Anyone who owns a SGS have any battery life reports?
I'd like to know the opinions various Galaxy S users have about this phone's battery life and their usage profile. I'd appreciate if you can provide me the following information:
1/ How long does the battery charge last between charges?
2/ What is your approximate phone usage profile during a day?
(Eg. 2hrs of browsing over wifi, 1 hour of browsing over 3G, 1 hour of video playback, 2 hours of audio playback/streaming while browsing etc.)
3/ Other useful information (Eg. signal conditions - poor 2G/3G coverage around my office)
I am really getting sick of the short battery on my Incredible. As much as I hate the physical buttons on the X,I'm still contemplating moving to the X from the Dinc.I still have about 10 days to decide and I was hoping you guys might be willing to share your use of the phone and how long it is lasting. Yesterday I surfed for about an hour, Pandora for an hour, 20 minutes of phone calls, 5-10 text messages and emails (short ones), and about a dozen photos taken at the lowest res the camera offers (keep 'em small).I played Jewels about an hour total. No GPS, No Wifi for the day.I don't do twitter, facebook, etc. and don't have any apps running that are drains like live wallpapers and other "monitoring" software.I started at about 7:30 and the phone shut off around 6:40 or so -- about 11 hours. This is with the "bump charge" so I started with a completely full battery.

Could someone with good battery life on a Galaxy S post their batterstats.bin file?
I'd like to try this fix and not sure if the batterystats file would work from the other thread since its a different phone.
However, this simply has not been my experience at all, I get a couple of days out of my SGS whereas some others report only getting a day.
I just thought it would be interesting for us to post in here how much battery life we are getting for the amount of use we put the phone to.
There must be some sort of pattern.
My usage:
anywhere between 10 - 30 texts per day.
Several emails - sending and recieving.
a few phonecalls.
30 Minutes of gaming.
Twitter.
Live wallpaper running.
BBC News widget running and Weatherbug widget running.
I also listen to some music but this varies day by day.
3G and HSPDA are left on constantly as is my wireless.
GPS is turned off.
Thats my usage and i get at least a day and a half. Would be interesting to compare...
I have had my Samsung Galaxy S phone (Samsung Fascinate to be specific) for a full year now, and it wasn't until just recently that i have been having battery life problems. I could get a full days worth and more in the past, but now, my battery has been acting odd. I would usually charge it while I was sleeping, then wake up and go through my day just fine. But now, the minute i take it off the charger, it goes straight to being only half charged, and this is after 5 or 6 hours of charging.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo when push email is enabled (for my exchange work email only) my battery drains 10% every hour, even if i don't touch the phone it drains 10% Is this normal?
Looking at my screen, the 3G icon in the notification bar is constanlty changing between a 3G and H and the arrows are lighting up all the time. I don't receive to many emails (between 1 and 5 an hour)
I have recently flashed to JM5 and have only had that problem since comming to0 JM5. I have tried to different tricks for restting the battery stats and calabrating the battery but nothing really works.
My sgs recently had a HUGE drop in battery life.Last night it was at 75% when I slept and this morning it was at 17%
And over the period of less than 1 hour is at 10% currently. Code...
I installed the galaxo rom on my I7500L the other day and immediately encountered a problem. My battery died in less then 7 hours with the screen off. I read into the no sleep problem (and being able to tell I have it by not being prompted by lock screen) and do not believe I have that problem. I am running it pretty much bare bones, with adw launcher, advanced task killer, and handcent. I did have the task killer set to auto task kill and aggressive (turned it off completely now) that may have been the issue.
Although its particularly odd that every time I enter task kill the settings application is always open no matter if i kill it or not. Is there any common knowledge I didn't follow (heard of deleting launcher.apk cause galaxo constantly refreshes it) but haven't done so yet.
Allowing the screen to time out and using the end call button to bring it back on has resulted in the settings program not running in the task manager as it constantly has. scratch that, still doing it.
It's been 9 days since i bought my galaxy wonder. Its battery is too weird for 3 days.Because 3 days ago 2.5 hours passed until %98.Now once i unplug its charger, it downs to %84 in 2.5 hours
Why is it too unstable? I didn't calibrate. (If that means charging it 12 hours after it discharged for the first time, i didn't do it.May it be the reason?)
BTW, important note : All settings are off (Wi-fi,bluetooth,gps,syncronization) and screen brightness is about %30 or %35 i guess.I don't even use live wallpaper and only widget i use is battery widget.(A simple widget 100 kb)
Since installing Froyo, and also doing a factory reset, my battery life seems much worse.
Also when I check what has been using the battery there are not as many apps displayed, typically just 'Display' and 'Cell Standby' even though I have used the web browser, wifi and Angry Birds.
Maybe the battery needs recalibrating with the new firmware?
Ive got the xperia x10 which I love now the battery problems are sorted but I've another upgrade due and had a quick play with the galaxy s today. Seemed pretty good but before deciding whether I should take it whats peoples opinions on the battery life and the camera? The battery on all my android phones hasn't been great but as long as I can happily get a day/day and half out of it with reasonable use i.e. bit of music, lot of texts, a little web and a few calls then id be happy with it. Also I notice the camera doesn't have a flash, what are the pics like people have been taking? I really liked the look and feel of phone but a little worried the amoled screen would drain the battery too much.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am getting a Galaxy S end of this week or early next week. Wondering how good it will be for VOIP. I am thinking of using either Skype, Fring or Nimbuzz in the background 24x7, connected mostly over 3G but sometimes (at home and at work) over Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi is going to drain the battery faster, then I can have it on 3G all the time. I'm more than happy if I can get one day out of it. What do you guys think? Has anyone tried it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMaybe quite a lot of SGSers are dying to know how the Froyo update progresses across the globe. I know about Sweden and Norway so far. Please let us know if the update appears in KIES in your country. It would be a nice extra if you'd publish your product code too.

I am using taskiller to kill any not needed background apps and normally have over 120mb left in RAM. Any tips on what I can do to fix this? I'm trying to hold off rooting until I get the t-mobile update. Also, does the phone normally give inaccurate battery readings to the widgets? Because I am literally looking at the phone and watching the percentage go up... up 6 percent in the last hour. lol anyone else getting this?

I just got a new Samsung Galaxy S phone from a local AT&T store in the US. I took the phone home the first day and spent a few hours scrolling thru the menus and getting familiar with the phone. I did a software update on the phone it has ver 2.1. I also went to a few websites to test the browser. I made about 3 calls and talked for about an hour. I had the phone turned on the entire time, I was not in standby mode.
After about 2 hours - the back of the phone where the battery is, started getting hot.
It didn't burn my hand but it was like holding a very hot cup of coffee in your hand. Very uncomfortable. Has anyone else had this problem with a battery getting hot?
Why is the battery overheating? I'm afraid to use the phone now, it might burn up something in the phone or ruin a memory card or something else.
What's causing the battery top get really hot? How do you fix this problem?

View 2 Replies View RelatedRunning a Bell Galaxy-S with 2.1 and the OCLF. Recently when I lock my phone or it just goes to sleep (screen shuts off) I can't unlock it. The screen just stays blank and it requires me to pull the battery and replace to boot it back up. There doesn't appear to be any consistency with this error and I haven't installed any new apps in recent time that would have changed the phone around.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOk so I usually plug my phone in to charge over night next to my bed. However it gives me a notification sound, like a txt message, when the battery has charged. This is kinda annoying but cannot seem to find a way of turning it off. I know you are gonna suggest tuning the sound off but thats not what i want to do. So is it possible to just turn the battery charged notification off?
View 15 Replies View RelatedAre there third party battery covers for the Samsung Galaxy S? And will they work for the Vibrant since they look so similar? What I mean by battery cover is the piece of plastic you remove to get to the battery and sim card, maybe also called the backplate. Because all the accessories I see on eBay are just covers for the cover itself. In video reviews, the vibrant has two battery covers that are different. I was thinking of something along those lines so I can swap up battery covers if I get bored of one.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have been having some battery issues on my Captivate and can only seem to get through 12 or so hours with minimal use and it is quite bothersome. The main reason I bought the phone was because of its battery life and so far, I am disappointed. For instance, I charged my phone all night, woke up and made a less than one minute phone call, looked at my status and I was at 96%. As the day went on with minimal use, it seems to drain without me even touching it. As of now (13 hours later), my battery icon is blue and showing halfway full, but the battery status says 36% which does not add up to me. I also don't have a live wallpaper and have Advanced Task Manager that kills all apps as well as GPS and Wifi turned off. Any tips? Should I take it back and get a new one or see if I can get a new battery?

If I pick it up at all while it is charging, the cord falls out. I love this phone, but this may be a deal breaker. What are the chances these issues are just with the phone? Should I go to AT&T and get a new one?
