View 13 RepliesI have rooted my eris to 2.1. Then yesterday I flashed the recovery image and the flash image and put on grd lock's Vanilla Rom. If I want to put on a different Rom, do I have to flash the recovery image again?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I have a ROOTED Eris (checked positively using terminal emulator) running a 2.1v3 ROM. What I'd like to do is eventually get to the 2.1 OTA ROM. Earlier I downloaded ROM Manager which, after some searching gave me some problems other people have been having. I can't flash to the ClockworkMod recovery image as it gives me a "Error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!" message. I tried reinstalling, fixing permissions etc. all with the same results. So now i'm trying to flash Amon's recovery image instead using Terminal Emulator and the command line: only to yield the message that the file could not be found or something. I'm on a mac and I saw another way on here that involves running commands from your computer to your phone using the skd. I started to do that only to run into a "permission denied" when attempting the first "adb" command line. Am I missing something? I'm trying to read and re-read as closely as I can. I'm not entirely comfortable with this whole process but I'm trying to take the time to really understand it and i'm still having difficulties.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThere are probably threads about this already that my lurking has missed, but I'm trying to install the flash_image and recovery-ra-eris.img. I tried using this,

but when I get to adb shell flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-ra-eris.img, I get an error saying the flash_image not installed. Is there a better and/or easier way to get the flash_image and recovery-ra-eris.img install on my eris so I can get a nandroid backup? I really want to back everything up before I attempt to throw kaosfroyo on there.
I just got my phone rooted and got the root image to load and did all that fun stuff but now im trying to get the recovery and flash image and i cant get it to work. i think SDK is the issue. i go to the command prompt and type in what the guide says and it saying "error device not found" i even did the all in one install on the guide page and it comes up with the same message.... does anyone have the slightest idea of how to get this worked out. im running windows xp with service pack three.

So I've successfully obtained root using the beautiful unrevoked3 application, and have proceeded to try and flash hboot down to 0.76.2000, but am unable. I'm using ROM Manager with ClockworkMod, and every attempt leads to the screen flashing code for a few moments, and going right into the ClockworkMod Recovery main menu. It's not just hboot that will not flash, I am also unable to flash anything else including the radio (which does the same exact flashing code / Clockwork main menu) and even CyanogenMod which gives an error that seemingly indicates hboot is not at the right version. I'm not sure exactly where to look, anyone have any ideas, something I might be missing?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI rooted with unrevoked3 on a Mac so how can I flash a ROM on this thing. For example the Fresh ROM?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI havent seen a thread on this yet, and im sure this will help those of you wanting to flash a custom ROM (even a rooted version of Froyo!)after rooting your phone with unrevoked 3.1
Step ONE:
The first thing to do is to download and install Titanium Backup from the market, and backup all of your apps and user data.Once this is done, shut your phone off.
STEP TWO:
Press and hold your volume up button. then press and release your power key while continuing to hold your volume up button.
Your phone will boot into a white background menu that has green text at the top, followed by FASTBOOT highlighted in red, followed by text in orange, then 4 options. You can release your volume up key once this menu is up.
I just rooted and have the superuser icon in my tray. I installed ROM manager and did a manual download of Ultimate Droid 0.8 and placed it in a directory on my SD card. I went to ROM manager and did an install from SD card, went to the directory, clicked the ROM and when prompted for Backup/Wipe chose wipe, I previously did a backup with Clockwork upon installing it. The phone reboots to a triagle with exclamation point and does nothing else. A battery pull will bring my phone back. What am I doing wrong?

I used mskip's toolkit to root my device, which succeeded, but I am unable to flash a custom rom. I've tried to flash 2 different versions of paranoid android, using cwm recovery, but I get the following error :
'assert failed: getprop("ro. build. product. device")...
E: Error in /sdcard/0/download/pa_grouper...
(Status 7)
BTW, I had no problems flashing pa to my Nexus 4&10 and loving that rom.
I have been lucky enough to been given a Huawei P1 and a P1 XL.
I have managed to root it successfully which is great but the rom on both does not come with Google Apps Suite.
I know it's possible to flash the gapps once rooted and you have a recovery on Huawei's as I have done this on my honour.
The Chinese recovery available for P1 doesn't work on my P1 or XL.
Is there any way to flash the gapps packaged without a recovery or to do it manually?
I've used this guide for rooting and rooted him smooth BUT,when I do this step: 5. Run "Terminal Emulator". Type (press and hold menu to get the keyboard up) in the following: su (press enter and wait for the "Super User Request Prompt". Choose "Allow" and make sure its ticked to Allow every time.) flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img it replies: flash_image: not found.... (and i did typing OK,I tried with renamed and un-renamed file). OK,then I tried with Flash rec from this tutorial BUT.... Flash custom recovery is missing. There is only: download recovery image button, but blanked. I just don't get it,img file is in /sd/recovery.img or longer version: /sd/recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.2.
View 10 Replies View RelatedThis is where I am now near enough after a day of doing this. I rooted my phone initially and it seemed to work, I had superuser permissions but it didn't seem to be fully rooted, I couldn't flash any ROMS and when in HBOOT setting, when I tried to go through the recovery part to flash the ROM the red triangle just stayed there it didn't change. I thought if I rerooted it may help, so I did, with the same step by step guide, however when I connected the phone and opened the windows push batch files the red triangle didn't change and I had to disconnect and turn the phone back on.
So now I have my phone which I do not think is fully rooted as the push files didn't work properly and I cannot flash any ROMS as I cannot run the recovery mode properly or get to use clock work mod as the red triangle is just always there. Everyone seems to have been having success and I just cannot seem to get anywhere. I have tried so many things from downloading custom ROMS from modaco etc. but I cannot flash any ROMS and now I'm just stuck. If there is a way I can properly just root the phone and flash the ROMS id be happy, I feel like I know what to do, but I just do not understand why when rooting, the last part when u connect the phone and open the push files didn't work, and also why when i thought the rooting had worked the first time, i still couldn't get to the part where I flash the ROMS.
I just rooted my phone. I'm not new to rooting either. And when I was pulling up a file, I got this screen. Another interesting thing, is that we have a file called FlashSVGPlayer.apk embedded into the phone, and FlashPlugin.apk
Update:
FlashPlugin.apk is Pineone Flashlite Plugin.
but FlashSVGPlayer.apk is Adobe Flash Player.
Attempting to root and upgrade to CyanogenMod-6. I've followed all the steps here, and it appears to be successful according to the Unrevoked software. Now, the guide for Cyanogen is pretty vague, so I've been following this guide too. After Unrevoked states that everything was a success, I have to reboot the phone (hard reboot, pulling the battery out).
When I run Rom Manager, any flashing I do is followed by the reboot, which takes me to the Android splash screen for a second, then either the phone will go entirely black, or I will see the splash screen with a black bar on the top. I can't do anything at this point, and have to hard reset. I've backed up everything, and currently my phone is still fine, even after selecting "Wipe data" etc., in Rom Manager.
I have been waiting and reading for months with regard to getting a new phone. I currently have an old Nokia N96 so any modern phone will be an upgrade, however I need to mae sure that the new phone has at least the same quality camer and video recorder as my N96. I had almost set my self on the Iphone 4 but luckily I waited an what a good choice that was with all the problems the iphone 4 is having. So yet again I started looking and have always liked the x10 because of its build and camera but hated it because of it having old 1.6 android and no hd recording or flash. Then suddenly I read the somone has managed to root the x10 and so im guessing that it wont be long until 2.2 with flash and hd recording and multitouch is released ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Xperia neo V that is running on ics 4.0.4.
Recently I rooted my phone without unlocking bootloader.
Now I need to flash custom rom on to my rooted device with locked bootloader. How can I do it?
In order to root, I've got to have Flash_image in the system/bin directory. I don't have that file in the directory. I have the flash_image file from the RUU 2.1 leak I installed yesterday, but due to having no root access, I cannot copy the file into the system/bin folder.
I tried rooting and got stuck at flash_image recovery recovery-RA-heroc-v1.5.2.img because it kept saying "flash_image not found"
I am trying to root my incredible.
I have gotten as far as the Unrevoked3 saying it is "flashing recovery image, do not touch your phone"
How long does this take?
I have been waiting on it for 45 mins now...
I finaly decided to root via easy root and everything worked just fine, I used clockwork recovery to create an image on my sd card. then I kept getting the message every few minutes for the froyo update.
after doing some reading most people thought that it was ok to let it try and update in order to get rid of the annoying update available message. it was thought that clockwork would block the update on the reboot.
not so, 2.2 did sucessfully install and of course I lost root.
I tried to "re root" using easy root but it will not accept my code, and I see on therir webpage that 2.2d is not supported yet
I need to know how to flash back to the image I have on my sd card as I can't take the slow, buggy 2.2d any longer.
root android minix x5 mini step by step...and how to flash image?
