View 13 RepliesI see a Sprint Hotspot app on the Epic. What happens if you press it? Does it auto-activate the hotspot, or does it check to see if you have the add-on plan before it can be used?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to read up on the Droid X's Wifi Hot Spot, but I can't find much about it other than little bits and pieces. From what it sounds like is that the Droid X will act as a wireless router for up to 5 devices. So I can fire it up, and my laptop can connect to it to get internet access on my laptop.I've read that up to 2GB/mo data will cost around $20/month through Verizon. Is this on top of the monthly data plan that I already pay for?I've also read that there are some phones you can root and once rooted, you can get unlimited wifi hot spot.I'm sure it will be awhile before the Droid X gets rooted, but until that happens, I'd like to know what my options are.
View 1 Replies View Relateddo you know the g-spot locator? This is such a funny new app for Android. Its information plus gaming in one app. And I wondered, what others think about this or if someone has already downloaded it. So give me your opinions
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had my epic for a few weeks now and today was the first time I've tried to use the hot spot feature.I'm not rooted (and thus am still running on the stock Samsung image).I can successfully get my laptop to connect to the phone, yet I cannot connect to the interwebs through the phone.I have 4G turned on, but it will not connect when I have the hot spot turned on.Obviously I'm doing something wrong?4G can be turned on and will connect fine, then I can turn on the hot spot and it will disconnect. This is without me even connecting my laptop yet. What gives? Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a known issue and I've just not come across the thread that blatantly explains this?
View 1 Replies View Relatedif I read this correctly, with 2.2 Android OS we have capability to turn our phones into WiFi hotspot, but it come at cost from Verizon. I already pay $45 for corporate unlimited data usage, paying anything extra on top of that for the times when I use my phone as hot spot just seems ridicules.
Isn't there any apps or ways to avoid the extra gridy charge from Verizon for the WiFi hotspot usage?
those of you in 4G areas, are you still getting the mobile hotspot for free? I was wondering if the update fixed that? I still have access but I didn't add it as a feature.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI notice on my EVO that on certain parts of the screen it seems to dip and has " soft spots". It's likely to assume that all EVOS were made the same so I am wondering if anyone else has noticed this. When holding the phone in landscape mode, I feel a dipping sensation when sliding my thumb at around the top right and bottom corner of the phone, also towards the center of the screen. Or just sliding my finger around the screen or pressing/ typing. In general I can feel the soft spots.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSprint has not blocked the hotspot feature on the evo, it works without buying the plan, i heard we can probably get it for another month or so.
View 47 Replies View RelatedIn the world of overclocking faster isn't always better. Your CPU may be capable of a high overclock but may actually run faster at a lower overclock.
With the new Snap 8.1 kernel, I am able to run my EVO at 1.22 stable, however, after much benchmarking, I would say it seems to run a bit faster at 1.15. So at this point I would say 1.15 is the sweet spot for this CPU. Opinions?
How do I properly set-up/use my mobile Hot Spot? When I turn my hot spot on my Epic, my computer will say it's connected but I can't get on the internet or anything. Is there something I'm not doing or something i don't know?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought a droid x, and about 5 days after, i got a red dot, about the size of a pin head (i am assuming a pixel or something) that was REALLY bright, and stayed present no matter what wallpaper i had up, or anything like that. so i exchanged it, and the same thing happened, just in a different spot on the screen and the dot was green, this one lasted almost two weeks, SO i went back in and exchanged it, and again, same issue, different location and the dot was blue. this dot was not right in the middle of the screen ever, but it was fairly close to it, and literally the size of a needle point, smaller than .7mm pencil lead, but it was REALLY bright and stood out over everything and i found it annoying and couldnt deal with it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs in, I rooted my Droid X and installed wireless tethering. I got my girlfriend to try to access the internet with her laptop via my Droid X's connection and she was able to do it.My question is, how can I dictate who is and who isn't allowed to use my connection. Say I'm tethering wirelessly and someone I don't know wants to use the connection as well. How can I disable them from doing so while still being capable myself?
View 7 Replies View Relatedidk what those 2 things are, it looks useful but i dont understand what is used for and how.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there an app or setting for the Hero that would alert you to the fact you are in an open source wifi spot?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs it the same? I'm thinking wifi tether is only one computer and hot spot is up to 5. Will root give hot spot or just tether?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do you know that an APK signature is not a fake?
What is to stop somebody unpacking an APK, inserting malicious code, repacking the APK, and signing it with a new key that simply copies all of the fields from the original publishers key (company name, locations, etc...)? Obviously it is not the same key, but all of the data the end user would see appears to be the same.
If the original key had to be signed by a trusted authority (as is the case with trusted ClickOnce applications for instance), you could have some certainty that this key was issued to the original company. Similarly, if publishers made their public keys available from a trusted outlet (e.g. google.com/android/keys) you could check that they were correct from the fingerprint.
It would appear that signing only gives you the illusion of security, which is actually worse than no security at all.
I'm currently running OS 2.3.4 and just recently I've noticed there's a spot on the top right of my home screen that when i move an icon to that area the icon disappears. I can arrange icon all around that spot and everything's fine, but when I try to put an icon in the spot it disappears. So now I have a blank spot on my home where i can't place an icon.

View 44 Replies View RelatedI'm on EVO #2 now. #1 failed after what I believe to be an overheating issue when using outside for a couple hours. So today I'm at the Red Bull Flugtag taking pics and video. Its warm(HOT)...after a couple hours I notice that I now have a dead touch spot on my screen. If you were to divide the screen into 4 quadrants...the lower left quadrant is now 100% completely unresponsive to touch. Rebooted, took the battery out, did a hard reset like Sprint advised all to no avail. I'm now on the waiting list again at BB.

View 2 Replies View RelatedForums often become a battleground of moans and gripes.I'd just like to point out that the GPS location is absouletly spot on and I for one am dead impressed. It's a shame the compass is so susceptible to local interference. Doh. I just couldn't stop myself.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI pre ordered my Evo couple weeks ago, and the other night I was talking to my mom about it when I brought up Tethering feature and her eyes lit up. She currently uses a Tracfone (yea I know hahahaha) and is asking about getting added on to my plan, which i don't mind. My parents go camping alot and my mom is kind of addicted to Facebook (Farmville in general), so shes trying to look into mobile internet. I know there's a $29.99 fee for activating the hotspot everymonth, but I'm curious if that she activated it on her Evo, and I also did later in the month, does it bill per phone, or plan? Anyone have an idea what I'm talking about?
View 2 Replies View Relateddoes anyone know how to load 'cover art' into the blank top spot on the screen when a song plays?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI drove to a friends house last night to see the fireworks. We had to walk about a mile to get to our sitting spot. About half way there (where there was hardly any coverage) my phone reboot. On the way back about 1 1/2 hours later (in the exact same spot) my phone rebooted again. Wonder if/when this issue will be fixed?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm looking at how Android supports wifi portable hot spot functionality with a view to writing simple home screen widget that allows people to turn the phone's wifi hotspot on and off without digging into the device settings.
There was nothing obvious at developer.android.com so I dug through my copy of the Android source code and found that the WifiManager class (android.net.wifi.WifiManager) provides the basics to allow the state to be queried. So as well as 'getWifiState()' there is 'getWifiApState()' and a matching set of state constants.
However, in my bang-up-to-date Eclipse IDE, this class has none of the Ap methods or constants. Can anyone shed any light on this?
So they finally allowed the PSX4Droid to be released on the marketplace and I've tried out 5 ROMS. Post what you've tried and what works so we can all know what to download. Here's what I tried:
Oddworld Abe's Oddyssey - trailing images, background messed up. Sound is good, video images at beginning work great. Trailing images and background are disappointing.
Oddworld Abe's Exoddus - same as the first one.
Crash Bandicoot 2 - images ok, sound great but verrrry laggy.
Need for Speed III Hot Pursuit - flawless from what I experienced. Sound great, images great, video great.
Metal Gear Solid - most disappointing. Loads fine, goes to the menu, you select your difficulty....blank. I've tried from 2 rom sites. No dice.
Overall experience, disappointing. There really needs to be an update so these roms can work properly.
