either becoming unresponsive to what I'm doing, or eventually going black and reverting back to the lock screen.
- Sometimes navigating through apps is a breeze, but other times, it's an absolute nightmare. Slow responsiveness to touch input, and even extremely slow response from my home keys. They'll vibrate to let me know they're receiving the input, but nothing will happen (tapping home button with no response from the phone.)
There has been other issues, but all mainly stemming from slow/poor response to user input. Is my phone a lemon, or is this normal? Is anyone else experiencing less than stellar performance from their EVO, or is the phone performing like a top-of-the-line, iPhone competitor should?
I came from an iPhone, and don't get me wrong, it had it's share of slow reaction at times, too. But we're talking a 2+ year old iPhone 3G, not a brand new iPhone 4. When I first got my 3G, the thing was fast as lightning. My EVO? Not so much.
I got my desire yesterday and when as soon as started to use the phone, it would scroll from the home screen to the left or right. It won't stay on one screen sometimes. Other times it doesn't do this at all. When it is doing, I can go into a menu or something and it will scroll through the different icons. I don't know what the problem is, but it's getting on my last nerve.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOver the past week I've noticed 3 instances where my HTC Hero just spontaneously switches off.. Screen black, buttons not lighted up. First time, I was editing the Calendar, second time I was viewing my photo album. Most recently, I had the phone in my pocket with music player playing and the phone just stopped working. Battery level wasnt low and I had to remove the battery and reinsert it to get the phone going again for each of those times. The phone might have crashed but idk, this never happened before the past few days (Ive been using it for 2.5 months now)
View 18 Replies View RelatedFor about a week now the Internet is not accessible randomly on my phone. Either a site will not load at all, or I will get a partial page. Either way, something is messed up. I've called Verizon about this a few times and they can't figure it out. They had me check some settings on my phone, checked my version, done the #228 thing, checked the towers. Now they say that the only other options are to replace my phone or reset the whole thing to factory.
I've been through too many phones. I'm done with switching phones and resetting them. And I can't believe that it's the phone or Google as the last person suggested. I use a lot of data. I'm up to 1GB right now and still have 19 more days in the billing cycle. I think they are throttling my connection.
