May 6, 2010I sent some ringtones to the phone via txt msg and cant find them now. I got a couple ringtone apps from the store but can't save anything.

HTC Droid Eris :: Custom Ringtones / Text Sounds?
Nov 15, 2009Just making the move to the Eris after using the iPhone for two years. I've taken great joy from making custom ringtones and "new text message" sounds in iTunes etc.Will I still be able to do this with the Eris? If so, how?

Nov 29, 2010How would one go about doing this with a Droid 2? I'm trying to add them so I can set ringtones for individual contacts, so when they call, I know who is calling me. I have tones already picked out and saved to my Gmail account. I thought I would be able to set them from there, but it turns out that's not possible. I used to be able to do this on my LG Chocolate.I had sent the tones I wanted using a service called Mobile17.

May 27, 2010Is anyone else having trouble with custom ringtones being lost anytime the phone reboots. I keep creating them from mp3's using the stock ringtone trimmer (which is an AWESOME feature BTW) and every time I reboot the phone, they get lost and go back to the standard ringtone. I've searched here and other places a few times and haven't found any answers.

Nov 11, 2010I have Nonsensikal ROM installed on this Eris and occasionally make my own mp3 ringtones. But they never show up in the default list of available ringtones. Is this by Eris design?I know how to add a custom ringtone but was just curious as to why I cant include it in the default listing area rather than having to go to my music gallery.

Jun 6, 2010I just got this phone on Thursday night. I like it so far but one thing about it is annoying me. It doesn't seem like I can make different sounds for all of my contacts for text messages. I can take music on my phone and assign it as different ringtones for each of my contacts but I don't seem to see any option for text alerts. Am I missing something? I already know how to add the music to the notifications folder I just can't do anything but use one as a default. I was able to do this with my BlackBerry Storm without any problem. Is there an app for that? If not I wonder when Froyo is available for the Incredible if it will be possible?

I had a dumbphone back in the day that could do that, but my current lg versa doesn't and I have always wanted it. May 5, 2010Is there a way to set a custom ringtone for text messages? I see in the music app to set a song as a ringtone but it doesn't let me set it as a text tone. I also made a song a ringtone but it was not available to the text app. Someone mentioned Handscent but I was hoping to use the stock app. The Droids stock app apparently does allow music for ringtones as I just confirmed from my brother in law.

Sep 24, 2010My "New Every 2" comes up on 10/6 and I'll be ordering an LG Ally for myself and my wife. if Verizon has blocked the ability to create custom ringtones and not force you to use their app? With my old RAZR I had to "hack" the registry to get it to work. With my current LG enV2 I had to use a free 3rd-party app (the name escapes me at the moment) in order to add files to the Ringtones folder. I seriosuly doubt that app supports Android phones.

Sep 26, 2010I have some mp3s that I have used for ringtones on past phones (KRazr, Blackberry), and from what I've found, to add them to my Droid 2, I put them in the media/audio/ringtones folder on my SD card. I've done that, but they don't show up in my list. I've also tried restarting the phone (aks the Microsoft approach), but they're still not available. Is there somewhere else I'm supposed to put the files?

Sep 26, 2010I recently upgraded to JH7, and realized that I can no longer use my own specific audio files as ringtones anymore...its only letting me use the stock ringtones. When I go to Settings > Sound and Display > Voice call ringtone , the only ringtones I can choose from are the ones that came with the phone. It's the only thing that pops up. Theres nothing for me to click anymore that lets me search my android system for audio files.

Mar 26, 2010I recently set a custom notification ringtone to alert me when I receive a new text message. The ringtone sits in my SD card under the folder "Notifications". Sometimes, I will get a text and my phone will vibrate and pulse light, but the notification ringtone will not be heard. When this happens, I go to Menu>Settings>Sound & display>Notification ringtone and then reselect my ringtone. What will happen on most occasions is as soon as I tap the ringtone I want to set, it will not sample the sound file and the menu will freeze and force close. What happens after this usually involves some cursing and a reboot. Why is my phone forgetting my notification ringtone selection? Why does it force close like that and how can I prevent this? If it makes any difference in your diagnosis, I am rooted.

May 12, 2010I tried to assign custom ringtones for few people. I did go to People -> click contact name that I want to change -> under Information tap, click Ringtone -> change ringtone. But, it doesn't work. I have two cell phones so I did try. I thought that ringtone that I made was wrong, but I go to Setting -> Personalize -> change default ringtone for same MP3 file. it works!
