I'm running warm 2.2 RLS3 and just flashed Baked Snacks kernel #6. When I look at menu<about phone<software information<kernel version, is says 2.6.32.15HeroMod hero@hero-over #2. Is this correct? I would've thought it would say something along the lines of baked snacks kernel #6 or something.

I have vanilla linux kernel version 2.6.27. I want to apply android specific patches and convert it to android linux kernel 2.6.27. Where can a user find the patches to convert a normal vanilla kernel into android kernel?
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhere I have got right now on my phone, which is:
1. I updated to stock 2.1 using the sprint update tool.
2. I followed the video tutorial to root the phone
3. then i used joey's page (http://www.joeyconway.com/sdx/custom/index.php) to install the his kernel (joeykrim-SDX-kernel v2.0.4 (includes root)).
I have done nothing else to the phone but this and removing a couple of bloatware apps (i checked the list of permitted deletions before i removed anything.) I have not installed a new recovery..at least i dont think that I did as part of one of the other operations I performed (as an aside, i am not really sure what the custom recovery is or what it is used for, so i didnt install it...i guess i need to read up more...)
So that is where I am..but i have a couple of questions.
1) i am now having issues with my wifi connection - the signal reception is very spotty in areas where i should have atleast 2 bars of reception, and the wifi often cuts out completely....Is there any know corellation between joey's kernel and this wifi issue? I have searched the forums and have found nothing that answers this.
2) Is there an easy way to get back to the stock kernel? I have read that i can get back to stock everything by using the sprint download center where I did my original 2.1 update. But is there a way to get back to just the stock kernel without wiping the phone?
I have u8800 and 3.0.8 AOSP kernel. But not runnig cm9 with AOSP kernel. How to port aosp kernel to cm9 kernel.

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust curious to whats going on in the EVO community, as far as who flashed which ROM, and why. Maybe even provide a link to the ROM, or the dev site! That always helps too. So lets start with mine::
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Which custom ROM are you using? (or Stock?)
- Currently running Fresh 0.2 Custom ROM. Loving the speed and nearly bugless experience. Custom navi-bar is a nice feature, but currently running LauncherPro on top of it.
2) Why are you using it?
- Considering its my first real ROM experience, Fresh seems to be the more popular of the bunch. Sticking with it until something else awesome comes out, or maybe this one can just get better. ^_^
3) Pros / Cons?
- PROS - Fast, reliable, nearly no errors, at all. Trust-worthy name in the ROM society. Removes unwanted Apps and bettery life seems pretty fair. Can only get better.
- CONS - Seem to be having trouble changing wallpapers. (getting FC?)
Ridiculously fast and smooth. Noticible difference right from the start. Just needed to share my excitement.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI rooted with Unrevoked 3.2 but I have not flashed a ROM yet. My biggest concerns are that I will loose everything. If I flash the new OTA ROM, do I loose all my settings, like my gmail accounts, checkbook balances, game scores etc? I did (at least I think I did) and Nandoid backup using ROM Manager, confirmed the filename that I chose was on the SD card. Does that mean that if I boot into recovery mode, I should see the file? And can I boot into recovery to verify that it's there and then back out? Sorry for the noobie questions, searching through the forums (which I did) can be very challenging.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone with Unrevoked 3 and just installed the FPS fix kernal. For those of you who have not done so yet, I strongly urge you to give it a try. The smoothness of the phone after installing the fix is 10 times better. My FPS went from 30 to 50-55 as measured by Fps2D. I will be observing the battery life over the next couple of days to see if there is any impact on the battery life. Now that I have gone this far, I am considering installing a custom ROM. Which ROM's can I install given what I have done so far. As I understand it, by rooting with Unrevoked 3 there will be some that I will not be able to use.

2. How do I change the Lock Screen wallpaper? When I flashed the ROM, the lockscreen inherited my default desktop wallpaper from when I was non-rooted. Like in Sense, I'd like to have a different wallpaper for my desktop vs my lockscreen. Can this be done?
3. I loaded the Droid X keyboard apk file. I takes fine and works after I install it, but once I reboot, I'm back to the base keyboard. Any thoughts on that one?
Is there a way to see what ROM im running? I did install a new ROM but am not 100$ which version I went this. I'm having issues and before seeking help Id like to make sure I post what ROM it is I'm running.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI flashed my first rom yesterday and i was excited because i followed the universal guide for dummies and everything worked
so i downloaded white widow and flashed it
i rebooted it and it seemed to be working except one thing
ALL MY TOUCH SCREEN CAPABILITIES
idk if its because i didnt let it load long enough but i had to do everything by trackball i couldnt even get the lockscreen open so i went back to my root 2.1
This has the best battery life yet on any stock rom or cog i have tried. It is utterly sipping the battery compared to stock and 2.4.1. It is very stable and quick. It also picks up location on weather/time app ultra fast and accurate.
View 49 Replies View RelatedSo I had cog2.3be and i took a back up using rom manager. Than i flashed it to stock, using odin...and flashed perception build 5.
I restored my data using rom manager backup file i had in cog2.3be

Baseband: 190000UGJK3

It says SDcard: rootme.zip only NO ZEN....
Build: Godspeed recovery Darchstar edition. How on earth do I get Zen Rom? What am I doing wrong?
I just got my hands on the ever so lovely HTC incredible and flashed it to cricket. However I'm having a few issues with getting my gps, mms, apps and getting my data connection to stop going on and off. I followed the walkthroughs for both the HTC Eris/hero and the Motorola Droid, course respecting the aspects of Motorola that won't work on an HTC. I've gotten the web running with the issue of it periodically goin in and out. As for mms, gps and apps....sadly they're a no go. If anyone has any ideas or can help it would be greatly appreciated.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am running 2.1 rooted and I am trying to flash Fresh's ROM onto my phone. I have put it in the root dir of my SD card. I have renamed it update.zip. When I go into the boot mode and select run update.zip from the menu, it never installs. It always says error. Also, the only choice I have at the boot menu is update. I don't have the choice to choose the zip file I would like to run.

View 9 Replies View RelatedGot an evo and had it flashed to metro pcs so everything works to my knowledge, talk, text, mms, internet, gps, etc. Was the phone rooted then?
Heres the specs on the phone info:
android version 2.2
baseband version 2.15.00.07.28
kernel version 2.6.32.15-g3a8614e / htc-kernel@and18-2#7
build number jiminy v2
software number 3.26.651.6
browser version webkit3.1
pri version 1.40_003
prl version 02004
eri version n/a
So it was a verizon phone before the metro flash and the 3g hotspot feature doesnt seem to work. so I did some research and ended up getting the wireless tether app. but I cand get my ipod touch to connect to it, well that is it shows its connected but the ipod says it cant connect to the internet. ultimately I want an ipad to replace the ipod but for now my wife wants the ipod and while away or on a trip it would be cool to be able to use the evo as a hotspot. any ideas why it wont work, does the kernel support tethering?? is it not able to connect to an adhoc wifi? is it beacuse its flashed onto metro? all in all this is such a cool phone and am so happy with it just wonder if theres something I am just not getting.
Is there anybody here with a Froyo Rom flashed on their phone? Flash 10.1 is out in the market and I would love to know how well it works. I have been running Froyo for a couple of days but rolled back this morning. I just can't face going back without good reason.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm at work yesturday and I was trying to install a new ROM (ZenHeroFX 2.2), went to XDA's site under the Hero's forum and saw the zip, but my companies computer blocks access to sites like megaupload. I was pissed and didn't want to have to wait til I got home to put on this bad boy...
So I looked over at my Hero and thought I wonder if I can access the megaupload site and DOWNLOAD THIS 117mb FILE... all through my phone. So it was a slow day I thought I should go ahead and try. Went to the site via my Hero and accessed the megaupload site. Thanks to Flash on my Hero I was able to even see the numbers tick down from 48. So the button was now shown ready for me to download. And sure enough it proceeded downloading the big file.
No more than 25 minutes later over Sprint's 3G, the download was complete. Didn't even both searching my SD card for the file, I immediately went into recovery. The file was a bit hard to fine at first but I found it in one my download folders, hit the file and installed it. after about 5 minutes of it rebooting, my Hero has successfully installed the ROM... no computer, no USB's... wireless.
Can the adp2 that I just bought through the Android Market be flashed with Android 2.0? I can't find anything anywhere. The HTC developer support only has system images for the adp1 and adp2 phones up to 1.6. If it can't I will be sending the phone back for a full refund.
