So I realized after getting a calendar reminder, the lock screen just stays on until you dismiss it. So then I checked by just turning the EVO without a reminder to see if the lock screen would shut down and the backlight just stays on that way as well.. Can others test this out and see if there screen shuts off or is there a separate setting for the lock screen?

I was messaging around today and found where to shut of the screen while charging, but I wanted to turn it back on and can't find where it is? Also before the update I could have sworn there was an option on the screen timeout to set it to never. Now I don't have that option.

If an app could be developed that maintains this voltage, the screen could be at a constant voltage, and not dim, ever.Has anyone heard of an app like this, and, if not, is there anyone interested in developing this?I am sure a lot of people (like myself) would be willing to donate for a program like this.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is a new issue I am having; I've had my Eris since December and had no problems with it. My phone is no longer going to sleep itself. I set the 'Screen Time Out' all the way down to 15 seconds but if I don't hit the end button to manually put it to sleep, it would never sleep. This is really frustrating because since I was used to not having to do that, I'll put it in my pocket without hitting the end button and end up clicking a lot of stuff with my bottom.What is this problem? I've not downloaded any applications as of the last month and I use a task killer every time I put the phone down.

If i call a number that requires me to enter numbers it seems like it takes a good 3 or 4 seconds for the screen to turn back on. I know it doesnt seem like a lot but some of these calls if you dont enter the number right away they start asking questions over then i do hit a number and its the wrong one so its a pain in the a$$. View 13 Replies View RelatedThis is a problem I've noticed lately that is just killing my battery life. My Incredible never dims on its own. If I press the power button the screen will shut off but lets say I get a text and then I hit the power button, the screen comes on. I respond to the text and then hit home and put my phone down on the desk. The screen will stay on indefinitely. Not charging, completely unplugged the screen will just stay on. Has anyone run accross this and does anyone have any ideas on how to get it to time out again?

I have a samsung vibrant. Every time i plug it in its charger, the lock screen will not lock amd if m doing something, the sensitivity of the screen will be thrown of. It doesn't do that if i plug,it,in a computer usb, it doesn't,do that and charges normally. Is that a wide spread issue.

I am plan B and AVG security installed, both don't always work, I have pattern lock on the phone but even in pattern lock mode when i press and hold power button the phone gives me option to shutdown.
If someone steals my phone they will be able to shut it off without unlocking it since holding down power button still works. So is there a way to lock the power button from shutting off phone when the phone is in pattern unlock mode?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOver the past two days I've had a recurring problem with my Moment - the screen no longer shuts off when I press the Off or End Call button. This is a pain because buttons end up being pressed when I slip the phone in to my pocket. I'm running the official 2.1 update and have been since the week after it came out, and I haven't had this problem before. I can't seem to figure it out. The button still works to turn the screen on, and will still turn of the screen if it's at the lock screen, but at the home screen or in an app, nothing happens when pressing the button. This was a little awkward today when the body heat through my shorts opened up my Alarm Clock app and started playing the various alarm clock ringtones!

Actually its with my wife's phone, we both have Moments, mine works great but hers frequently (not all the time) doesn't shut off during phone calls. At first I thought she was just holding it strange but I have seen it for myself and its quite frustrating. The biggest issue is that its an intermittent problem so of course it never happens when at the Sprint store asking about replacing the phone. I did the recent update to the phone and it still does it. Any way to fix this short of getting a new one?

I mean, REALLY! Yes, I own up to being a newbie Android user, and what I don't know could fill the Library of Congress. Still, this is common sense we're talking about here. I've done some industrial app development and Enter/Exit, On/Off are basic pieces of logic in the main loop of an program in any language.
The only reason that we phone users need task killer apps is because you developers insist on creating apps that don't know when the f**k to turn themselves off.
And, it seems to me like you, the app developers, are one of the main reason why these phones have such crappy battery life. I mean, my Samsung Instinct, as bad as it was, got 18 to 24 hours of life off of one charge. With the Hero, I'm lucky if I can get 10 hours, and that's even with configuring my email download to only three times per day!
This is not hard, people. You code the app to stay off until, I, the user, manually turn it on. AND, you also code it to turn off when I, the user, hit the back button.
Yes, I understand that there are certain apps that it is advantageous to keep running in the background. So, fine, make it so those keep running. BUT, there is no possible reason for apps like Flashlight, or BBC News, or Camera, or SprintTV to have to run all the time in the background!
I am so tempted to just trash the lot of you. If I did, maybe I might not have as much functionality, but my teenager would be able to reach me late in the day because my phone battery would still have juice.
Is there a way to have a phone lock on the Desire, in the way it is used on "normal" phones? What I mean is that I need a phone lock for security reasons - however it is a pain to use it every time I turn the screen on. Is there a way to have it work only when you turn the phone on? Right now if yu don't have a phone/screen lock security set if someone steals your phone they take out the sim card and use the phone normally ... if you do have it, then you must use the password every time you want to use the phone (I hate it). I know the best thing is to have a secured access but I was just wandering if it was possible to do seomething different?

I will hit the unlock button on the top and start to do my pattern, and all the sudden, it says that i lifted my finger... and takes two tries out....
I will hit the unlock button and start my pattern and the screen will shut off like there is no activity and i will have to hit the unlock button again, and start over.
Oh and how about this, tried both handcent and stock messaging app, i regularly have periods of long delay from both receiving and sending text messages, i will be sending one text and get a text sending overload message also.... then i will have periods of sending and receiving the exact same text 10-15 times in a row.... this happens all of the time and its extremely annoying....
LOCK screen aprears at the main screen, after boot the emulator boot up. I want to disable the locking at main screen, So that while next time i boot up my emulator not LOCK screen apears. Can any body suggest me best solution for this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Evo that hangs up on everyone that calls me.I keep the phone in my pocket and, in trying to pull it out to answer a call, my leg slides the bar.I could keep the phone in my pocket upside down and then I would answer every call but that isn't much of an alternative.I am looking for something that overrides the Sense's lockscreen/answer screen.I tried both GoTo and WidgetLocker.Both are great programs but neither addresses the incoming call issue.

View 12 Replies View RelatedThis morning my alarm started unexpectedly at 6am. The lock screen turned into the snooze/stop screen. Dragging down didn't stop it it.. It came on every ten minutes for the next hour. My alarms were set to 9:45am and 8:30pm as usual. Even turning the phone off and on didn't stop the beeping. It was my 9:45am ringtone even. (The two are set differently)

With the old 1.6 software on my X10, the lack of an automatic screen lock when in an active call was mildly annoying, as not all areas of the screen were active. However, with the new 2.1, just about anywhere on the screen becomes active (especially when juggling two simultaneous calls). What are the chances that we'll see a 'lock screen' function for phone calls? Those of us who actually use the phone for phone calls whilst holding it would surely appreciate it. Other android devices have had this for years.
