So last night and today I have not been able to access my USB connection through Windows... I have Vista and have tried messing with settings on both my phone and laptop...
Does anyone have any idea why this has all-of-a-sudden started being a problem?

So I have a Samsung Vibrant (just got it recently) and I'm having problems when i connect it to the computer. It gives me an USB device not recognized on my windows 8 computer. I have spent all morning searching and reinstalling drivers and trying my old pc and new cables and i found out that my old windows 7 computer with 4GB of ram and an overloaded hard drive will detect my device the problem there is it not my main computer and i don't want to have to connect all the vga cables boot it up connect mouse and ets to use this computer just to be able to copy files, and do other things from my computer to my phone I don't know why my main computer dell inspiron windows 8 will not work when it was a couple of days ago when i had a problem with connectivity and had to flash back to stock but now it wont connect.
Here's a list of things i've tried
installing kies
installing adb again
aoi tool and then drivers
a bunch of different drivers found on the forums
different usb cable
I use Windows 7, received my Vibrant a few weeks ago and have been having a great time, but my phone doesn't mount! It mounted the very first time but after making a potential mistake, it stopped. Here's what happened: Yesterday I installed several apps (Beautiful Widgets, WidgetLocker, just for reference), and for the first time since receiving my handheld, wanted to add some files to it via my pc. I connected my Android as usual only to find that while both the phone & sd card were recognized on my computer, both contained no records, which was obviously a glitch.
I then tried unmounting my phone, and screwed up by selecting for my phone to be a media device rather than mass storage. Windows began searching for the device drivers, was unable to find them, and gave the message: "device driver software was not successfully installed." And now, whether mounted or not, windows no longer recognizes my phone's storage. My Android however, has no problems going from mounted to unmounted. However, I have tried connecting my phone to two other computers and none recognize my device.
Well i tried out a rom (backed up first) didnt like it. so i restored my backup and now my phone is stuck on the vibrant logo. the tmobile ding plays but nothing. and for some reason my phone wont go into download mode and ADB wont work on my pc. it comes up and disappears rapidly. it open in cmd prompt but nothing.

I'm used to the BB getting them almost instantly which is important to me because of my work. I'm also getting this notification saying "Network Error" from time to time. What's up with that? Overall I'm happy with this phone but I really hope that I can get my email situation solved.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just received my second Galaxy handset as replacement from O2 after returning the first with what appeared to be some sort of hardware fault that caused calls to be rejected before pickup quite often just at the moment of touching the phone! I was quite happy with O2 and the way they dealt with the situation and couldn't wait for the new unit but sadly it has arrived with the very same issues as the last one and O2 are again confident that its a hardware fault and now want me to choose some other phone!
View 49 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with my Desire's GPS, I am running the official Orange 2.2 Update and ever since the update my Desire won't pick up my GPS location. It displays the GPS icon in the notification bar but whenever I use Maps or Navigation (Google) it constantly displays 'Searching for GPS'. This is my 2nd Desire as I lost my original, and I do not remember even trying the GPS before the update (due to it being so close to the update release), so I don't know if it is the update or a fault. I would like to know if anyone else has had an issue with this, I know Voda had a similar issue with their update, and how you fixed it. I have tried removing the battery, SIM and SD card but I haven't tried a factory reset yet. I am also wondering if there is a debranded ROM I can flash without rooting in which I could revert back to the original if I needed to send it back to HTC. I am pretty sure this device is SLCD as I can notice the difference from my original AMOLED model.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen phone locked and somebody calls, i drag down to pick up: in this very moment phones shows like it would follow the procedure and pick up, but it hangs like inbetween for 4-5 seconds and THEN picks up. Meanwhile i can press Menu, Home, etc, nothing happens.. Sometime don't have that luck and the call drops. Most of the time i'm lucky and can pickup.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have had DC 2.08.1 installed for about 2 weeks with no issues. I decided to go ahead and partition the SD to utilized apps2SD as I was having memory issues. That process, while not smooth, went through okay and the SD card is working with the partition and apps2SD. However, ever since that was completed, my Windows 7 box no longer recognizes the phone either as a phone or as a drive. My Linux laptop recognizes the drive without issue.
Any suggestions on how I can reintroduce my phone to the Windows box, at least as a drive?

1. I plan on going South Africa. According to this site, both the phone and 3g should work perfectly right? GSM World Coverage Map- GSM Country List by frequency bands
2. I have seen an app to unlock the Vibrant. It is by DaGentooBoy from XDA. Its called Samsung Galxy S Unlock. Would it be better for me to use this app or to just request T-Mobile to give me the unlock code. Are there any pros or cons for using either method.
3. If the OTA update or Froyo don't come out before I am gone, will I be able to get an OTA over wifi while I am in South Africa. Just to clarify, I will be using a local sim over there. I will discontinue from tmobile when I leave the US I know nothing of rooting. This is my first smartphone, so if possible I would be hesitant of doing any updates via the computer that requires me to loose all my info. I have too many apps and saved games and settings to download again so its just a scary thought of loosing it all.
4. Will google navigation work overseas. I have heard people say yes and no. I am hesitant to buy apps like co-pilot as they cost a lot and have mixed reviews, so I wanted to find out about this.
After successfully sorting out all the troubles of connecting SGS to KIES, and been using it happily for almost a month, now I'm facing another trouble which is quite big this time. Windows Vista (32-bit) and Windows 7 (64-bit) can't recognize the phone when connected through the USB. Got a message says the USB Device/Hardware Is Not Recognized. I'm using the SGS original cable. The cable was working perfectly and now suddenly it doesn't work in data mode but still able to recharge the phone battery. Am I having a cable problem? Or worst, the USB connector (on the phone) problem? I tried to clean the USB connector on the phone but still can't connect the phone to my computers.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had this phone since April and it has been pretty disappointing overall with the whole not upgrading to Android 2.1 and such, but that's not the issue right now. I bought a new laptop about 2 weeks ago and I want to use my phone with my laptop. I download the drivers for the phone and they could not install and everytime I connect the phone to the computer it says the device is not recognized. The phone now can't connect and I can't see the files that are on the phone. I want to be able to put music and videos on my phone and I can't now. It works perfectly fine one my desktop which is an XP, but I wont be able to use the desktop because I will be leaving for college soon.

I have tried all the different types of connection as mass storage etc... Nothing seems to work. I can see the phone in Device Manager and in the explorer it shows three removable disks; however, when I try to open them it tells me to insert disk.
Does anyone know how to connect this to my PC?

The galaxy s phones were made for high end games. I want to find and try all the high end games for android, so please post which games you found...Here are the high end games I've tried and what I think about them:
Asphalt HD from Gameloft. I really love this racing game. Its on par with racing games made for the psp. I hope they release an expansion pack with more cars/tracks/events. N.O.V.A from Gameloft. A pretty good fps. It kinda reminds me of halo. I wish there was more weapons and enemies/bosses. note: you cant get this game from the market, you have to buy from the gameloft website. Dungeon Hunter from Gameloft. A standard rpg. Im playing this right now. my thoughts so far is that its a pretty good rpg for a phone but pales in comparison to handheld console rpgs. note: you cant get this game from the market, you have to buy from the gameloft website. Hero of Sparta from gameloft. its a hack n slash game. this is the only game from the gameloft hd series that I didnt like so far. I havent tried the other 5 HD games from gameloft but I plan on doing so.
I really want to try all the high end games for android so please any games you have found

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been looking around for a while trying to see if anyone posted something like this and I have not found anything quite like what is going on with my phone. I got my pattern code wrong enough times so my vibrant is requesting I enter google account information in order to let me in. I have not been able to access the phone this way since it will not accept the google info I am inputting. I know my username and password are correct since I have verified them on my computer to ensure that I am using the correct information.
I have followed the instructions for accessing the recovery mode menu..and have deleted user data and cache twice, and the phone is still prompting me to enter my google username and password. I contacted TMobile support and they were useless. Is there any way for me to bypass this screen? What is the proper way to do a real master reset of my phone that will actually delete the data I have already inputted into the phone?
I am somewhat freaking out because I just bought this phone today, and cannot believe this is happening. I've been searching these forums and online for hours looking for a solution but nothing that I have found has worked. If I could get the phone back to factory settings that would solve the issue, but I can't find a set of proper instructions that actually delete the data since the phone is still prompting me for the google information due to my getting the pattern code wrong.
I have tried multiple times to try to add pictures from my pc to phone by using the usb cord.When I add the picture to the folder that contains the photos on my photo gallery on my phone it shows on the computer but not on the phone.
