HTC Desire :: Froyo Rom Flashed On Phone?
Jun 10, 2010
Is there anybody here with a Froyo Rom flashed on their phone? Flash 10.1 is out in the market and I would love to know how well it works. I have been running Froyo for a couple of days but rolled back this morning. I just can't face going back without good reason.

Yesterday, I finally decided to root my phone and flash an android 2.2 'with Sense' ROM. I followed this guide: How To: Install Froyo On An HTC Desire | I Can Has Pi?
I used the 2.2 Sense ROM recommended by the guide. Everything was going really well, but once the proses was over I saw some things that instantly made me wish I had never bothered rooting:
-I have a VERY low internal memory; no room for half my backed-up apps, no room for SMS, no room to take a low resolution photo(let alone 720p video!), and not even room to browse my photos or music(I know-weird...)!
-Some apps (like the HTC MOD keyboard with voice input) simply don't work.
-Slow boot and load HTC Sense.
-Programs force-close very often, as dose HTC Sense.
There are some good things in this ROM (like a slight increase in performance) but really, the bad outweighs the good- especially with the low storage, considering that the main reason I rooted was to get more space for apps!
I don't know what to do now. Is there a solution within the ROM I'm using at the moment? Or did I just use a crappy ROM. Which can you recommend (Froyo w/Sense)? Unrooting seems quite easy, or is that dumb now that I've gone through the trouble of rooting? I can't be without receiving SMS for much longer!

I have rooted and then updated to stock HTC (unbranded) froyo so I have HBOOT-0.92.0001. My phone keeps rebooting under load and it seems to be a hardware problem so I need to return it. Is there any easy way to return to the carriers official firmware so they don't refuse a warranty return?

My Issue: HTC Desire is stuck on boot-up screen with Green HTC logo forever.
How it happened: I tried flashing a script using ROM Manager that was supposed to correct some local language settings, over my current rom.
Phone state before action: Worked beautifully using Modaco R8 RC1 ROM. Phone is of course rooted.
Why I can't solve it myself: Well, this is my first serious issue (well, I hope it's not serious, actually!) with phone, which i've had for about a week , so I'm relatively a n00b.
-- I can access Clockworkmod recovery. However, under NANDROID RESTORE there are no files. I have no idea why, because I DID a full nandroid backup before that last install. I have a copy of all the IMG files of the last working setup on my windows machine hard drive, and my assumption now is that maybe I accidentally moved the files to the hard drive after i did that backup, instead of copying them.
Now -
1) Can I somehow restore the phone to a working state without the nandroid backup, using some other function of the CW Mod recovery?
2) Can I somehow connect the phone via USB to the computer and get it to read the Micro SD card so I could maybe move the IMG files I have back to SD Card (using some mounting options)?
3) Anything else I could try?
If nothing else, please just calm me down if you can and let me know the phone is fixable and not bricked because I can access recovery?! That would at least help me go through the night...
last note: Before I flashed the zip, ROM Manager indicated my CW Mod version is 2.0.5.7. Within the recovery itself, it says the version is only 2.0.5.1. Don't know why that is , and if it is important.

Question:
Today I rooted my DInc with Unrevoked Forever, then I Flashed the 8/1 Froyo Leak but I did not flash the Radio.
My Software Info is:
Android 2.2
BaseBand - 1.00.03.04.06
Kernel - 2.6.32.15 - g5e1ad8b htc-kernel@and 18-2 #1
PRI Version - 1.28.002
So far the phone works I have Market 2.2 etc, but I tested Hulu and found out that my "handset" doesn't work with this format. I'm not sure how to check for Flash 10.1 but some video worked on the Adobe flash player site.

Like the title, I have a HTC Desire with root access (done using unrEVOked), and now I want to do my App2SD+, BUT I don't want to use a custom ROM, unless it is absolutely necessary/benefits outweigh the potential cataclysm that might follow. Or do I really need a custom ROM?

Warning - confussed noob. Currently running on HTC Desire (Telstra): Build Ver: 1.16.841.1 I have downloaded from Shipped ROMS: RUU _ Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.10.405.2_R_Radio_32.44.0 0.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_142828_signed.exe. If I do not want to root, do I just run the above EXE? Can I downgrade afterwards by just using the HTC Telstra ROM EXE? (HTC desire_RUU_Bravo_Telstra_WWE_1.16.841.1_Radio_32.3 0.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_126124_signed.exe)

I got sick of waiting for HTC to get 2.2 out for the Desire and I have no intention of waiting for the weeks of rumours and "delays" on those rumours.
I've rooted my Desire and installed Modaco's Android 2.2+Sense UI ROM and frankly I'm glad I did. It's stable, has all the features of 2.2 and is a LOT more responsive than the 2.1 stock ROM.
This was super easy thanks to Unrevoked. The principles should in fact work on any new HTC device. I can highly recommend it and you can check out the details of how I did it here:

Received the upgrade from Telstra Australia today for my Desire. I'm not very good with the tech and software side of things (quite a dunce really) and have looked for a guide as to what to do prior to installing the update and also once completed. Is anyone able to steer me in the right direction as to where a good guide is or maybe a few pointers. My phone isn't rooted and is not something I want to gamble with being not techsavvy.

The phone is the htc desire, it's unlocked but not unbranded from t-mobile and currently with o2. I got the OTA for 2.2 and didn't update it because the last time i updated it caused my wifi to fork up meaning my first two weeks of owning a desire meant waiting for it to come back from HTC repair.
Adding salt to the wound, it came back locked meaning I had to fork out another tenner to unlock again. So question! does anyone have experience of updating to 2.2 on an unlocked but branded phone (on Tmobile). Will it lock the phone again?

Can anyone link me up with a good comparison of the many many Froyo ROMs available for the desire? Or at least a comparison of the main players.
This might be a good sticky if people can review what ROM they have so we can see the popular choices and why they're popular.

I'm new to HTC Desire/Android, and debranding and altering my phones setup. A complete novice! I have unlocked my HTC desire from orange using a code from mobileunlocked.co.uk cost me 22.99 I have upgraded to 2.2 fro yo and am running software number 2.17.61.2 browser 3.1 I'd now like to debrand the phone but do not want to root as i am not into customising my phone that much. I do however want to rid it of the orange start up and the orange widgets and understand enough to know that i don't need/ want the orange excess stuff. I don't want to have to reboot and reflash my phone or find that wifi doesn't work with a custom Rom that might go wrong.

I have just recieved my HTC Desire Z from Hong Kong and I've noticed the languages available are quite limited, especially the keyboard input which only has the Thai input option.
Is there a way I can change this or change the OS from the Asia pacific region to the Europe one?
Also, I was under the impression that the Desire Z would have the swype function. Was I mistaken as I cannot locate it?

Got my HTC Desire Z flashed to CM10.1 and have some tweaked but after I take two optimized commands into the file
/system/etc/init.d/00banner
Commands are about to boost up the reading speed of SDcard, type like
/system/xbin/echo "4096" > /sys/devices/virtual/bdi/179:0/read_ahead_kb;
/system/xbin/echo "4096" > /sys/devices/virtual/bdi/default/read_ahead_kb;
Actually I modified these files with RecoveryFileManager at first but I found that was failed after I reboot the device, so I just type these commands into the init.d, but after that, I just find my status bar and notification bar was lost and disappeared, not only home screen but also all around the surface in the system.

I am concerned that were something to happen to my phone, an HTC Desire, during updates and app installs for instance, that I would lose everything. So my simple question is, how can you back up a froyo HTC Desire phone?
I am aware that the Privacy -> Backup option has mysteriously disappeared from the Settings menu, and that in order to see it, you need to do the following:
Menu -> Settings -> Search -> Searchable Items ->
- Web (untick)
- Settings (tick)
Now, you need to click the Search button and search for Privacy. You should then see the Privacy- HTC global search item.
Select this and Backup and Restore appears, with the following options:
- Back up my settings
- Automatic restore
Some questions I have relating to this missing feature are:
- Why is this setting completely hidden? Are we not supposed to use it?
- Does it actually work? Has anyone successfully used it?
- When you select to Back up my settings nothing appears to happen. The phone does not appear to start syncing, so how do you know if anything has been backed up? How long should you wait after selecting the option before knowing that you have a backup available?
- Where is the data stored? Can you verify it?
I find it rather strange that I cannot find the answers to these questions in the public domain, so I am asking them here, in case anyone has any insights into it all.
Ignoring the above "missing" option, are there any other ways to successfully back up my phone using 3rd party apps? Which ones work with froyo?

I just got my hands on the ever so lovely HTC incredible and flashed it to cricket. However I'm having a few issues with getting my gps, mms, apps and getting my data connection to stop going on and off. I followed the walkthroughs for both the HTC Eris/hero and the Motorola Droid, course respecting the aspects of Motorola that won't work on an HTC. I've gotten the web running with the issue of it periodically goin in and out. As for mms, gps and apps....sadly they're a no go. If anyone has any ideas or can help it would be greatly appreciated.

I mentioned this in another thread, but I thought I'd start a new thread for this problem. I have a Droid I need to send back to Verizon, so I want to get it back to stock. It had been running CyanogenMod, so I wanted to flash the 2.0.1 SBF. For some unknown reason, I flashed it with SPRecovery again. I waited for that to finish and then flashed the 2.0.1 SBF like I originally had meant to.It seems to be running 2.0.1 just fine, but it will not download the 2.1 update. I get a notification that says 2.1 is available. I hit the Download button and it acts as if it is starting the download, but then it goes back to the screen that says 2.1 is available. It never downloads the update.I really want to get this to a stock 2.1 before I send it back.Any thoughts?

First of all I have a Droid X flashed to Cricket. All was well including 3g internet. That is until last week when I decided to upgrade to 2.2.I lost the internet.Went back to where I had it flashed. He had to wipe the phone and reflash it.This included him pushing the file to the phone that gives me internet. The phone worked the rest of that day. Then the next morning the phone kept locking up.I took it back to him again, he wiped it reflashed it and pushed the file again with the same result of it locking up.We found that it was the internet file that was locking up the phone. As of right now it is flashed without the internet working. If we push that file to the phone it locks it up. The same file that gave me internet when I was on 2.1.My question is, is there a way for me to be on 2.2 and get the internet on Cricket? Why is this happening? How do I make it work without going back to 2.1
