HTC Incredible :: Battery Drains By Itself Without Use Overnight?

May 25, 2010

This has happened about 2-3 times now since the phone was released. The phone is fully charged before I go to bed and in the morning it's dead since the phone turned off by itself. Also it might explain why during the day, even without use for 2-3 hours it drains for no reason down to ~25%?So weird, anyone else have this problem? I don't have the GPS on.

Samsung Captivate :: No 3G After Being On Wifi Overnight

Jul 29, 2010

I seem to be the only one having this particular issue with the Captivate. With a new sim card i have 3G, take it home and put it on wifi overnight, and the next day i cannot get 3G. have done reboot, soft reset, master reset, toggle flight mode off/on. The only thing that gets 3G back is another sim card. I have gone through 2 phones and 4 sim cards with this. Samsung support is scratching their heads, any ideas from the android community?

HTC Wildfire :: What's Causing Battery To Run Down Overnight?

Nov 4, 2010

Ive just got a new Wildfire and Im having some issues with the battery. The most concerning thing is that it seems to be running down quicker overnight, while Im asleep and the phone is idle with the screen locked. When I went to sleep last night it was showing at about 50%. However it woke me up at 5am this morning telling me to connect the charger the second time this has happened in 3 days. I already have wireless, bluetooth and 3G switched off (I only switch these on when I want to use them), background data switched off and the screen brightness set at low. When I checked the applications that were running this morning, there was nothing that shouldn't have been there. Anyone got any idea what could be causing the battery to run down so quickly overnight when the phones not being used?

Motorola Milestone :: Overnight Charging Battery Drain

Aug 26, 2010

Motorola Milestone user here. I posted this yesterday in the appropriate section, but I figured this issue might apply to other phones as well. Sorry for the lenght but I thought I'd cover all bases.Anyway here's what happens when I charge my phone overnight. Let's say my battery is at 80%:

1. Turn off Wifi

2. All tasks killed except for Alarm Clock. Sometimes I run the Music Player but it doesn't make a difference with the battery drain issue whether I use it or not.

3. Background data is not enabled

4. The "Stay Awake" (Screen will never sleep while charging) option in the "Applications" menu is NOT CHECKED

5. Auto-brightness is not selected, and brightness is set at the lowest level.

6. Data Roaming (connect to data services when roaming) is not selected

7. Bluetooth not on

8. Charge the phone - I see the animated lightning bolt icon

9. Press the "sleep" button for the screen, or, allow it to naturally go dark after 30s

Motorola Droid X :: Safe To Charge Using Mini Usb Charge Source?

Jul 19, 2010

This has been an issue that's been bugging me the last few days now. The stock wall charger that came with my Droid X is the 5PN5504A, which has an output rating of 5.1V, 850mA. My understanding is that the mini-USB interface is an industry standard for power delivery to portable devices, which I take to mean that any charge source should work (wall charger, desktop PC, laptop) as long it has uses an USB interface. So any USB-->miniUSB cable can be used to charge any mini-usb device, regardless of power source, right?

I already have several other mini-usb devices, such as bluetooth headsets, which all came with their own wall chargers. However, I checked these chargers, and they all have different outputs: 5V @ 200mA, 5V @ 150mA, 5V @ 550mA. Because the default Droid X cable was so short, I was tempted to use these other chargers. I plugged in the 5V@150mA charger to my Droid X, and found that the phone does not show it's charging (the lighting bolt isn't there, there's no animation on the battery indicator). So then I switched to the 5V@550mA charger, and it DOES charge....................

HTC EVO 4G :: Charge With Moments Cable - Doesn't Charge

Oct 5, 2010

Just got the EVO last Friday. It replaces a Samsung Moment that died a horrible death.

When I charge it with the cable that came with it, it charges fine. But if I charge it with the Moments cable, it doesn't charge. The battery icon is animated as if it's charging and Spare Parts reports that it's charging, but the battery level continues to fall as if it's not plugged in.

Anyone notice this? My EVO shoots up incredibly when plugged into a wall versus my computer. The EVO seems to inch up plugged into the PC, but the wall seems to give it an injection of red bull cocaine.

Android :: Mains Charge Vs USB Charge

Aug 24, 2009

I have found that charging my HTC Hero from the wall with the USB adapter charges faster than charging from the USB plugged into the pc. This may sound like common sense, but there's more to it... Some iPhone users have noticed that the charge from their phone when charged from the mains lasts longer than the charge from the PC via USB. Some sites claim that phone batteries can be 'overcharged' by charging from the mains, and that USB charging doesn't do this. I havn't had my phone long enough to test the 'overcharging' theory, but I was wondering if anyone had any information about these different methods of charging.

HTC EVO 4G :: Won't Charge Via USB

Jun 29, 2010

I have been trying to charge my Evo via USB to no avail lately. Whenever I plug in my Evo, I select Charge Only (or if I do nothing, it selects Charge Only automatically. My Evo then continues to charge for about 15 seconds before my screen lights up and it stops. I checked to make sure my computer wasn't automatically mounting the USB drive or anything like that. If I turn off my Evo it charges from the USB fine. If I charge it from the wall it charges fine. I have tried different USB ports and my USB hub. I've tried resetting the Evo and my PC several times but nothing does the trick. This wasn't an issue last night and the only thing that has changed is that I installed the new HTC update. Edit: If I select "use as disk drive" the phone charges fine. It seems that the "Just Charge" option is broken.

I just got my new phone (a G2), and I'm super excited. My dad, an electrical engineer, recommended that I plug it in and let it charge fully before first turning the phone on. He also says I should let it drain completely after the first charge, to calibrate the phone's power system. What do you guys do when you first get a phone? Do you let the battery calibrate? Or does the awesome new phone seduce you into turning it on before it's ready?

Android :: How Often To Charge

Jun 21, 2010

How often can you charge your phone? Can I charge overnight and then say on my ride to and from work throw it on the car charger? I had a full battery this morning, but I am going to have to charge on my way home or I most likely won't make it until bedtime to charge. I am worried about overcharging i guess, if that's possible. I just don't want to be on a dead phone at 6 or 7 at night.

Android :: Cant Charge In Car

Jul 24, 2010

My Motorola Cliq on 1.6(don't get me started on 2.1) does not seem to want to charge via a usb car charger. I am using the usb cord that came with the phone and have tried using Griffin's itrip auto universal fm transmitter and charger (5 V DC @ 1 amp) and a cheapy usb car charger that I am not even sure of the origins. My sister's iphone 3GS charges on both of these, so power doesn't seem like the culprit.

I had first tried the one of unkown origin a while back and the phone had the charge symbol on it when I first connected it, after getting to my destination I realized that my phone had not been charging and there was no longer a symbol. multiple reconnection attempts never produced the charging symbol again Gave this one to my sister once I saw that her iphone charges from it fine.

I just purchased the Griffin product for the fm transmittor mostly, but hoped that charger might have better luck, still nothing as well, once again tested the iphone, worked fine.

Though with both chargers my phone will beep and the screen will light up when plugged in, and will do the same when unplugged. Even though it seems to respond there is no charge symbol and under status it will still say discharging. While on plugged in through computer or through ac adapter the status will say usb and ac respectivly.

Tried factory reset and taking out the battery just to exhaust more options to no avail.

So does any one have any idea what might be going on that is preventing my phone from charging in the car? Are andriod phones pickier about car chargers then iphones? Is this a cliq problem?
