HTC EVO 4G : Internal Vs sdhc - which type is better for performance?

General :: Does Filling Up Internal Storage Decrease Performance?

May 14, 2013

Does filling a phone with only internal storage slow it down? Even if you don't fill it?

I'm asking because I put 10gb of music on my HTC One, and I was just curious as to whether it would effect it in any way.

General :: Changing FS Type For Internal And External SD On MTK6589

Jan 13, 2014

Trying to customize my new device (Runbo X6: MTK6589T, 2GB RAM, 32GB ROM, Android 4.2.1) .

1) Repartitioning

Actually, I successfully edited the partition table in EBR1 and EBR2 and the start addresses in the Scatter file and proofed it multipple times by recalculating, but after flashing, although I get a correct output in system settings and by dumping /proc/emmc, /proc/partitions and /proc/dumchar_info, when I try to push some apps, for ex., above the initial 680MB to /system/app or something similar I get a "disk is full" message. As I was able to find out only the /data and /fat partitions get physically updated by the new sizes, meanwhile the /system and /cache partitions remain physically on the initial state and get updated by the new sizes logical only. Although if after flashing I dump the system image by "cat /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 > /sdcard/system.img" I get an image with a size corresponding to the updated size of the partition.

Initial values:
EBR1
begin /system = 00 18 02 00 (real 00 02 18 00)= 137216 blocks (* 512 bytes + 1024 blocks of 512 bytes) = 70778880 bytes
size /system = 00 50 14 00 (real 00 14 50 00) = 1331200 blocks (* 512 bytes) = 681574400 bytes
begin /cache = 00 68 16 00 = 1468416 blocks = 752353280 bytes
size /cache = 00 F0 03 00 = 258048 blocks = 132120576 bytes
begin /data = 00 58 1A 00 = 1726464 blocks = 884473856 bytes
size /data = 00 00 40 00 = 4194304 blocks = 2147483648 bytes

[Code] ......

I also read somewhere that it is also necessary to edit PMT: in that case I tried to flash with original PMT, edited PMT and without PMT, but cuoldn't notice any difference.

2) Mounting the internal memory and external SDcard on system start natively as EXT4 instead of FAT32

Using my old device (Runbo X5: MTK6577) I had success on mounting the internal storage as EXT4 by disassembling recovery.img and editing /etc/recovery.fstab to change the "vfat" value to "ext4" and reformatting the storage after a successful boot with ne recovery, but on Runbo X6 I get no change to the filesystem after reformatting. By the external SDcard I never had success.

Android :: How Does Emulator Performance Compare To Real Device Performance?

May 23, 2010

I'm looking into writing an Android game, tough I don't curerntly own an Android device. For those of you who own a device, how does the performance on the emulator relate to real device performance? I'm especially interested in graphics related tasks. This obviously depends on both the machine running the emulator, and the specific device in question, but I'm talking rough numbers here. This question is a duplicate, but since that post is heavily outdated, I figured it's irrelevant by now.

KitKat 4.4 :: SDHC Card Keeps Mounting - LG GPad 8.3

May 11, 2014

I have an LG Gpad 8.3 and its running on kitkat. I purchased a 32GB SD card to store some movies on so my son can watch them on our trip. I purchased a samsung 32GB SDHC card. I was under the impression that the HC was just for high capacity and that it would work in my device. I did not format it as I dont have a micro sd to sd card adapter. (have to stop on the way home today and get one). I popped it into my tablet and it recognized it. I actually saved a few pictures and one movie to it to make sure it was going to work. I set it up to transfer about 8 movies from my mac using the android file transfer client. It was all going smooth with only about 2 movies left when the card suddenly became "unmounted" and now it no longer will see it. Is the card toast?

1) if the MSDHC card is even compatible with my device as it doesn't say that anywhere, just microsd.
2)do I need to reformat it with a windows computer to a fat 32 file system and start over
3) did I kill the card by trying to transfer too much at once..(ie large files that would have taken about 1.5 hrs to transfer

General :: Changing App Type Or App Action Type?

Nov 7, 2013

My current situation is that I have a phone with 2 camera apps on it, stock and camera FV-5.

Camera FV-5 is slower than the stock camera, so I only use it in situations which I need manual control.

Whenever I open whatsapp and try to send a photo, the app asks me which camera I want to use, with no option to always use stock. I don't want camera FV-5 to exist as an option, as I will open it if I want to use it.

Is there a way to remove an app from the list so that my phone does not recognise camera FV-5 as a camera?

HTC Desire :: Phone Not Recognize Micro SDHC 8GB Memory Card

Jul 4, 2010

However, I formatted the 8GB card in windows, (to fat 32). (I've might have formatted the partitions and everything as well). But either the Desire or PC cant find my SD card at this point. When I put the 8gb card into my N85 and then connect the N85 to my PC, the computer finds it. My N85 has no problem locating the SD card either. What to I have to do to the SD card to be able to use it with my Desire?

Samsung Fascinate :: Completely Wiping / Formatting An Sdhc Card

Sep 10, 2010

The SD card on my samsung fascinate worked fined until I tried to save a sound from a mms. Then my fascinate starting slowing down... until i removed the sd card. Then the phone ran fine. The problem I have is that I tried to format the sd card both by phone, and by computer. However the phone would freeze up if I insert the card, and my computer is unable to format the card. I tried going to controlpanel//administrative tools/computer management -> disk management, but it was unable to format the card.I even tried downloading something called an "sd formatter" however it appears as though my card is "not supported". Does anyone have a solution on how to return it back to normal? It appears as though normal formatting methods are not working. The card came with the fascinate 16gb, class 2 if that helps at all.

General :: Note 2 - MacBook Made SDHC Card Unreadable?

Nov 10, 2012

I'm loving my new Note 2, and hating my formerly loved Macbook Pro. The latest in a series of fails is this: I have a 64gb sandisk sdhc card that was working in the Note just perfectly, but the macbook could not read it via its card reader (or any other way, really). Like a fool, I tried reformatting it in the mac's disk utility. That failed halfway through, and the card will no longer mount in my Note 2. Thus, I can't format it there, at least in any way I know of.

How I might be able to reformat the card, it would be lovely. I heard about a windows app called bootlce, but I don't have bootcamp set up right now (and my only windows copy is xp, not sure if that would see the card either).

General :: Using Micro SDHC Cards In Tablet Micro SD Media Slot

Most of the specs for tablets which have a micro SD media slot do not give any details about it. I'm generally wondering if a slot labelled "microSD" will accept a micro SDHC card (as opposed to a micro SD card). I know, for example, that some older memory card readers won't read the SDHC cards, even if they have an SD slot. I'm not sure about the tablets however.

Example of some of the tablets that I'd be interested in knowing this about are: Acer Iconia A700 or A210, and Toshiba Excite.

General :: Partitioning SDHC Card Without Card Reader

Sep 8, 2013

I successfully rooted my Samsung Galaxy Blaze phone, installed Titanium BackUp and now would like to send my app data to my nice 16GB SDHC card. The problem is, I can't get it partitioned probably because my laptop's card reader can't really read SDHC cards, even in adapters. It recognizes that the card is there, but then wants to format it and won't format it. I tried using the Mini Tools Partition Wizard, but each attempt failed, claiming I had a bad card. The card works beautifully in the phone, so I don't think that's the problem, especially since brand new cards get the same reaction.

Is there a way to partition the card from my phone? I have good reason to believe that my memory problems have a lot to do with the boatload of email I have saved in GMail, or the fact that Google+ somehow decided I really needed *all* of my photos on my phone, via Picasa (another source of angst and muttering).
