I'm leaving for Tokyo tomorrow and ill be there for 2 weeks. My question is, how can I use my wifi, Internet, camera etc... without using my phone signal? Basically I don't want to accidentally make or receive a call or text, BUT be able to use everything else... I wonder if fring will work..

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy droid x signal pretty much always between -92dBm and -87dBm with 1-3 3g bars. My former droid eris would get -92dBm with 1 bar and also drain incredibly fast.
On the droid x, if I go into google maps, the circle of the cell tower appears and the place I live at is half way within the edge of the circle and the other half is outside of the circle. I always seem to be connected to this tower. Bad luck I guess that I'm on the outskirts of the circle.
Does anyone know how cell towers are distributed? Do they overlap sometimes?
I run pandora with the screen off for a half hour with the screen off and my battery is down to 70%. I have about 15% screen brightness and battery saving mode on.
yesterday, I was on meebo for an hour and 45 minutes and it was down to 60% from a full charge.
Right basically you can find the UK T mobile internet settings on the T mobile website. On the Speed Test app, the highest speeds I get are 1.8m/bs downloads and around 500kpbs upload. However, those were at off peak times at night etc (probably when nobody is using the net).Generally I get anything from 0.3 m/bs to 0.9 m/bs though. Lately I've been experiencing some inconsistent internet speeds and reconnection attempts so for I've gone back to the default settings. Tbh though I'm not sure if it makes much difference.

I am working on a capstone project for school, what i need is to be able to take WiFi scans (no need to connect, only scan available network BSSID and signal Levels) quickly.
Currently, the Android API takes up to 5 seconds for a scan. Is there something i can do to improve my scan rate?
I've been looking for a way to increase wifi power on Mediatek phones (that are well known for having poor wifi reception).
I found two files:
- iwmulticall
- iwconfig
Those two are unable to modify tx-power on wlan0. (iwconfig wlan0 txpower 32)

View 12 Replies View RelatedInteresting issue. I recently set up a repeater in my house to boost my router signal. I assigned the same ssid and wep key as my router to the repeater. Since it's been connected I can't connect to the internet from my LG Optimus S while wi-fi is on--it says page can't be displayed. I'm definitely connected to my home network. When I disable wi-fi I connect easily with 3g. Did I configure the repeater incorrectly, or is it an issue with the phone settings.

I am using the Galaxy grand I9082 Duos. I have a simple problem in WIFI signal strength, on this device signal strength showing very weak for a distance of 3 to 4 meets away from the wifi router in the next room. But Laptop shows good strength at same point.
If I take my mobile close to router shows very good strength.

Apps like life360 location tracking apps, remote control apps like androidlost, which uses push messages and also polling services works intermittently. But strangely messaging apps like viber works continuously on 2g or wifi without any problems.
