I have an HTC Evo and though I have added my information (including Gmail account) into the personal contact card, I can not assign a contact icon to myself.
This is by no means a big deal however it gets annoying seeing the man in the grey box in all my text conversations.

I have a picture set for one of my contact icons. I have since deleted the picture off my sd card but I still have the picture on my contact icon. Does anyone know how i could recover or save the icon picture. Where the file may be and what type of file is it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was setting up some photos for the Photo Caller ID function for incoming calls and was rather disappointed at the quality of the image that comes up. I either add an image to the contact in the People app or I go to the gallery and chose to "Set as" a contact icon. The picture pops up and you are given a little square crop/zoom tool to chose the portion of the picture that you want as you icon/photo caller ID. When I stretch the square OUT as big as possible to crop and then set the image with the contact, the caller ID image that comes up is good. However, any cropping/zooming is significantly Degrades/Pixelates the image that is chosen.
I'm not using the FULL 8MB resolution (set to 5MP) for the camera and I know if you crop and zoom any image, the more you zoom the worse the quality of the picture, But the 5MP shots I have should be MORE THAN sufficient to produce a little square of a photo caller ID. I had photo caller ID that popped up on my Palm Centro with photos was cropped to 320 x 320 and saved with LOW resolution and those photos were very clear. Even with the crop and zoom that is required to produce the contact/photo caller ID image, the 5MP photos I am using should be more than sufficient to produce a clear image. Is there a fix/trick for the quality to improve? Here we have this big beautiful screen and you crop a nice-sized 5MP picture for a tiny square caller ID photo and the quality is horrible.
Is there a way to get larger shortcut icons for contacts? I would like for one of my contacts to have a larger pic for the shortcut.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that one of my friends on their contact picture has lost the little Facebook icon overlay and that syncing with Facebook wont bring it back.
Their contact picture has been replaced by another blurry pixellated picture.
Further to this, I notice that the actual contact picture in Facebook for HTC Sense is borked and pixellated. Anyone seen anything like this before?
I'm sure this has been asked and answered - but the PHONE and CONTACT buttons at the bottom.can you change them to other uses? I never click CONTACTS so it's completely wasted space.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI know that MIUI uses a separate contact picture as a small icon (automatically downloaded), and a caller picture as a fullscreen picture when you get a call (manually set from gallery), as stated here. For me app Friendcaster automatically downloads my friends' facebook profile pictures in full size, and sets them as contact pictures. Can I use these automatically downloaded pictures as fullscreen caller pictures?

However, I am adding shortcuts to my contacts on my desktop (ala the d1) by pressing and holding the screen, then Shortcuts > Contact. I scroll to the contact and select it. and it adds them to the home screen. Unfortunately, it adds them with the WRONG icon. It IS an existing icon for a user just not the user I am selecting. Also: It is only when I add it to the home screen as a shortcut when it gets jacked. Anyone else seeing this or have a solution? Also, I use google to sync all my contacts. I use Gmail to set the icons. There is only a certain size which can be used. but on the D2, the same contact icons/images seem to be blown out. Like I COULD use a bigger size image, bug I dont think that Google allows it? Anyone know what size contact image the 2 can handle and a way to use that image through Gmail? So far, moving from a D1 to a D2Im not completely impressed. but it is faster and works well. except for this issue. And the moto blur crap. Also to note... when using the (HORRIBLE) motorola contact widget the icon/image IS correct. but cmon, is this widget even useful? How many people have only one number? And I need a 4x4 widget for one contact... mobile, home, text, email, etc.. BS. Really the function on the D1 of adding a shortcut to a contact is much better. add em, click the icon, then it asks you what you want to do (text, call, email, talk, etc)... the D2 still does this but you have to go into Contacts and click on the person first before getting the options.

Currently, when I select a contact I get the following icons:
"phone or call", "edit info", and "Instant Message"
I'd like to add to that list the "Gtalk" option.
I have a floder containing Google Earth. The normal icon has been replaced by a little droid icon labeled "loading." When I click it, Google Earth loads.

I went into contacts -> menu -> more -> settings. I am UNABLE to check/unchecked the "Phone Contacts" (it is always checked). The goggle one i am able to check/unchecked. WHY and HOW can i toggle the phone contact? Also, backup assistant only takes PHONE contacts and not GOOGLE contacts...while g mail contact sync only takes goggle contacts and NOT PHONE contacts. How can one change phone contact to goggle contact? (i have seen posts all over but no answers...and just replies saying "i have the same problem") I am trying NOT to have two (2) different types of contacts. PHONE and GOOGLE. I just want goggle contacts ( or phone contacts. so i can at least use verizon's backup assistant.

When I go to send a text message and press contacts, my contacts are there multiple times, but I can't see any differences because they are named the same. For example, my son Adam shows up twice in the contact list in text messaging, but only once when I press contacts from my home page.

It has been replaced with a new icon that looks like a stack of windows (or pages) and is always constantly lit and never changes. Is this Verizon's response to the grayed out 3G ? To remove it entirely?
