Not sure if any of you guys have the same problem but when I leave my Wifi on all day, and return home from work, my home Wifi never picks back up. When I toggle my Wifi on and off, it picks up again. My signal is always above 1 bar when on Wifi in my house, it just does NOT automatically connect anymore.

It's done this twice now (before and after factory reset). 2.1 OTA, not rooted.
Whenever I turn on the wifi, or I become in range of my WPA2 network, it doesn't always connect. I say "always" because it seems to be random. If I toggle wifi on or off, it doesn't always connect. Sometimes it connects after 30+ seconds. Every other device connects just fine.
The only sure way to get it to connect is to force it to rescan, usually by going to Settings and displaying all SSIDs in range. THEN it connects, always and immediately.
The even sillier thing is, it will alert me of open networks, but never connect to my own saved network.
the first day I had the phone, it was picking up wi-fi networks. I got it to connect to my home network, then it disconnected. Everyone I go into settings it is "Searching" and never picks up on my network anymore.I have googled to death. Can anyone suggest what is wrong or how to set this up.

I would like to know if Android supports ad-hoc networking. I would also like to know what is the average range of the wifi signal from an Android handset point-to-point with no obstructions. View 10 Replies View RelatedI got the Hero on 3UK yesterday. As soon as I booted it up it found a number of wireless networks and I was able to connect to my BeBox with no problems. Later on last night and continuing today, it can't find any networks in range. It shows the BeBox as 'remembered' but not in range. Even tho I'm obviously sitting near it. I've rebooted the phone today and no change. I installed the Fonera application yesterday and thought it might be causing problems so disabled it and still the problem was there.
View 2 Replies View RelatedQuick background, I am still on a $30/month SERO plan with my Touch Pro 2 and waiting to get a $10/24 month discount but Sprint has put a halt to all discounts for the time being, so I'm going to try when the iPhone 4 comes out and when Verizon gets their Droid X. I was going to sell my EVO but it seems I might as well keep it since I'm going to eventually use it.
So in the meantime, I'm going to hold onto the TP2/SERO and use the EVO when I am within a WiFi network. Thing is sometimes I want to bring the EVO out, so I thought maybe I could open up a WiFi hotspot with HTC's Wifi-Router software and connect to it with the EVO. But the EVO isn't recognizing the WiFi hotspot. My laptop can recognize it though. I tried to add the WiFi network but it'll say "Not in range, remembered".
I have a droid and the range I get with wifi compared to a laptop is horrible. The networks I have tested on are all 802.11g. Is this just normal because of the antenna size on the droid or is there something I can do to improve it? I feel like I have to be right next to the access point to have a good connection.

View 1 Replies View Related I recently bought Zync Z930 7" Android tablet. Everything is working fine, except for the WiFi. My router is Belkin G Wireless 40961F. The tablet finds the WiFi and connects to it and works flawlessly. But as soon as I move to upstairs, the connection is lost and it says Wifi Not in Range. I tried changing the pass from WPA to WEP and finally no password at all. Now the connection stays for more time. I tried putting "Keep On Wifi " to " Never (increases data usage) " . The connection says " Good Signal Strength ", but it keeps flashing between "Connecting " and "saved" .
Do I need to contact the vendor ? as I bought it from Ebay, I need to return it ASAP if its a hardware problem. BtW, it says the tab runs on a custom ROM.

I'm used to the BB getting them almost instantly which is important to me because of my work. I'm also getting this notification saying "Network Error" from time to time. What's up with that? Overall I'm happy with this phone but I really hope that I can get my email situation solved.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with my Desire's GPS, I am running the official Orange 2.2 Update and ever since the update my Desire won't pick up my GPS location. It displays the GPS icon in the notification bar but whenever I use Maps or Navigation (Google) it constantly displays 'Searching for GPS'. This is my 2nd Desire as I lost my original, and I do not remember even trying the GPS before the update (due to it being so close to the update release), so I don't know if it is the update or a fault. I would like to know if anyone else has had an issue with this, I know Voda had a similar issue with their update, and how you fixed it. I have tried removing the battery, SIM and SD card but I haven't tried a factory reset yet. I am also wondering if there is a debranded ROM I can flash without rooting in which I could revert back to the original if I needed to send it back to HTC. I am pretty sure this device is SLCD as I can notice the difference from my original AMOLED model.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen phone locked and somebody calls, i drag down to pick up: in this very moment phones shows like it would follow the procedure and pick up, but it hangs like inbetween for 4-5 seconds and THEN picks up. Meanwhile i can press Menu, Home, etc, nothing happens.. Sometime don't have that luck and the call drops. Most of the time i'm lucky and can pickup.

That said, the party is over and I came to have to deal with the following Ghost;
I've released an app in the market (Ambu) - so far qualified under SDK 1.5 &1.6. Using the emulator for Android 2.0, things don't work anymore.
This is what I'd like to share;
- my app invokes an ACTION.PICK intent as way to extract phone contact from the phone book and populate a database.
When compiling my app using the SDK version 1.6 and a target emulator configured at 1.6 level, the following code WORKS:

When running the same code (compiled with SDK 1.6) and a target emulator at 2.0 level, the above code never return the entries I have populated in my the phone book. It's as if the phonebook was always empty.
A couple of additional observations;
- When running the emulator in 2.0 mode, the default local input type is Japaneese. Any way to change this ?
- Under the 2.0 emulator, and setting a "clean" AVD image, if you launch the dial button, press menu and select account, you'll probably immediatly get a "android.process.acore" error ...
- In the most recent SDK document, I can read that "People.CONTENT_URI" was deprecated after SDK 1.6. Therefore, I've changed the above code to:

Unfortunatly, with the above, I get a crash right away when invoking ACTION_PICK.

How to we properly pick a phonebook contact under the 2.0 OS using 1.6 or 2.0 compiled apps ?
I have just received my second Galaxy handset as replacement from O2 after returning the first with what appeared to be some sort of hardware fault that caused calls to be rejected before pickup quite often just at the moment of touching the phone! I was quite happy with O2 and the way they dealt with the situation and couldn't wait for the new unit but sadly it has arrived with the very same issues as the last one and O2 are again confident that its a hardware fault and now want me to choose some other phone!

new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK, People.CONTENT_URI)
It works as expected, and I'm able to get the contact data in onActivityResult()
However, every single time, I get an error dialog: "The application Contacts (process com.motorola.blur.contacts) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. (Force Close)"
The error in LogCat: android.app.SuperNotCalledException: Activity {com.motorola.blur.contacts/ com.motorola.blur.contacts.picker.PickPeopleActivity} did not call through to super.onDestroy()
So does this mean the contacts picker on the Cliq is just plain broken? Has anyone else seen this error, and/or been able to successfully use the contacts picker on the Cliq without getting error messages?
So last night and today I have not been able to access my USB connection through Windows... I have Vista and have tried messing with settings on both my phone and laptop...
Does anyone have any idea why this has all-of-a-sudden started being a problem?
Before the update, I had a screen similar to the alarm clock screen - an arc to pull down that would answer the incoming call.But after the update, I could have sworn there was a different screen. Like instead of that arc-bar, there was a green and red "answer" and "ignore" buttons. But now its the arc bar again.can someone shed some light on this?What does YOUR screen look like when receiving a call?

I don't get a lot of calls...but since 2.1 upgrade I've had trouble answering them when the phone is locked. It lights up and I try to swipe the unlock bar accross to the right but it just comes back to the left. I got it once but missing calls is getting annoying.Is there anything else I can do?

When the user touches the screen, I draw each object with a different color. Then I read the color where the user touched the screen to know which object was selected. After that I draw each object with their respective textures/colors. (everything done during one onDrawFrame pass)
The problem is that sometimes the colored objects appear on the screen (~5% of the times the user touches the screen) and it is even worse on slower hardwares.

For some reason, I lost the synchronization between my Droid and my Dell Alienware computer recently, and had to re-download the Motocast software and re-synch it.
What setting did this? And how do I UNDO the setting? Windows 7, 64-bit system.
My home wireless network has always worked with my Eris until I updated to 2.1. I can get it to connect once, but after a few minutes, it disconnects and when I go into the wireless settings, I see the status as "not in range, remembered" even though I'm right next to my wireless router.
