I am upgrading to a new phone soon. Is there a way to transfer my wifi passwords and settings to my new phone without root? I have read that Titanium Backup will do it, but I have to be rooted for that, right?

I have a built in car system that connects to the phone via bluetooth. Unfortunately, this system will not read the phonebook directly from the phone, and you need to transfer the phonebook via bluetooth to the car system.
On my old phone (Samsung i8910), you were able to go into contacts, mark all the contacts and then transfer them via bluetooth.
On the DHD I cannot seem to find an option for this. Any ideas how I can achieve this?
Is there a way to remove some of the Sprint Bloatware without rooting the phone. I know some of those apps Sprint probably sold their soul to have on the phone but some of it is just trash. I'm not looking to clear up memory or any performance improvements. I just want to do some house cleaning of junk that I will NEVER use. I was hoping for maybe an unlock code or something simpler then the root/rom way to go. I'm very satisfied with the way things are working now but some of that garbage has got to go. I know junk is standard bill of fare on new computers but you can go through and systematically delete the garbage but I'm a little offended to have something that I bought and paid for and can't even clear out the junk and personalize it to my taste.
View 23 Replies View RelatedThat is, if I re-sync it? Or will it just add the contact to my phone again? I do not like syncing with Google, because I have a lot of garbage there. I like to sync phone to outlook. (Not phone to google to outlook.) Anyway, if I just delete all the google garbage from my phone, will google just add it back again?

I was wondering if I just backed up all my stuff from my sdcard to my iMac and then just reformatted my sdcard via the phone, would that solve my problems?
I should "root" my Droid X phone, something ive not heard of before -
1) does this void the manufacturer warranty, or the $6/month im paying for verizon accidental damage warranty
2) is there a way to restore the original settings on the phone, ie make it like the root never happened if i need to? so i dont lose warranty?
I have this code to delete a Contact Group. The b value returns 1, but the delete is not performed, on activity restart I still see the record in the list. What I am doing wrong? Code...

View 2 Replies View RelatedIf I clear the data in the "Contacts Storage" tab of "Manage Applications" will this only delete the data stored on the phone itself or will it also delete the contact on the exchange server as well? I have some contacts that are duplicates because they were put in the phone before I was able to get the exchange sync set up resulting in an entry for exchange and an entry for phone when in the "People" area.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMe and a friend are trying to port a system app from the same phone but two different roms. Here's the situation. The phone is zopo zp998 and it comes with regular Android 4.2.2. Zopo is making the exact same phone for the Chinese market with on OS based on Android 4.2.2 that's called YunOS and it doesn't have Google account support so it's not usable outside China.
The YunOS has a black screen gesture feature that you can activate in the settings under display and then while the screen is Black you can make symbols on it with your finger and open specific apps. For instance if you draw the letter C the dialer will open.
My friend was able to find the system app for the gestures in YunOS and all its library files and put it in his rom. When the phone boots we can see that the gestures service is running fine but we don't have the option in the settings to activate the app. we can use on how to transfer a system setting and app like this? Is there another app we can use to trigger the on and off of the app?
So before i start rooting...can i copy all my files, pics, vids, and apps onto my comp and then transfer it back? I would like to keep some of my apps cuz they are no longer on the market. Also, i ask this because i read that you have to wipe your phone clean while rooting

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to tidy up contacts and want to transfer all the contacts on my Desire to my PC, tidy them and send them back. I had a look at the other thread s on this but they don't seem to cover Desire.
It seems I can only transfer contacts as VCards, one at a time, via bluetooth, is this the case? That would be a pain.
So, what are the alternatives? I think I can use sync but I'm not sure how. Any other options? Using the built in mailer in Desire, I assume, since I didn't load another one, and using Thunderbird on PC, if that info is pertinent.
Just got it last night at ATT b&m (for $149!!) and yes (as my lovely wife can attest) I was captivated for many an hour. Battery cycling. Overall VERY good despite the posts I've read. Very intuitive UI but I could see where some mods would be sweet. EXCELLENT GPS performance; 15-30 sec fixes INDOORS with 5-10m accuracy w/out WiFi. My BJII was never this good. Excellent You Tube performance WITH HQ playback. 8GB SDHC works flawlessly, My only suck is phone contacts transfer from WM6. BTW - bod was 7/22/10. Now on to the Market, sideloading and may be root.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAlright so I just downloaded the Froyo OTA update.I don't want to do anything too crazy with my phone, however there are a couple of things I would like to change.
1. Delete HTC lock screen, I read if you delete the htclockscreen.apk it will just use the standard "vanilla" froyo one
2. Delete all of the bloatware apps (Sprint Nav, TV, Zone, Nascar, Football, etc)
3. Wifi Tether
Will I be able to do this with just root or do I need a custom ROM? I have read through XDA and on here but I am in over my head. I'm used to jailbreaking iPhones in one step or just installing Preware.I really don't want to have to reset my phone since I have finally got it set up and looking the way I like. Can someone point me in the direction of what I need to do (unrevoked?) to enable the three things I listed? Because I am lost with rooting and unlocking nand and custom ROMs and kernels. Is it even possible to root the OTA right now, or do I need to wait?
I am big with games so I have been wanting to get an overclocking app for the Evo, but all I could find on the Market are apps for the Droid X/2. Is CPUSet the only (or the best) overclocking app for the Evo and what is the max speed you can safely overclock it? I have not rooted my phone, and just learned in order to even overclock it you need to do so. From what I have read on the forums, rooting the phone removes the warrenty. What I have not been able to find is how you back up the factory settings in order to "exploit" this if something happens to the phone in the future. This talks about it a little, but I didn't find any specifics. Quick INTRO TO ROOTING for those new to rooting
Another question I have is how much space do you actually save when it comes to rooting? Some people mainly root just gain complete control of the phone, others to increase/decrease speed and battery life, and some to save space getting rid of things like the Sprint NASCAR app. The Evo has 1G of internal memory, correct? Right now with the different apps I have installed I have 200-250mb free. I never checked what it was out of the box before installing anything, anyone have an answer there? Last question I have is with the different operating systems available. As said in the above thread (link), there are pros and cons with each (Baked, Fresh, etc.). Can anyone tell me of some for each, or is there a thread you can point me to that already does? I could only find info on Cynogon or whatever it's called.
