I have a new icon on my top bar. It's just left of the signal bars and looks like a tilted phone with vibration marks on either side? If it were on my camcorder, I would assume I had the anti-shake or anti-vibration function on.

It has been replaced with a new icon that looks like a stack of windows (or pages) and is always constantly lit and never changes. Is this Verizon's response to the grayed out 3G ? To remove it entirely?

This is by no means a big deal however it gets annoying seeing the man in the grey box in all my text conversations.
Ok I'm asking this in regards to my battery life. There is a 3G icon at the top. Next to it has an up and down arrow. Next to that is the bars. I'm new to all this because I've never had a smartphone so no flaming, lol.
Sometimes the 3G icon will go from lit up to dark. Does that mean it is connected, gets disconnected and tries to find a signal again? And sometimes one the arrows are lit up and the other isn't, sometimes they both are lit and sometimes neither. Is this something to do with data being downloaded and uploaded by the phone through the network?

I have already done a factory reset twice on my Ally and each time I still had 3G service......I think. At least it says 3G in the notification bar at the top so i'm assuming it's 3G. I'll be interested to see what comes of this because now I'm curious to know if I actually have 3G service.
Anyone know any real way to tell other than the 3G icon at the top?

View 2 Replies View RelatedM Droid X I have and guess everybody else has it to (GPS) icon. My question is if I leave it on do I have a monthly service for this, or is this free from Verizon. I use it a lot when I use the places icon to find stores etc. Then hit get directions and it uses google maps and act as a GPS giving me direction to the place I picked. And another question if that is the case everything that was loaded on the Droid X comes free with no service charge!

I tried turning the speaker phone on then off when I was on the phone, but it didn't make the icon go away. I can't find any settings to make it go away either.

Maybe it contains content providers, or maybe it is a license key app that just needs to be present.What is the proper way to do that? If I don't have an <application> tag at all, that works, but I don't think that is the proper way, since <provider> and <receiver> are also inside <application>.But the user experience is *unacceptable*. Instead of being removed, the icon sticks around and says 'Application not installed' until they reboot their phone, or, more likely, go for the refund.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo after using google maps to navigate somewhere today, the small icon on top of the phone saying that the gps is active will not go away or turn off. i don't have any crazy apps and i even tried using task killer to stop maps and also the force close on it from settings not sure what to do to make this go away. hopefully it's not messing with the battery life. does anyone else have this issue or know more about it?

I have troubles using my phone's GPS. The GPS location option on my phone is enabled of course. If I try to get my location using the GPS Status application for example it's impossible for me to get a lock. It doesn't even find a single satellite. Also the GPS icon does not show on top of the screen. Any help on this? I tried looking it up in the manual and on Google but found nothing really.

i have the widget set up to where it is a scroll box of all my friends and stuff but on one of my friends, it has an icon on the bottom right hand corner of her pic and i dont like it. i always clicked on her name instead of the pic but is there a way to get rid of the icon? i tried removing the widget and replacing and it is still there. i hit menu and hit widget action but all it gives me is send message, view contact, etc and i dont want it to do any of that becuase the little icon ruins the pic.
