Just of the fone to 3 customer services and they told me they have pulled the plug on 2.2 froyo on 3 network, they said it was htc who done this and there is no plans to get it to the desire on 3 anyone here this I just think they don't know what they are talking about?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI don't have a SIM inserted. I have firmware "2.1-update1". If I connect to WiFi and go to system software updates it says "there are no updates available for your phone". Do I actually need to be connected to a network to update to froyo? I'm in Australia.

I have in my car a hands-free kit for a Qtek 9100 which has work fine for years with the Qtek. I bought a mini to micro USB adapter so that I could use the kit with the new Desire HD, but when I plug the new phone to the micro USB adapter the Desire HD just shuts down and I have to remove and replace the battery to get it working again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedCan i use my ipod charger plug, with one of my many spare usb-mini usb cables i have for many gadgets (ie cameras/camcorders), to charge my desire? or is the ipod plug rated to push through a different numbers of amps/volts/currants/electrons/whatever to my desire, ultimately killing it? this will save me and probably a lot of other folk a few quids in buying spare chargers etc, as i am sure we've all got a spare mini-usb cable and an ipod lying around. i am talking about this part, or one of these for car charging.
View 5 Replies View Relatedyesterday, I spent several hours trying to figure out how to capture the HEADSET_PLUG intent with a BroadcastReceiver. The manifest defines the <receiver>, with its intent-filter set to <action android:name="android.intent.action.HEADSET_PLUG" />.
The receiver is working correctly (I verified that by changing the intent filter to capture things like SMS_RECEIVED including the proper permissions and the receiver fired as expected on receiving an SMS), but when listening for HEADSET_PLUG, it never fires. Debugging the whole thing is a bit complicated, as the emulator doesn't seem to support headsets and I have to disconnect my target device (a HTC Dream) from USB in order to attach a headset (so there's no logfile viewing). Are there any special permissions required for applications to capture the HEADSET_PLUG intent (and if so, which? I've tried several, to no avail)?
Maybe the Dream doesn't fire such an intent at all (that'd be bad luck for me), but I guess that it must be an issue related to application permissions. The documentation says extremely little (well, actually: nothing) about the single permissions needed to perform all the actions described in the API docs, so this is absolutely something to be improved.
What I want to do: Upon detecting a headset, I want to re-route the ringtones from the speakers to the headset, so as not to annoy people in my vicinity by a harsh ringing sound (I'm used to this behaviour from my old phone) - by default, the speaker just keeps on ringing, no matter whether a headset is attached or not. This part is already working, but now I need to know how to detect headset attachment/ detachment events.
I alternate between two wifi networks on my HTC Desire running Android 2.2 ( I think!)On one network I need to specify the network IP/subnet/Gateway and so on, on the other network I can use DHCP.Is there any way to tell Android that whenever I connect to one wifi network it should use the static IP and on the other it should get an IP automatically?I am forever going into advanced wifi settings and changing them back and forth. I'd love for my phone to remember the settings used on each wifi profile.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to find a way of quickly switching off/on the Mobile Network setting from the home screen. When searching Google there's loads of pages stating that it is an HTC Widget that can be added. I have checked all the widgets on the Desire HD and cannot seem to find it anywhere. I am using an unbranded handset.
The Desire HD manual even states "You can also add widgets that allow you to quickly switch on or off certain settings of your phone, such as Wi-Fi, Mobile Network...".
Does anyone else with an HD handset have this widget ?
I'm running nexbeast froyo and I havent been able to find any different color neural network live wallpapers to switch with the stock nexus colors. I tried doing a search for it and also tried the 2.1 bugless beast lwp's and have had no luck. Please help I want a green neural network lwp to match my nexbeast rom.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got an HTC Desire that was locked to Telus (Canadian Carrier). I have read that numerous people are using it on Rogers network. From the day I got it when I put my rogers sim card in (the right way) it said "No SIM card in phone" so I could not enter an unlock code. Thinking the SIM was defective went to Telus and tried one of their sim cards and it worked fine, then I went to Rogers thinking it was a problematic card. We tried 4 cards and none of them worked. I then went to Bell (another canadian carrier) and tried their sim card. It worked as well but said that the phone was locked. I purchased an unlock code from the internet which worked. Now the Bell sim card works as well becuase the phone is unlocked. I put my Rogers SIM back into it and it still sais "No SIM card in phone". I also tried a SIM from a european company and it did not work as well. This HTC Desire works on the same 3G 850/1900 GSM that Rogers uses.
View 7 Replies View Relatedhaving loads trouble trying to connect, on o2 network (but phone was intially vodaphone) when i purchased it got APN settings and all sweet , then htc sent update to my phone and since then no joy , went back to repair centre , recived it back yesterday and it's still the same argghhh.Htc say it's because it has been on vodaphone and this is causing the problem (even though it worked fine before they upgraded software!).

If anyone is interested, I will provide more info on how to install the patch and where to d/l it from.My desire is rooted but S-ON and odexed. It only works on rooted phones.I love this feature that only comes on DHD & DZ as part of the new sense 2.0 ui as standard.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have posed this question in some threads but as yet have made no progress.I am just curious as to why HTC appear to have left out the Bluetooth Voice Dialler function that can be provided by the Froyo 2.2 O/S. I believe this feature is present and enabled in some of the cooked roms and also in the Nexus one Vanilla 2.2 so why not here?If I have missed somthing simple or if anyone is aware why it is missing or how I can activate it that would be fantastic!

1. Will I need to unlock my phone before, during or after changing the Rom? I am not overly bothered by the orange stuff on my phone, but am worried about losing my WiFi connections!
2. Do I need a goldcard? Some instructions say yes, other no. None mention orange handsets specifically.
3. Which is the easiest & safest method to root my phone, if I want to put the Froyo Rom on it?
4. What if I want to change Roms - do I need to do the whole process again? I've seen something about a Rom manager, but where do you get it and how does it work?
5. Which Rom do I use? I've looked at some I'd the modacco forum ROMs, but most don't actually say what you do or don't get with them.
6. What's that difference between a2sd and a2sd+? Does it come as part of the ROM or so I news to get it separately?
Can someone help with how to unlock HTC Desire on 3 network?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHave been used to Nokias in the past, both personally and for work, so the DHD is my first non-Nokia phone for ages. With the E71 I had, whenever I wanted to go on-line it asked me which access point I wanted to use. This meant that if I was out and about I'd use the 3G network but if I was at home I'd choose wifi. With the DHD it doesn't ask and appears to me to want you to choose which network to use purely by 'default'. That is, if it's switched on then it'll use it.Have I missed something in the manual? Maybe I've misunderstood how the networking is prioritized?

View 1 Replies View RelatedBit random but I just noticed that my phone was displaying the icons for both 3g and wi-fi, rather than just wi-fi. Normally when there is a wi-fi signal the phone shuts down 3g.However, I could not connect to anything. I could turn off wi-fi and connect via 3g or turn of 3g and connect via wi-fi, but when both were on it seemed like both were trying to connect and getting confused.A reboot solved the issue. did I do something silly?

I bought my HTC Desire from T-Mobile Montenegro with prepaid SIM. After i leave the Montenegro i change to my Orange card, and get the "SIM network unlock PIN" message. I purchased the unlock code from globalunlock.com - Global Unlock - The Official Mobile Phone Unlocking Site. After i inserted the code i get the "Invalid Password" message. (By the way the company have no support, no refund, nothing, don't buy from them) I was wonder if there will be some suggestions how to solve this problem?
I have a Telus Desire which I have debranded (running Froyo) and unlocked. I have a Rogers sim card. I have been in Tokyo twice now and I am unable to find a network here. Even when I search for one I am unable to find it. Is my problem because of the rom I have used? I know there are Desires sold in Japan and they work but I am at a loss.

This has direct effect on disabling 3g as it no longer flashes in the task bar, but can someone explain the difference between turning off the APN or turning off the whole 'mobile network' (holding the power button and selecting mobile network off)Also, do both ways save the same battery?

Went on holiday but before I went I took a travel bundle of 10 MB, I know I would probably use more than this but only by a a few MB whislt out of wi fi zones... got back to UK and checked my bill and �537.00 is the data charge.. considering 95% of my web and email activity was via a wi fi network I am rather shocked.
I have heard that the HTC Desire still uses the 3g or data network even if you are in a wi fi zone, can anyone confirm this as I am having a bust up with Orange as it does not state anywhere that the data connection is still running when you are in a wi fi zone... bit pointless having wi fi or doing stuff in a wi fi zone if you are still being charged data.. why would you have wi fi on if you were going to be charged.
I uploaded youtube clips, facebook, listened to the radio all through what I thought was my FREE wi fi network... every other phone I have ever had automatically cut the data connection when you were in a wi fi zone... it seems that the desire does not do this....

I live in the uk and stuck between the HTC desire and Nexus One Froyo. From what I have read and learned, they are essentially the same phone, except nexus one receives the updates the quickest as it is the 'google experience' phone.
Right now im leaning more towards the nexus as it seems the froyo really does give the phone a stronger advantage. JIT, better interface etc... Am not that bothered about SenseUI and heard that froyo does make senseUI unnecessary in some areas. Despite rumors about the desire updating to froyo, majority of people are saying that it will be likely be autumn before the desire gets an update. So now that the froyo is picking up the interface and other substantial areas, what now gives the desire the edge over nexus?
Bought myself a Desire about a month ago from Play.com and stuck in a o2 payg sim i already had, really love it and everything is working great.I heard Froyo had been released ota so i decided to use the "check now" option however it claims that my phone is up to date. I've checked the softare information and its def 2.1-update 1, as far as i can tell the phone is definitely unbranded and there are no custom scenes or wallpapers.I even took the sim out and tried doing a check it still says there is no new updates. I'm a resident of the UK but as far as i can tell that shouldn't make a difference.I'm not in too much of a rush as its new software but i was just a little worried something was wrong. Anyone got any suggestions?
