Apr 4, 2010I know that probably asking this question for a Google product would get me setup for a firing squad appointment, but is there any way or any app that would sync my Yahoo contacts to my Droid? I use both accounts and want a way to sync it up.

I have had my yahoo email address for years and don't really feel like giving in and switching to a gmail account.

Aug 28, 2009Not got the phone yet.. but it looks good.. as an Apple fan i love the Iphone but im not willing to change carrier or pay what they want.. so i think the hero is my best option.. What is important to me is my email.. I want to be able to sync my yahoo account with yahoo mail and the mail on the phone so if i send an email on my phone it will appear in the sent folder on my yahoo mail on the computer and vice versa if you follow... With Android being google will i be able to do this from the phones email client like the iphone does...

For instance if you add someone as a friend on facebook and they have their email and phone number filled out in their profile, that information would automatically be added to your phone. Aug 31, 2010I set up my Google account on my phone but my contacts do not appear in the "People" app. One solution I read was to check if the contacts were stored on the phone itself and not the Google account, however I checked and they are in fact stored under the "Google" option (People > View) When I click on the sub-option under Google ("Show auto Gmail contacts") then it shows *every* contact I've ever emailed in the "All" list, but it still doesn't show my groups that I've set up in the "My Contacts" list. So, how do I do this? All I want is for "My Contacts" to sync with my phone, not everything else.

Jul 2, 2010After the update to Android 2.1 on my HTC Hero, like many other people, I had problems syncing my phone contacts to my facebook contacts. The process com.htc.bgp constantly force closed, and no linking could be made or is some cases only a part of the facebook contacts were synced. Different fixes has been suggested by users online but none of them worked. But after a lot of trying, a combination of these fixes finally solved the problem for me. Now all my facebook contacts are available to link to my phone contacts. Here's what I did and what you can try:
1. On your computer, go to Facebook Account Application settings. Remove applications Facebook for Android and HTC Sense. Log out of Facebook.
2. On your phone, remove any all Facebook programs or widgets you might have installed.
3. Go to Settings Accounts and delete your Facebook for HTC Sense account. The settings Background data should be checked and Auto-sync unchecked.
4. Go to Settings Applications Manage applications. Enter each of the following applications and click Clear data:
a. Calender
b. Calender Storage
c. com.htc.socialnetwork.accountmanager
d. com.htc.socialnetwork.provider
e. Facebook for HTC Snese
f. Gmail
g. Gmail Storage
h. My Uploads
i. PC Synchronization
5. Restart your phone.
6. Connect to the internet.
7. Start the Photos program
8. At the bottom there should be a facebook icon. Click it and log in to your facebook account.
9. Let all the contacts download.
10. Go to your contacts (People), and now your old Facebook connections should slowly start to appear, and you should be able to link the contacts to your facebook contacts. It might take a while but have patience!
Perhaps one or a few of these steps are not necessary, but at least its what worked for me and hopefully it will help some of you.

May 6, 2010so i exported all my contacts through the app (exportcontact) to an CSV file, i saved them to my PC, then i uploaded them to my Gmail account. everything went smooth and all my contacts showed up on my Gmail so i went ahead and deleted all my contacts on the phone..but now i cant seem to figure out how to get the contacts back on the phone. ive tried exporting file from Gmail and saved it, then tried to put it back onto my SD but i wont let me.(error msg, cant write onto disk i need to take my phone to telus and have the stupid crackling speaker replaced.

However, I am not able to find the particular forum thread helping me out.I just got my HTC Desire yesterday and managed to get my contacts on my gmail-account (in the internet). So far so good. My contacts are "safe" in my google-mail-account and I was able to export them as cvs.Now, on my HTC Desire they actually show up, if I choose "people" -> "menu and view" -> "Google".In the list of "view" I can also see my SIM Card (which says its empty and that is correct) and "Phone" which is empty as well. Please correct me if I am wrong:From what I think I see my contacts are on my internet googlemail account only and my phone is connecting to the internet to get them.But that is not I would want. I would want my contacts being synced between my phone (which is not necessarily connected to the internet all the time) and my internet google-mail account.Now, is there a way to bring those contacts on my phone (using the on board tools) so I can use them "offline" or am I misunderstanding the menu and the contacts are already "offline" on my phone marked as "Google" contacts?

Aug 25, 2009First of all, apologies if this is the wrong forum for this topic, I wasn't sure where to post it. But because it's not device-specific and, in a way, "sync" can be considered an app, i thought here would be my best bet. I've got a huge problem: Ever since I got my Magic, and because I didn't like the feature very much, I had the "sync contacts" option to off. I manually entered all the phone numbers & email I had, and was fine with it. Then, today, I thought "oh, wth, i'll turn contact sync so that my gmail will also have my phone numbers and they'll be safe". little did I know. For some inexplicable reason, when synchronizing ended, my phone had downloaded all my google contacts BUT it had completely wiped out my existing phone contacts. At the "view" option in contacts, under the "phone" contacts it shows 0, and it does not recognise my call log or my sms list as sent by known numbers. Oh, and my phone contacts (neither the ones I had before sync, nor the couple I just entered after all this) do NOT show up in my google contacts AT ALL. Is there any way at all to undo this? I want my phone contacts back!Also, is this some sort of bug or error or does sync reallly wipe out all your phone contacts? if so, WHY THE HELL does it do that? I thought synch would be upload phone contacts to gmail, download gmail contacts to phone, keep all of htem in both places. isn't that the point? Why did this happen? I'm pretty sure it never asked me if I wanted to keep my phone contacts or anything.

May 3, 2010Converted blackberry of 5 years here. Just signed up but I've been reading everything about the DInc since I got it on 4/29. I've see a lot of FB syncing posts, but I'm not sure if anyone found a solid resolution for it. What I'm trying to do is this, and maybe this question and answer can be a good area to finalize the solution instead of looking through all of the 100 threads that have been hijacked and derailed 100 times over.
Bottom line,
I have 400 FB contacts who I don't care about
I have 100 Phone contacts who I do care about.
I want to link my FB info only to the phone contacts that I have (meaning leave the 300 people on FB out of my contact list, and update the people on my phone list only). Now I've found a partial solution so far - but my end result is not good.
1. Sync facebook under accounts and wait for all contacts to appear in your contact list.
2. proceed to scream and yell and ask your ceiling why the hell all these people are on this list.
3. in people - menu - choose only phone, and make sure facebook is unchecked. That seems to solve 50% of the problem.
But when you go to dial, every single person from hell to heaven shows up in that phone list, and there is no way to filter just "phone" contacts, vs. "facebook" contacts like you can do in your people app. Is there anyway, somehow, at this point in time, that you can get rid of those FB friends from your phone list? Or do we have to deal with this for now? And also, I'm ready to just remove facebook, and use the mobile site, because I can't stand typing in john, and having 2 in my phone book, but 20 come up because of my FB friends who I don't give a rat's a$$ about. What have we found yet, and sorry if I'm being redundant, that being said, that's no excuse for being redundant but I did use the search feature and I found nothing but derailed posts, and complaints, but what we need is a solution for this.
HTC Droid Eris :: Sync Facebook Contacts With My Phone
Sep 3, 2010So in early May, I got the Android update thing for my Droid Eris. I started it, and it took forever. Ever since then, I can't link my Facebook account to my phone. I've seen a lot of similar situations but nothing exactly the same. I can't link any of my phone contacts to my Facebook contacts. I have the Facebook for HTC Sense and the Facebook app. I can log on and view my Facebook accout, etc but when I go to People my contacts don't have pictures. I've tried to go to menu > settings > account & sync and remove my Facebook for HTC Sense account and manually sync or whatever. Still didn't work. A "force close" message appears every time I try to sync, yet my Google accounts will sync. I've tried going to each contact and manually link them to their Facebook profile but nothing even loads, as in it will say I have no friends to choose from (whomp whomp). I finally gave in and installed that Sync My Pix app but I'm not satisfied. Mainly, because that app saves all the contacts pictures in my photo albums and it doesn't do their status updates, etc. Really, I just don't want an app to make my phone do something it's already suppose to do.

All is good there.My problem is that the handsfree bluetooth system in my car will only sync contacts with the Captivate's built-in Phone address book (vs the "Corporate" address book in Contacts Display Options).Right now, I have been exporting Corporate Contacts to the SD card and then importing them from the SD card into the Phone contacts. This can be a chore when I have to add/modify/delete a contact in my Corporate contacts as I have to delete all the Phone contacts and then redo the export/import every time there is a change.Is there anyway to sync changes automatically between the Corporate address book and the Phone address book? Am I overlooking something really simple?
