New EVO attempting Internet sharing (use modem). When plug in USB to laptop not getting any notification or dialog box (ex. Internet Sharing). Also tried to start to import music...same scenario USB plug in does not show Disk Drive etc.

i'm using a UK O2 samsung galaxy and i'm trying to upgrade the firmware on it (hopefully to improve battery life).However when i plug the phone into my laptop the NPS software doesn't recognise that there is a phone attached and instead tells me i have 2 mass storage devices connected (an F and an E drive).Does anyone know why this might be? and more importantly how to fix it so i can do the upgrade?

View 12 Replies View Relatedyesterday, I spent several hours trying to figure out how to capture the HEADSET_PLUG intent with a BroadcastReceiver. The manifest defines the <receiver>, with its intent-filter set to <action android:name="android.intent.action.HEADSET_PLUG" />.
The receiver is working correctly (I verified that by changing the intent filter to capture things like SMS_RECEIVED including the proper permissions and the receiver fired as expected on receiving an SMS), but when listening for HEADSET_PLUG, it never fires. Debugging the whole thing is a bit complicated, as the emulator doesn't seem to support headsets and I have to disconnect my target device (a HTC Dream) from USB in order to attach a headset (so there's no logfile viewing). Are there any special permissions required for applications to capture the HEADSET_PLUG intent (and if so, which? I've tried several, to no avail)?
Maybe the Dream doesn't fire such an intent at all (that'd be bad luck for me), but I guess that it must be an issue related to application permissions. The documentation says extremely little (well, actually: nothing) about the single permissions needed to perform all the actions described in the API docs, so this is absolutely something to be improved.
What I want to do: Upon detecting a headset, I want to re-route the ringtones from the speakers to the headset, so as not to annoy people in my vicinity by a harsh ringing sound (I'm used to this behaviour from my old phone) - by default, the speaker just keeps on ringing, no matter whether a headset is attached or not. This part is already working, but now I need to know how to detect headset attachment/ detachment events.
I have a simple question, except the default player, is there any open source media player we can modify or is there anyway we can add some feature to the media player in android platform? Like we add a plug-in into the MS media player?

In almost every case, there is too much tension on the cord when plugged in to keep it standing on the kickstand. Also, in the car, a right-angled charger would be useful for me. I found a right-angle auxiliary input for the stereo, and that helps some. Previously, I had one big plug coming straight out of the bottom, and another coming straight out of the top.

I've got an acclaim and was wondering if I could plug a webcam into the mini usb and have it work for Skype? I know I could do an app and use the camera on the phone so they could see me (or rather the kids...I became irrelevant to the parents once the grandkids came along), but then the kids couldn't see THEM on the screen since the camera is on the back.

I'm trying to create application fixing problem with audio volume in headset/handset(I cannot find such application in the market).There is ACTION_HEADSET_PLUG intent,but I cannot register it in manifest. Registering it using registerReceiver does not make sense becouse app should be run always when headset is plugged/unplugged, app will also have no GUI/Activity.

I used to have it on 1.6 and linked some contact with FB from the timescape app. Also I cannot modify those contact that already have the link to FB. In the contact when I click edit I get this message "Timescape plug in manager contact information is not editable on this device". Does anybody have a solution for this or have the same message in the contacts? I tried to restore the software from scratch but it did not solve the problem.

I had an issue with picking up GPS at home with using cell tower triangulation and leaving GPS off. So, I removed that portion.
I have no issues with Locale going into the situation, but it never comes out. I have to manually close Locale and sometimes forget when I first wake up, so I will miss text messages and emails.
Anyone else had an issue with powering up? I now have to push all of my power cords down to get a charge now. If I just plug it into the phone, no charge. It's until I jiggle the cord, is when I get a charge.
Anyone else had this issue? I might take it back in for a new one soon.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an ATT SGS3 and today I flashed 4.2. Everything is cool, but due to multiple flashes over the past few days, I had several (0) folders on my SD card. I know this is due to 4.2 having the option to have multiple users. Since I had like 6 (0) folders, I moved my main folder back to the newest folder. The problem? While I can see the folder in Root Explorer and CWM, it does not show up when I plug it into the computer via USB. I only see one folder and nothing else.
How can I fix it so I can see this folder when plugged into the computer? The way it is now, my personal ringtones, music and everything else are not being found as they are not being seen.
Even though I choose "Charge Only" when i plug the phone in, it still treats it like if I had chosen "Disk Drive". I'm not able to access my SD card when i want to do things with the phone.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI had Eclipse running with the Android plug-in and I decided to add the Emacs plug-in. I downloaded and it worked. Then I decided to go back to the Eclipse key bindings and the Android plug-in disappeared. I could not update it, because Eclipse said it was installed, but it was not showing up in the menu.
I had to re download Eclipse, and reinstall the plug-in.
Why don't different plug-ins cooperate? I had the same issue when I tried to download the Blackberry plug-in alongside the Android plug-in (in different workspaces) and that also did not work. The only solution is to have two separate Eclipse each with a different plug-in.
I have in my car a hands-free kit for a Qtek 9100 which has work fine for years with the Qtek. I bought a mini to micro USB adapter so that I could use the kit with the new Desire HD, but when I plug the new phone to the micro USB adapter the Desire HD just shuts down and I have to remove and replace the battery to get it working again.
