So I've successfully obtained root using the beautiful unrevoked3 application, and have proceeded to try and flash hboot down to 0.76.2000, but am unable. I'm using ROM Manager with ClockworkMod, and every attempt leads to the screen flashing code for a few moments, and going right into the ClockworkMod Recovery main menu. It's not just hboot that will not flash, I am also unable to flash anything else including the radio (which does the same exact flashing code / Clockwork main menu) and even CyanogenMod which gives an error that seemingly indicates hboot is not at the right version. I'm not sure exactly where to look, anyone have any ideas, something I might be missing?

I am rooted with unrevoked 3 so I tried to flash fresh 2.2 today but my phone is stuck on the screen that says "fresh" after rebooting. It's been that way for an hour. I tried pulling the battery and reflashing from the bootloader but it does the exact same thing.

Got the phone about 2 months ago and decided today to try out this ROM stuff. Doing great so far only problem is: I backed up my contacts with mybackup (free from market) and when I try to restore them from online, I did not make a SD card back up . I get an I/O: Cannot write to phone error.

I am not tech savy at all and I just pulled this off! I rooted and installed Fresh 2.3.3. I've read that you need to change the "kernel" but dont how to do this. I found this thread [KERNEL][7/22/10]Darchstar's Overclocked Undervolted kernel for senseUI roms vUV 2 - xda-developers but its not making sense either. Also read about SetCPU to increase speed. Can someone please post up links and explanations?

First time rooter and successfully rooted Fresh 2.1.1. I used the HTC sync to install the stock apk's, since they were removed from the ROM. Got a few successfully installed, then I got errors and could not install anymore. After a break I tried to connect to HTC sync, but now I'm unable to. I tried with usb debugger on and off without success.

I have been reading myself in circles & am a bit confused on which way to go. I am enjoying the Evo but I would like the wireless tether. I guess there are other rooted things in the future I could install but the big draw for me is replacing my wmwifirouter on my WM device on my Evo.
I just don't know what the downsides are for one over other other. I think that Fresh has tethering already built in but I don't know if there are issues with the SD card or other items. Or should I just get the stock ROM that is rooted over at XDA?

Not sure how to do this. Unfortunately it's not as easy as erasing them from a my es file manager. I'm trying to get rid of the standard music player (Rock On from SlideMe is still a tad glitchy, but it's mostly fantastic for it's ineffable ability to land artwork for every album and the last.fm tour finder) and also Sprint Navigation (pointless with Google Maps).

After using Fresh's 2.0d for the last month, I decided to try DC 2.08. I did a Titanium Backup, copied 2.08 to the SD, wiped the phone and the dalvik and installed from the SD card. After the installation, the phone boots up but is stuck on the HTC logo screen (the white background that says "quietly brilliant"). It looks like it is looping as it shows the sprint screen every few minutes before going back to the HTC screen. I've tried wiping and reinstalling, but I am getting the same result.
FWIW, I root using Fresh Kitchen's auto-root if that matters.
Any suggestions? Should I try to flash Fresh's 2.1.2?

I havent seen a thread on this yet, and im sure this will help those of you wanting to flash a custom ROM (even a rooted version of Froyo!)after rooting your phone with unrevoked 3.1
Step ONE:
The first thing to do is to download and install Titanium Backup from the market, and backup all of your apps and user data.Once this is done, shut your phone off.
STEP TWO:
Press and hold your volume up button. then press and release your power key while continuing to hold your volume up button.
Your phone will boot into a white background menu that has green text at the top, followed by FASTBOOT highlighted in red, followed by text in orange, then 4 options. You can release your volume up key once this menu is up.

I just rooted and have the superuser icon in my tray. I installed ROM manager and did a manual download of Ultimate Droid 0.8 and placed it in a directory on my SD card. I went to ROM manager and did an install from SD card, went to the directory, clicked the ROM and when prompted for Backup/Wipe chose wipe, I previously did a backup with Clockwork upon installing it. The phone reboots to a triagle with exclamation point and does nothing else. A battery pull will bring my phone back. What am I doing wrong?

I used mskip's toolkit to root my device, which succeeded, but I am unable to flash a custom rom. I've tried to flash 2 different versions of paranoid android, using cwm recovery, but I get the following error :
'assert failed: getprop("ro. build. product. device")...
E: Error in /sdcard/0/download/pa_grouper...
(Status 7)
BTW, I had no problems flashing pa to my Nexus 4&10 and loving that rom.

I have been lucky enough to been given a Huawei P1 and a P1 XL.
I have managed to root it successfully which is great but the rom on both does not come with Google Apps Suite.
I know it's possible to flash the gapps once rooted and you have a recovery on Huawei's as I have done this on my honour.
The Chinese recovery available for P1 doesn't work on my P1 or XL.
Is there any way to flash the gapps packaged without a recovery or to do it manually?

This is where I am now near enough after a day of doing this. I rooted my phone initially and it seemed to work, I had superuser permissions but it didn't seem to be fully rooted, I couldn't flash any ROMS and when in HBOOT setting, when I tried to go through the recovery part to flash the ROM the red triangle just stayed there it didn't change. I thought if I rerooted it may help, so I did, with the same step by step guide, however when I connected the phone and opened the windows push batch files the red triangle didn't change and I had to disconnect and turn the phone back on.
So now I have my phone which I do not think is fully rooted as the push files didn't work properly and I cannot flash any ROMS as I cannot run the recovery mode properly or get to use clock work mod as the red triangle is just always there. Everyone seems to have been having success and I just cannot seem to get anywhere. I have tried so many things from downloading custom ROMS from modaco etc. but I cannot flash any ROMS and now I'm just stuck. If there is a way I can properly just root the phone and flash the ROMS id be happy, I feel like I know what to do, but I just do not understand why when rooting, the last part when u connect the phone and open the push files didn't work, and also why when i thought the rooting had worked the first time, i still couldn't get to the part where I flash the ROMS.

I just rooted my phone. I'm not new to rooting either. And when I was pulling up a file, I got this screen. Another interesting thing, is that we have a file called FlashSVGPlayer.apk embedded into the phone, and FlashPlugin.apk
Update:
FlashPlugin.apk is Pineone Flashlite Plugin.
but FlashSVGPlayer.apk is Adobe Flash Player.

Attempting to root and upgrade to CyanogenMod-6. I've followed all the steps here, and it appears to be successful according to the Unrevoked software. Now, the guide for Cyanogen is pretty vague, so I've been following this guide too. After Unrevoked states that everything was a success, I have to reboot the phone (hard reboot, pulling the battery out).
When I run Rom Manager, any flashing I do is followed by the reboot, which takes me to the Android splash screen for a second, then either the phone will go entirely black, or I will see the splash screen with a black bar on the top. I can't do anything at this point, and have to hard reset. I've backed up everything, and currently my phone is still fine, even after selecting "Wipe data" etc., in Rom Manager.

I have been waiting and reading for months with regard to getting a new phone. I currently have an old Nokia N96 so any modern phone will be an upgrade, however I need to mae sure that the new phone has at least the same quality camer and video recorder as my N96. I had almost set my self on the Iphone 4 but luckily I waited an what a good choice that was with all the problems the iphone 4 is having. So yet again I started looking and have always liked the x10 because of its build and camera but hated it because of it having old 1.6 android and no hd recording or flash. Then suddenly I read the somone has managed to root the x10 and so im guessing that it wont be long until 2.2 with flash and hd recording and multitouch is released ?

I have a rooted Droid Eris with celb froyo 3.3. Before this I had kaosfroyo v34. Before I rooted my phone I was able to connect to my PC, then, a few months later I couldn't. This was all before I rooted my phone. Then I rooted it on my parents computer and put kaos on it, and it started to work for a day then quit the next time I connected it to their computer. It even connected to my computer. I have no "connect PC" option in my settings. No USB notification in my notifications on my phone and PC says USB device not recognize. All my USBs are good bcuz my keyboard and mouse work fine.
