View 4 RepliesI utilize a Sony Vaio SZ series notebook withXP SP3 and Windows Outook (with Office Pro 2003). How will I be able to sync my mobile phone contacts and bookmarks from previous SE phone models that are saved on my hard drive and put them into the new Xperia X10?
View 7 Replies View RelatedBecause of several issues with SE sync, I am trying to use Google sync instead. However, this is also not working as expected: I wished to have all my phone contacts transferred from the phone to Gmail contact list. I started with an empty Gmail contact list. I enabled Google sync as described on the SE website. I don't know exactly what it does, but I also enabled Settings -> Data synchro -> Gmail (perhaps related to my e-mails?)
Result: Calendar syncs without problem. Contacts do not transfer from phone to Gmail
Second trial: I created a new contact "A" on GmailI created a new contact "B" on the phoneI ran sync
Result: Contact "A" synced successfully from Gmail to phone. No sync of contact "B" from phone to Gmail.
Third trial: I modified contact "A" on the phoneI ran sync
Result: The modification done on the phone did not sync to Gmail
Hints from the phone: When I try using Google sync for calendar, the sync icon shows for some seconds, before the date of last sync is updated. All ok. When I try using Google sync for contacts, the sync icon shows for 5-15 minutes. It then disappears, but no date of last sync is added. When I check the contact list, contacts have been synced from Gmail, but not to Gmail.
When I select Settings -> Data synchro -> Gmail, the sync icon blinks for some seconds with a yellow warning triangle. I don't know if this is related to my Gmail e-mails. The e-mails in the Gmail app are loaded without problem.I have already tried going to "manage application" and clear data for "Gmail" and "Gmail storage". I should probably mention that I synced my phone contacts with Gmail some months ago, without problems. This means that my Gmail contact list was not empty when I started messing with this. However, on my first sync attempt, contact lists on the phone and on Gmail were not synced. Instead, all Gmail contacts were added to the phone, causing 95% duplicate entries. I exported my Gmail contacts, deleted the entire Gmail contact list, and synced again to remove duplicate entries from the phone. Then started the process above. I would rather avoid deleting all the contacts from the phone to reload them from Gmail or SE sync, because addresses, facebook/twitter connections, etc. do not sync well.
My week old phone seems to randomly select contacts and deletes them from my phone. I have to then log onto the website and go into the synchronisation page and rummage around in the contacts trash to restore them and then re-sync..
I have the Google Sync selected within the Data Synchornisation settings but I have auto synchronisation turned off.
Do I need to change my sync settings or is there a problem?
Seems SE is ignoring the bulk of their users who use Outlook (like the majority of businesses do) without providing any path for those that use Outlook to whatever future they see. Hopefully, I can get my money back for my X10.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having "fun" with syncing my X10 with gmail. Like an idiot I turned on the sync with the default "All contacts" setting and discovered that it'd hosed my phone's contacts (because I didn't have any in gmail - it's a new account). So I put some of the contacts back in and switched to the MyContacts/ Starred Android Contacts bit. Gmail contacts then seemed to be saved to the phone, but there was no exchange the other way. This morning, I tried a manual contact sync (from Settings) and it 'spins' for about 1-2 seconds and then stops, leaving the symbol up on the screen, and the last update time isn't updated from last night. Needless to say the new contacts from the phone aren't being sent up to gmail. A quick check of the phone logs (Android System Info app) isn't helpful.Edit: forgot to mention that Calendar sync works fine - with events being exchanged between X10 and gmail just fine. I know there's 'issues' with the initial sync (according to Google's support forums) but anyone out there had the same problem and - more importantly - got a resolution.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two groups of contacts "MyContacts" and "Utilities". When I set up synching I selected to copy "All contacts".
Unfortunatey, when I look what's on my area on sonyericsson.com/wportal I see only the contacts from the group "MyContacts".
I.e. the site creates a false feeling of security - if I need to restore my phone from this site I will irrecovarebly lose lots of data.
I don't know is SE forgot to test their function or Android-hackers don't understand the features of the contacts.
All area of handling the contacts stinks seriously, and mkes you wander if the Android people ever used a mobile phone :
1. X10 does not accept contacts sent via SMS (VCARD-format), (or via MMS or bluetooth)
2. X10 does not sync with Outlook where most of business people have their contacts, and maintain them when receiving corporate mails etc.
3. The only way to get the contacts is to export from PC to a csv-file and import to gmail, and then sync to the phone. This is not that flexible due the export via csv. I.e. If I create cntacts in the phone they will not reach Outlook.
Just received my Xperia X10i today. Is it possible to sync my Microsoft Outlook Contacts, calendar etc?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAnytime I add a contact detail via the handset if I let it sync, either via Google or SE, the contact will be wiped which is pretty useless (basically I cannot add new contacts on the handset, preposterous!). I contacted SE help, they recommended I use the software update program to update the handset software. I have done this but the update software tells me the handset is running the latest software, the problem persists.

I have tried it for a couple of days and it works great the best all round android phone explorer, it is free but has a donate option which to be fair.
For 1-2 weeks I cant sync my contacts with google any more.
I have turned auto sync off and just try to do it manually
It tries for like 5 sec then says "there is a problem with sync, it should work soon, try again" or something like that.
Now this HAS worked before, even after I updated to 2.1, but now it just wont.
Think its a great way to keep a backup of the contacts.
Manual sync for Gmail in the same menu works fine.
I made a account on the community of sony erricsson so i can sync and update my data from the net.

Have loads and loads of questions but these are most pressing.
I was surprised that SONY is not providing a software which enables the user to sync the Xperia X10 mini pro directly with your computer (e.g. Outlook).
After wasting a lot of time I generated an account at Sony webpage and managed all my accounts including "birthday" but now I found out that the
phone is not creating a corresponding calendar entry and therefore my phone is not reminding me for any birthday.
I have my first ever phone without buttons...Sony Experia X10i which i imported my contacts from my sim card. I have installed Sony Ericsson PC Companion on my computer and I managed to add new contacts by adding them on my pc and then sync-ing which updated the contacts on my phone! (I was proud of my achievment...I use my calendar on my phone heaps and I was wondering if I can sync that to my Microsoft Outlook Express 2007 Calendar?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf I fill out the address and birthday fields on the web site contacts page. Sync to my phone fails. If I fill out the address field on my phone, then it doesn't complete the relevant fields on the web site. The address fields on the web site are different to the phone and fields on the site are not supported by the phone's address book. It seems like the two are running different software and are slightly incompatible

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Xperia X10i with Android 2.1 in it.I have enabled contact sync between my gmail and phone contacts. Whereas contacts sync from gmail to phone works like a charm but it does not happen the other way round. That means any new contact created in the phone does not get synced with gmail. Is this a common problem? Has anyone found any solution for it? Does an SE moderator or staff care to drop in and enlighten on this issue.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI saw that there are already a number of discussions about sony erricson synchronization but I cannot find one for this specific message: Synchronization failed. It wouldn't tell me why it failed, it just spits out that generic message after I click "Finish" in the Sony Ericsson Sync Client Wizard.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'd like to use my X10 to keep all of my contacts' postal addresses in instead of the tatty old address book I carry in my handbag(!) I didn't fancy typing them all into the phone, so thought I would use the Sony Ericsson sync and put them into the pc first via the PC Companion sync application, and set up the sync to transfer them into my phone. I have tried a test run adding only a couple of addresses to my contacts on the pc, and adding one to my phone, but when I do a sync, the addresses don't transfer either way. I know that the actual sync is working because I added photos too and they transfer....... I must be doing something wrong that is easily rectified?
