View 6 RepliesI am getting my Evo tomorrow i think it will be 2.2. So does anyone know how to root it with everything unlocked? Also, what is the best rom and kernel based on speed and battery. Also, if you suggest a kernel and a rom can you tell me exactly how to install it because this will be my first android phone and i dont know wat nadroid and other stuff means.
View 49 Replies View Relatedif there is one, to a kernel that includes the FPS fix and overclocking for 2.2? I installed the Ava release, and XDA is saying that the [Kernel]netarchy-toastmod, FPS 'fix' for Epson + Nova, now with hdmi - Version 3.7.5 - xda-developers is not supported on 2.2.
View 18 Replies View RelatedFinally did the 2.2 root (whew!) but i totally forgot to choose a ROM so i'm stuck now lol. Fresh seems to be easily updated and has workign wimax from what i read but it also is still capped at 30fps. just wondering if i can install an uncapped kernel later on or if it all has to be done at the same time.
View 19 Replies View RelatedMy wife has an Eris, and the battery life isn't even 12 hours lately. I'd like to root her Eris and install a kernel to allow it to run slower while in standby. I searched this forum, and didn't see many if any threads dedicated to only kernels. Am I missing something? I saw the guide to rooting, and installing new roms, I want to leave everything in tact, just allow underclocking.

I tried installing all four but no luck, kept getting the same error.
Alright, I installed JagerRom 3.2 and I love it. Only problem I have is that there is no gmail app and I don't like the k-9 mail app. Is there any way to get the gmail app back Also, with a custom rom can I still install a hydra kernel? because the undervolted kernel would be nice to install.

I successfully installed Humberos JP2, everything I need works fine and it is rooted, but I cant get 3G connection, my Galaxy Tab is the P1000L from Telcel.
The phone is working fine, WiFi fine, but no 3G.
Using ROM manager, I'm trying to flash netarchy 4. 9. 1 from SD card like other roms and kernels, but it takes me to bootloader instead and won't install the kernel. Any ideas?

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhere I have got right now on my phone, which is:
1. I updated to stock 2.1 using the sprint update tool.
2. I followed the video tutorial to root the phone
3. then i used joey's page (http://www.joeyconway.com/sdx/custom/index.php) to install the his kernel (joeykrim-SDX-kernel v2.0.4 (includes root)).
I have done nothing else to the phone but this and removing a couple of bloatware apps (i checked the list of permitted deletions before i removed anything.) I have not installed a new recovery..at least i dont think that I did as part of one of the other operations I performed (as an aside, i am not really sure what the custom recovery is or what it is used for, so i didnt install it...i guess i need to read up more...)
So that is where I am..but i have a couple of questions.
1) i am now having issues with my wifi connection - the signal reception is very spotty in areas where i should have atleast 2 bars of reception, and the wifi often cuts out completely....Is there any know corellation between joey's kernel and this wifi issue? I have searched the forums and have found nothing that answers this.
2) Is there an easy way to get back to the stock kernel? I have read that i can get back to stock everything by using the sprint download center where I did my original 2.1 update. But is there a way to get back to just the stock kernel without wiping the phone?

View 3 Replies View RelatedFollowed the instructions in http://developer.android.com/sdk/adding-components.html for adding 2.0 as components to an existing 1.6 SDK, from within Eclipse.
It didn't work. Not by a long shot. Instead, it got partway through and then said that C:android-sdk-windows-1.6_r1 tempDocPackage.new01 couldn't be copied because of a lock, and similarly for PlatformPackage.new01.
It said to shut down running programs, but the only program running was Eclipse, which was needed to do the upgrade.
The cancel button was disabled, and the close box didn't work. Shutting down Eclipse killed it, but left C:android-sdk-windows-1.6_r1 in a corrupted state. Restarting Eclipse showed the Android projects with errors, no SDK, and a disabled Android SDK and AVD Manager (which means no ability to rerun the install).
Shutting down Eclipse, renaming the corrupted SDK directory, unzipping 1.6 again into C:, and restarting Eclipse made it as if nothing had ever happened, which is good. But it is not possible to complete the install from Eclipse, which is bad.
The dialog says:

So the other day I went to download an app out of the market. The download finished, but it seems my phone decided to auto-reboot itself in the midst of the installation. After the reboot completes, I go back to the market, reselect the app, and it's hung at "Installing..." (And when I say "hung," the market is still fully functional except that one app). I'm given no option to cancel the installation. Killing the market app then trying to go back in has no effect - same deal. Hung on install. Another reboot didn't help.
Is there any way to delete the install package and make the market forget I even tried in the first place?
It's Angry Birds (wanted to see what all the fuss was about), but the install seems to have failed in a way that any app install could have failed.
When I run my application on a physical phone from within Eclipse, my Google MapView works perfectly. If export the app to an apk file and install it to the same phone from the command line with adb then the MapView comes up but shows only the Google logo and grid - no map tiles appear. I'm using a debug application key and a GMaps API key generated with that debug key. I've verified that this happens on both the Droid and N1 phones. The logcat looks identical in both the working and non-working cases - no obvious error messages.
View 2 Replies View RelatedYes we have threads about this already but we still have not gotten an answer AND I think it's about time somebody at least explain what does this number actually MEAN. I'm getting frustrated with the lack of transparency on this.
My apps used to be around 56% active installs
VERY soon after I updated the apps to allow install to SDCARD (preferExternal), then the active install count started dropping like a rock. Now it's around 39% today for my main app.
My opinion is there is a bug in the SDCARD install feature somewhere that is not counting those installs. We know there already is a bug with home screen icons if you install to sdcard you will get a blank icon until the Home app restarts.
Anybody knows the install command to install an apk in system/app directory .
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt was my intention on using the first 2.2 exploit with the videos but just saw the unrEVOked3 one click rooting deal there and when it comes back up i may try it out.
My questions are i'm sure what every other new person to rooting asks, What are the best ROM and Kernels for me? At the moment i use LauncherPro and widgetlocker and really like them both, i would probably like to continue using them. What i want out of rooting is to get rid of the Sprint bloat wear, increase battery life, and WiFi tethering along with obviously speeding up my already fast EVO. I want to keep all of my radios working and not lose any functionality of my phone (camera, 4g etc..) Frame rate cap would also be nice to get rid of.
I'm now running a rooted evo with bakedsnack1.8. i want to try switching to CM6,do u guys know what kernel is best for it?i heard CM6 is pretty bad in battery life but with the right kernel u can get good battery ife.
