Motorola Droid :: Lookout Mobile Security No Backup

Aug 16, 2010

I have used Lookout since it was introduced but lately I have been unable to connect to do a backup. Either via my phone or their website, neither method works. I sent feedback to them via their website but their silence is deafening. It keeps saying "connection error" and will NOT complete a backup. Is anyone else having backup issues? Or is it just me?

HTC Incredible :: Missing Pictures And Lookout

Oct 31, 2010

I have 31 pictures that are no longer accessible.Of course, they're all Halloween pictures of my kids. They WERE there.I've looked at them, been able to see them. Now, all of a sudden, they're grey boxes with a picture symbol and exclamation point. On my computer, they show up as a red X.I thought I might be in luck since I back everything up with Lookout. Well, apparently Lookout is NOT doing it's job. I've never checked up on it before, and tonight when I log in, although the option to back up pictures is checked, it DOES NOT BACK UP PICTURES! None of my pictures have ever been backed up with Lookout.

HTC EVO 4G :: How To Backup Before Root?

Aug 3, 2010

I'm currently on the stock 2.1-update1 Evo Android build, and I want to root the phone before I upgrade to a 2.2 rom. The problem is that I want to perform a full backup of the phone, but I can't figure out how to do that. Many tutorials encourage you to do a NAND backup & backup using Titanium, but in order to do that, you need to have root access. I can't figure out which comes first. I've looked into performing the Simple Root, but as I understand it, it'll wipe my phone clean before rooting. If I need to backup my data before rooting, but need to root before I can install the backup software then how do I get anything done?

HTC Incredible :: Pre-Root Backup

Jul 18, 2010

I'd like to use the new Unrevoked root on my Incredible. The only problem right now is that I'd like to know my path back to root-free and stock. That path currently involves wiping everything, that kinda sucks.

Right now I'm scattered throughout backups. Lookout for contacts/call history/pictures, SMS Backup/Restore for that, VZW Backup Assistant, ASTRO for my apps. I feel like restoring all that would be a pain.

Is there a way to snapshot my current pre-root state so I can restore it if I decide to unroot?

HTC Desire :: Pre-Root Backup -

Jul 13, 2010

I fancy rooting my Desire and the instructions seem simple enough, but one thing I'm confused about is backing up my phone before beginning the root process.

All the backup suggestions appear to need "root-enabled" tools to complete; Nandroid etc. So its chicken and egg, I need to root to take a backup, but I want to take a backup pre-root?

Granted, there isn't much to save I suppose as all my emails, contacts and apps are attached to my gmail / app brain accounts.

But what about all my messages in say Handcent, i'd like to keep all those etc. Is this possible?

Motorola Droid :: How To Backup So Can Root

Jul 19, 2010

I'm in sort of a catch-22 here. Rooting requires a wipe, so I lose all my data but all the backup software I've seen requires root.

HTC Incredible :: Backup/restore After Root

Oct 3, 2010

Rooted my FroyoDinc w/ unrevoked 3 and unrevoked forever this morning. In my haste to explore I started deleting some of the Verizon bloatware such as Friendstream, Facebook, Footprint, City ID as well as a couple of others before stopping when I remembered that I should have immediatly run a nandroid and titanium backup after root.

My question, can I still use this nandroid and or titanium backup I made, minus the 4 or 5 misc items I deleted before backup, to restore my Dinc to stock if need be for either the next OTA update or if I run into problems playing w/ various ROM's?

Android :: App Similar To Titanium Backup For Root?

Mar 25, 2010

I currently use Titanium Backup, but it is growing tiring to have to sit there and man the phone while I am restoring apps, so now I am looking for another app that will restore apps and data without having to choose each app individually. I know most people will say "Just buy the donate version". Unfortunately that is not an option for me. Why not? Because the dev doesn't offer the donate version in Market, nor does he offer a donate through google checkout. His donation is paypal only, and due to some recent VERY bad experiences with paypal, I have closed out my account and I refuse to ever use paypal again. what options am I left with? I've been poking around market for a while now, but it seems like every other backup I can find is for personal data only.

HTC Hero :: How To Root - Install Custom ROM - Backup - More

Mar 20, 2010

I have seen many threads & posts from confused Hero owners. The forum is cluttered full of them. So I thought it would be good for all the information to reside in one thread and if people are still having problems then they should make a new thread. I understand that it is sometimes difficult to find the right instructions as there are conflicting posts / thread everywhere.
There are so many guides out there. Each more confusing than the last. So many unnecessary steps. This way is quick and easy.

Note: I have to the best of my knowledge checked and performed the following guides myself and confirm that they work. If my spelling or grammar is wrong, my methods are wrong, you'd like to add something or whatever please Private Message me with the URL of the post and please specify what is wrong. I will try and change / update it ASAP.

I take no responsibility for anything that may go wrong. It is your responsibility to BACKUP everything periodically. The end.

The following Guides are for GSM Hero's Only (Europe)... US / Sprint Users Please See Here

I have made the following GUIDES:-

What Is Rooting & The Benefits & The Downsides

Which Method Do I Use? (Searchable by firmware) <-- Click Me FIRST

How To ROOT

How To Install A Custom ROM

How To Update The Radio

How To Back Up & Restore Your Phone

WORK IN PROGRESS // Thanks for your support. I would like to thank Modaco, its users and people on this forum for helpful information which enabled me to put this guide together after my own experiences and frustration at finding contradicting info.

My Work Here Is Done. My Time With My Beloved Hero (The Best Phone I Have Ever Had To Date)... Is Now Over. I Have A Samsung Galaxy S Now ^_^ So Unfortunately This Guide Is No Longer Going To Be Updated/Supported. However Everything Within This Guide Will Still Work & Will Be Valid For Ever & Ever ... Samsung Epic 4G :: Titanium Backup Not Working After Root

Oct 17, 2010

I successfully rooted my phone tonight. No problems there.

I successfully installed the Epic Experience v1.1.10 ROM. Everything seems to have installed properly.

All seems to be well, so I went to install Titanium Backup to restore all of my apps from my stock Epic. The installation went fine. I try to run the app for the first time, and I get the following error: "Sorry, I could not acquire root privileges. This application will *not* work! Please verify that your ROM is rooted and includes BusyBox, and try again".

So I know that my root included BusyBox, because I was able to install and run it on the stock ROM. But just for kicks, I clicked "Problems?" and downloaded the version it says will work. No difference.

I have rebooted the phone several times. Makes no difference.

I have deleted and re-installed Titanium Backup. Makes no difference.
