Anyone notice this? My EVO shoots up incredibly when plugged into a wall versus my computer. There was a difference too on my Hero but it wasn't so dramatically different that I would prefer wall to computer. The EVO seems to inch up plugged into the PC, but the wall seems to give it an injection of red bull cocaine.

Has anyone experienced this? I searched the forums and the common answer was that 3 hours was normal but it takes my phone around 8 hours to charge on both USB and wall charging.
I just got the fascinate a few days ago. Defective battery or handset? I called Verizon and they said that it can't be troubleshot.
I really like the phone but 8 hours is excessive.
This has been an issue that's been bugging me the last few days now. The stock wall charger that came with my Droid X is the 5PN5504A, which has an output rating of 5.1V, 850mA. My understanding is that the mini-USB interface is an industry standard for power delivery to portable devices, which I take to mean that any charge source should work (wall charger, desktop PC, laptop) as long it has uses an USB interface. So any USB-->miniUSB cable can be used to charge any mini-usb device, regardless of power source, right?
I already have several other mini-usb devices, such as bluetooth headsets, which all came with their own wall chargers. However, I checked these chargers, and they all have different outputs: 5V @ 200mA, 5V @ 150mA, 5V @ 550mA. Because the default Droid X cable was so short, I was tempted to use these other chargers. I plugged in the 5V@150mA charger to my Droid X, and found that the phone does not show it's charging (the lighting bolt isn't there, there's no animation on the battery indicator). So then I switched to the 5V@550mA charger, and it DOES charge....................
it works perfectly fine with main charge and usb charge and now it won't charge whatsoever no matter how i try. i did the factory reset on my x10. still it wont charge. btw when i turn off my x10 first, then connects it to the power. it would turn on my phone like others but just wont charge.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI should have rooted a couple months ago as I now cannot get my Charge to recognize a USB connection with any computer. Computer recognizes something is trying to connect but computer gives me a USB Device Not Recognized message. It charges the phone when connected to the computer but doesn't ask me how I want to use the phone (as a mass storage device or media player) any more. To make a long story short, I have tried everything - different USB cables, different USB ports, different computers, USB debug on and off, Ask on Connection and Mass Storage settings on and off. Have even gone thru several master resets of the phone and still will not recognize a computer connection.
Would love to root and hold on to this thing for at least a little longer, so my last thought is to ask if it's possible to root this device without a computer connection. From what I've read through on some forum threads it's possible with some phones, just want to know if using some of the methodology its possible.
Just got the EVO last Friday. It replaces a Samsung Moment that died a horrible death.
When I charge it with the cable that came with it, it charges fine. But if I charge it with the Moments cable, it doesn't charge. The battery icon is animated as if it's charging and Spare Parts reports that it's charging, but the battery level continues to fall as if it's not plugged in.
I rooted my Moto Droid the other day to 2.2. Now when I plug it into my computer, it doesn't seem to charge. Yesterday I plugged it into my notebook and work desktop and it was at 50%. Left it there for a while, came back and was still at 50%. Tried it while mounted and not mounted. Yet, I Plug it into CLA and Home dock all the time and charges fine.

I know its "slower charge" because the computer also allows data transfer and mounting of the sd card, but maybe theres a possible way to shut that off? Also, would a double USB port cord that are used for external hard drives improve charge time at all? Two normal sized USB coming from computer to the miniUSB port on hero.

This may sound like common sense, but there's more to it... Some iPhone users have noticed that the charge from their phone when charged from the mains lasts longer than the charge from the PC via USB. Some sites claim that phone batteries can be 'overcharged' by charging from the mains, and that USB charging doesn't do this. View 13 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to charge my Evo via USB to no avail lately. Whenever I plug in my Evo, I select Charge Only (or if I do nothing, it selects Charge Only automatically. My Evo then continues to charge for about 15 seconds before my screen lights up and it stops. I checked to make sure my computer wasn't automatically mounting the USB drive or anything like that. If I turn off my Evo it charges from the USB fine. If I charge it from the wall it charges fine. I have tried different USB ports and my USB hub. I've tried resetting the Evo and my PC several times but nothing does the trick. This wasn't an issue last night and the only thing that has changed is that I installed the new HTC update. Edit: If I select "use as disk drive" the phone charges fine. It seems that the "Just Charge" option is broken.

He also says I should let it drain completely after the first charge, to calibrate the phone's power system. What do you guys do when you first get a phone? Do you let the battery calibrate? View 21 Replies View RelatedMy Motorola Cliq on 1.6(don't get me started on 2.1) does not seem to want to charge via a usb car charger. I am using the usb cord that came with the phone and have tried using Griffin's itrip auto universal fm transmitter and charger (5 V DC @ 1 amp) and a cheapy usb car charger that I am not even sure of the origins. My sister's iphone 3GS charges on both of these, so power doesn't seem like the culprit.
I had first tried the one of unkown origin a while back and the phone had the charge symbol on it when I first connected it, after getting to my destination I realized that my phone had not been charging and there was no longer a symbol. multiple reconnection attempts never produced the charging symbol again Gave this one to my sister once I saw that her iphone charges from it fine.
I just purchased the Griffin product for the fm transmittor mostly, but hoped that charger might have better luck, still nothing as well, once again tested the iphone, worked fine.
Though with both chargers my phone will beep and the screen will light up when plugged in, and will do the same when unplugged. Even though it seems to respond there is no charge symbol and under status it will still say discharging. While on plugged in through computer or through ac adapter the status will say usb and ac respectivly.
Tried factory reset and taking out the battery just to exhaust more options to no avail.
So does any one have any idea what might be going on that is preventing my phone from charging in the car? Are andriod phones pickier about car chargers then iphones? Is this a cliq problem?

Well I put the EVO in the holder (Vertical or Straight Up) and the EVO stopped charging. When I took it out of the holder and laid it flat it started charging again.
