Trying to take some of the bloatware off of my HTC evo, but whenever i delete apps and reboot go to settings and try to bring up Accounts & Sync I get an error saying The application Accounts & Sync has stopped unexpectedly. What apps are needed for this to work, and what apps can i not delete.

I've read and re-read and (still) read some more about this topic, but I am getting no where... Perhaps If I post the question, some one can PLEASE assist?I have a Gmail addy for a side business, and I created that account on my (EVO) phone "initially". I originally did a sync with it. However, after some thought, I decided to create a personal Gmail account and wanted ALL of my phone's contacts to sync with THAT newly created personal Gmail account. No can do.Although I have the original Gmail account's settings on "off" (not to sync at all), when I sync the phone to Google, all calendar events are there on the new G account, but NOT the contacts. They are simply not coming over?

I am seriously considering the hero having had a G1 and digging that before i was sucked into the iphone web (at&t bleeps). A couple questions that will either seal/break the deal: can you multitask on the hero as you can in the pre? i-e: have pandora going while you check email and answer a text? pre's web OS allows syncing with all three of my accounts: gmail, yahoo and hotmail. notifications for all three show up along with threaded conversations w/ various contacts. Can the hero also do this? or is yahoo/hotmail restricted as it they are on the iphone?

So I have 3 Gmail Accounts in the Gmail app. My question pertains to how Android syncs the contact lists (which include many of the same contacts) from these 3 separate accounts. Will I end up with dozens of duplicate contacts? If so, is there a workaround? Also, is there an easier way to switch between different Gmail accounts? E.g., in the Gmail app, you have to go to Menu then Accounts, which is inefficient. The built-in mail app displays a list of accounts when you open it (an ideal approach), but I would prefer to not open my Gmail accounts in the default mail app.

I have two Gmail accounts and one school email app. All of the settings are set to check every 5 minutes. All three email accounts have been syncing fine for the first two days that I have had the phone, but all of a sudden the two Gmail accounts have stopped autosyncing. However, none of the settings have changed. My school email receives all my emails every 5 minutes, but my two Gmail accounts will only get the email once I enter the accounts and do a manual sync. Both of my Gmail accounts are set to IMAP and they are all on the right settings.

I have lost contact information twice (once going to Galaxy, and again when coming back to TW for the update). I have Exchange email configured as well, but none of my contacts reside in that "addressbook" as far as I can tell everything should be being saved back to Google. I have contacts that exist on in Google (verified from my computer) that I updated phone numbers for that disappeared after I did a factory wipe. My sync settings are all checked and from everything I can tell I should be syncing continuously. Clearly I must be missing something, but I have no idea what it is. That "data in the cloud" safety net has not worked for me twice and I'd like not to get burned again.

Whenever I try to sync it goes through the motions but nothing syncs.
I have a clean Outlook install with nothing in it and the contacts and calendar entries on Desire came fromm synching with Google account.
For some reason HTC Sync doesn't see anything on the phone and reports no added / updated / removed items - so it syncs nothing.
Any ideas how I can get my contacts & calendar entries on the desire to show up so it can sync with outlook?
I am using an HTC Magic (Firmware version 1.5) and I am having problems syncing the contacts with Microsoft Outlook (on Windows XP). After I initiated a sync, the phone will reboot itself (after a couple of minutes, during the stage "Preparing data from your phone") and return the error "2 General" "No connection to the phone". I have done "Factory data reset" a few times. Every time I have done the factory reset, it will work for a while and then the problem will come back again.

View 12 Replies View RelatedOne thing I do like about the iphone/ipod touch is that you set the home button to double tap and have that bring up the music controls. really basic, just brings up pause/play, forward, and back...and volume. I really miss that since I'm trying to use my Droid as my main music player now, but I hate that I have to click a widget or go to notifications to change the music. Especially when I'm driving, its would be so much easier if the controls popped up above the lock screen so i don't have to unlock every time. Any thoughts?

Activity is on screen, but when i invoke later moveTaskToBack on A activity, activity is not moved to backgorund. Does anyone know why?
Here's my problem. I have a WebView, but I don't want a new Intent to be launched when the page is redirected, so I wrote my own WebViewClient to handle this. However, I can't figure out how to get the WebViewClient to allow keyboard input. Clicking on an input box does not bring up the soft keyboard, nor can I use the hard keyboard on the G1 to input data. I don't see any methods in WebViewClient that would handle this. Anyone have any ideas?

How to construct an Intent so that it will simply show whichever Activity is already on top (in the task)? Just like if you touch an icon in the Recent list (long-press home). At the moment, it looks like (for explicit Intents) you need to be explicit about the Activity to launch. But I would rather be explicit about the app (package name). FWIW, I'm thinking of Intents triggered via Notifications.

My application is displaying information about the call and acts like a dialog (where it is translucent, so you can still see whatever is behind it). While in a call, I frequently hit the home button, and pull up other information (such as my contact list to read to someone the person's info). The other 2 just bring up the contact info and I have to select the phone number to call them. I have the primary set OK on one, but I still just get the contact info rather than dialing the number automtically.
