Sep 25, 2010
Was listening to Pandora thru my phone jack to my (yes my car still has) cassette adapter. When I arrived home, I unplugged so I could continue to listen on the way into the house...but no sound thru the external speaker.so I plugged back into the jack..still no sound unplugged and skipped to the next song...now it played.

I use some higher end balance armature earphones and also some regular traditional earphones.
Anyone else notice the sounds quality ... isn't exactly that great?
I hope its just me but the frequency range seem incomplete. The highs are missing and the low end is clipped out pretty early. The midrange is decent though.

So yea I'm a hardcore audiophile and any crackle/pop in my music really annoying. I have had the EVO since Friday, and everything I try (Slacker, Pandora, last.FM, whatever) cracks/pops when the audio is going through the 3.5MM jack to my car. I'm already on a wait list for replacement because I think it's faulty hardware. I've tried multiple cables and even HQ settings.
Coming from a Touch Pro 2 which had amazing sound quality through the 3.5mm jack, needless to say I'm less than happy with the EVO since I primarily stayed with Sprint for uncapped data. If I get a replacement and it still continued, looks like I may be wandering over to that new iPhony. I urge everyone with this issue to post here so they can resolve it or figure out whats going on.

I have noticed in all music apps (pandora, slacker, last.fm, mp3's) the sound on the low end is very overmodulated. It is to the point that if I am wearing headphones or using the Moment to play music in the car that the speakers are being pushed extremely hard. The low end is so cranked that no level of EQ on my sound system can get rid of the muffled sound on the low end.
It also almost sounds like my earbuds are going to blow even on low volume.
All other devices (IPod Touch, Touch Pro, Slacker portable, Hero) do not have this problem.
Is this normal for this phone and if so do you know of any apps where you can tweak the EQ of the media volume output?

To those that have gotten the incredible early (lucky bastards!), how is the sound quality and volume through the headphone jack? i currently have a moto droid and might switch to the incredible. one concern is the output through the headphone jack. the droid is very quiet through the headphone jack and before the 2.0.1 update had a terrible crackle on the left channel. does the incredible sound good through the headphone jack? any crackle at higher volumes? does it get loud? really loud?

I plugged my Moto Droid into my truck today and used it for navagation. Sounded great. Later after I unplugged it and tried to make a call on the phone there was no audio coming from the phone. I had to reboot the phone to get it back. I think I read somthing about this someplace. I kinda remember something about the switch sticking in the audio jack. I've only used this jack twice now and the phone is only a month or so old. Is this a known issue?

Can anyone please comment on the audio quality through the 3.5mm headphone jack on the Droid? I will be using Skullcandy Titans which are in-ear earphones with noise isolation. I am hoping it is at least as good as that through my iPod nano 4th gen. I know that isn't an amazing benchmark but I'll be satisfied if it sounds at least that good with high-quality audio stored on the SD card. Speaking of SD card, do they still pack in the 16GB MicroSD card with Droids these days?

Not sure if anyone has had this issue. I was listening to music through the headphones jack and when I unplugged it I get no sound at all. No sound in calls or anything. The only way for me to get sound now is via headphones jack, anyone know how to fix this?

There have been multiple threads of people saying they are experiencing sound popping when using the 3.5mm jack, most of them say its on Pandora others will say that it happens on all mp3's or a few mp3's that otherwise sound perfect when played on their computer. To test I want to see if its a defect in hardware or if it just another Droid Does problem. I always consistently experience sound popping with my Sony headphones while playing Home by Michael Buble. If you go to youtube and search "home buble" play the first search result in high quality and turn the media volume to maximum. Listen in about 45 seconds and let me know if you hear popping.

I almost lost a bunch of data so I decided to post this as a warning; I hope it helps.I had my phone plugged into my laptop (via USB). The USB storage was NOT turned on; I only wanted to charge it. In a hurry I just unplugged it an left (without doing the "remove external drive" first). The next day, everything was gone - pix, videos, music - everything. The apps that were installed on the SD card were still accessible, but an entire folder I had with back-up .apk files was gone. I plugged the phone into another laptop. The LOST.DIR had pretty much all the files and I was able to slowly recover them. (The larger ones were clearly .m4v. I renamed the others to .mp3/.jpg to see which were songs or pix, and I still had some small files - presumably .apk's.) Then the stupid VISTA wouldn't let me "remove external drive"; it kept saying it was still in use, although I had closed the windows explorer and all other windows.
I unplugged the phone anyway and this time the phone said that it didn't recognize the SD card and that it needed to be formatted. I wasn't happy but I hit "format". Nothing happened. I turned the phone off and back on... nothing! It wouldn't mount the card either. I turned off the phone, removed the card, turned it back on, turned it off again, put the card back in and turned it on.Everything was back to normal.

Anyone else experience this? Is there any way to get the phone to keep charging after it gives that "battery is full message"?

It seems like every morning when I unplug my phone LauncherPro seems to not respond and force close. Are there certain memory settings I should be using to prevent this? Also, when LPP DOES force close, there's no way to get out of it. If I click "Force close" instead of "wait", it will just reload my default homescreen, but then force close again. It's an endless loop!

I like to use my phone as my MP3 player and have an AUX port on my car stereo that I use. On my old phone if I plug headphones or 3.5cable into the jack the phone thinks it has a Mic and disables the one on the phone. So if I get a call while in the car listening to music I can answer the phone and hear the caller through my car stereo but they cannot hear me. Am I going to need a special cable with mic to use in my car?
I don't have my Incredible yet but want to make sure I have all the cables and gadgets before it gets here in a couple weeks. I do a lot of car traveling for business and need to make calls and listen to music.

Please correct that by constructing a fixation for the USB-port on boardside, caused by the leverage-forces when plugging in or unplugging the charging-cable, so that it cannot break at the solder spots so easily any more. I think one or two gills, pressing from above onto the USB-Port, constructed into the case, would be enough to solve the problem. So the leverage-forces wouldn´t take effekt to the solder-spots of the USB-Port, but to the (new constructed) gills and the case of the X10.

The charger cable is loose in my phone. It's not really a problem unless I'm messing with it while it's charging but it is annoying when it drops out of the phone. No way am I going to exchange it because of this but curious if it's common.

Quick question that probably has a simple answer..
When I hook up this phone via the audio jack it repeatedly asks for voice commands instead of just going into playing some music.. anyone know of any setting to maybe disable this or some way to correct it?

I may be taking my Evo back to Best Buy already. I have tried a couple of different 3.5mm plugs and they are all loose in my phones jack. If I move the phone around it sometimes loses connection. These plugs were the same one's that worked fine with my Hero. Anyone else having this problem?

How can I increase EVO 3.5mm jack output beyond stock settings ?
Is there a practical method that won't give up sound Q ?
Pandora Radio doesn't have enough vol. in noisy settings.
Just ordered one of these to test ear bud amp. "Fiio E3 Headphone Amp" but it's more of a hassle to get the results. I was hoping android app might offer fix.

Full confession, I'm a SandTrooper and member of the 501st. So my needs might seem a bit strange, to casual users.I own an HTC EVO and just purchased a BlueAnt Q1 blue-tooth headset, I would like to pass the input coming from the headset out of my EVO via the 3.5mm to my voice amp (they give us that neat stormtrooper sound.)Is this possible? Does anyone know if an app already exists?

Make sure to push your headphone plug ALL the way into the jack of your fascinate! some of us thought we had defective headphone inputs on our fascinates but we realized that there is a considerable amount resistance making pushing the plug all the way in just a bit tough. Hope this helps! and dont be so quick to run back to your nearest cell phone dealer.

Desire tell me if it works ok with headphones that didn't come with the device? After reading the thread about music skipping with third party headphones plugged in, I did a little bit of research and discovered that this problem seems to be linked to devices with a recessed headphone jack, like the Droid Eris, iPhone, Nexus One, etc. They tend to only play nice with the supplied headphones, and certain other brands. Turns out the iPhone is actually pretty infamous for it. I have pre-ordered the Desire, but I am considering switching to the Legend, as this has a flat/normal headphone jack, and as I really hate those in-ear headphones that are supplied, I'm going to want to use something other than the supplied HTC ones.

Phone is a Bird v 1277 twin SIM with stock android ICS as a base
The phone is about a month old and the headphones have stopped being recognized after about two weeks, I've tried about 4 different sets of headphones and all work fine, with headsets (3 different ones) you can hear but not use the mic. The phone doesn't recognise they are plugged in so the FM radio won't work, and the speaker won't turn off.
I've tried the various threads and google searches so have checked the socket for thoroughly for dust etc. (torch & tweezers) but nothing.
The fact they work but don't aren't recognised makes me think it's a software issue such as an app I've installed that doesn't work well with ICS I'd like to avoid a reset & reconfiguring everything especially if it's not certain to work.
