View 1 RepliesAnyone ever had this happen? Downloaded an update after the 2.1 upgrade and I sync'd my contacts with FB. It then deleted all of my contacts. So I deleted Facebook, re-stored all my contacts and reloaded Facebook. However, now it gets as far as installing and it never stops. It just stays on Installing. However, the FB app works fine on the phone itself. Is this a Market glitch? Is there anyway I can purge it from out of my downloads section?

View 5 Replies View RelatedHas anyone been able to get the sdk version 1.5 to work with Ubuntu 9.04 (64 bit)? I have tried the upgrade from and it fails with: Eclipse throws a "An SWT Error has occurred" message then I get a second dialog saying: pingUsageServer failed Android SDK Ping pingUsageServer failed. Anyone else getting this? I tried to do a reinstall of the sdk and eclipse and I have the same issue. Everything worked great with SDK 1.1 R1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It appears as though the emulated GSM portion of the android emulator is not working on my system. After scouring the web I have yet to find anyone with information about what might be causing the problem. When I fire up my avd (any avd), it says "No Service" If I go to Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Network Operators, I get an error message: "Error while searching for networks" I am running Ubuntu 9.04 x64 desktop edition. I have SDK 1.6r1 downloaded. I'm hoping this is a simple thing to fix.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs Ubunto 9.04 compatible with development in Android? Before i ugrade, deploy on device was normal. Now, using 9.04, doesn't recognize it using "adb devices". This below is already set on my ubuntu: 1. Login as root and create this file: /etc/udev/rules.d/50- android. rules.
For Gusty/Hardy, edit the file to read: SUBSYSTEM=="usb", SYSFS{idVendor}=="0bb4", MODE="0666"
For Dapper, edit the file to read: SUBSYSTEM=="usb_device", SYSFS{idVendor}=="0bb4", MODE="0666" 2. Now execute: chmod a+rx /etc/udev/rules.d/50-android.rules

I'm satisfied at the level of work i have done with this theme so i am releasing the initial version to the public.
View 14 Replies View RelatedThis is my first post and it should be an interesting one. Today I was trying to install Ubuntu on my rooted Galaxy S Vibrant. But, When I was moving the Contents of the download to my SD card, I realized that I didn't have enough space. I had a 2 gig SD card and the contents were just over 2 gigs (Plus the SD card really only had about 1.9 gigs) so obviously THAT wouldn't work. So I asked around and someone said that they had dropped the ubuntu contents into the internal memory instead of the SD card on their Moto DROID. Basically I am wondering if it is possible to do the installation process through my 16gb internal memory instead of the sd card. So for example in the guide telling you how to install ubuntu on android where it says to access the files for installation, they wouldn't be in the SD card, they would be in the internal memory.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have the black Rogers HTC Magic I purchased off of eBay with a broken case, I bought the Fender edition replacement case for the HTC MyTouch and with some adjusting it fit nicely. Only problem now is I'm addicted to this game Pocket Legends for my iPhone so I never use my HTC. The HTC Magic has Firmware 1.5 on it and 2.1 just came out, I was going to download it from the HTC website and upgrade to use my HTC now as Pocket Legends just got released for Android but only works on Firmware 2.1. Little problem being that the download from the HTC site is a .exe file. I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 and I don't own a computer in the house that runs windows. What do I do? I just want to have my HTC Magic upgraded from 1.5 to 2.1 and then "root" it as I've heard people say.. To my understanding "rooting" is the same thing as one would do with an iPhone for "Jailbreaking"?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried searching but did not find anything that would help me. I just installed Ubuntu on my laptop to try it out and start learning. I have been using easy tether with my vista with great success. Not sure how to configure Ubuntu to work. I downloaded and installed the i386 package in Ubuntu can't seem to figure out what else to do. Normally I would look for the running program in the bottom right corner and right click and select automatically connect when plugged into usb. However, I don't see easy tether application anywhere, just when I re-run the .deb package, it tells me it is already installed.

To get VNC to work on separate device just change 'eth0' to 'wlan0' or whatever other interface you know how to configure, like usb maybe, in the 'init.sh' script that resides in ~/ on the images you can download from [URL]....
Also on the different roms your storage might be different so just change that to what suites your environment,
After my first launch and exiting the VNC on my laptop (Ubuntu) My phones home button and a few other functions stopped working, a reboot remounts the root and system partitions and it goes back to normal essentially, I haven't noticed any adverse affects after the reboot.
I want to connect to backtrack over usb from Ubuntu on my laptop instead of from my phone. Is there a good way of doing this?
The thing is, I didn't chroot, I mounted the image, copied the contents of '/etc/*' and '/sbin/*' to the '*/etc' '*/sbin' dirs of the mounted image. and then mounted it's (the image's) contents to Androids rootfs '/' then I set up a little script to set up the environment and execute '/bin/bash -i init.sh' and again reset PATH to include /system/*.
Then in the init.sh script I want to set up a way to 'vnc' through' usb to backt4acks desktop. How would I do this?
I shut down my PC (running Ubuntu 8.10, fully updated) overnight and when I booted the following day, 'adb devices' failed to recognize my stock, OTA-updated, RC30 G1. I followed the instructions listed here:

To answer some preliminary questions:
- Yes, I have my phone on.
- It's on a USB 2.0 port.
- Yes, it sees the emulator(s), but not my device.
- Yes, "USB debugging" is enabled on the phone (and I tried toggling it).
- I've rebooted both the phone and the PC.
- I'm using the latest the 1.0_r2 SDK from the site.
- I'm on 64-bit Ubuntu, but it also fails to work in my 32-bit VM (that also previously worked)
During my very short time experience with Android, I found that Linux is most suitable environment for development compared to Windows. Please correct me if I'm too inexperienced. My question is, Which version of the Linux is best suitable. [Redhat/Fedora/Ubuntu..] Please let me know. Is Linux version really matters.

I just wanted to run my first android application, but unfortunately in my AVD i don't see anything, just 'ANDROID_' and not my 'Hello, World' which i tried to display. I don't know where the issues is and I tried to search this Discussion as well. In my AVD Manager I created on AVD named it 'TestDevice' platform 2.2 etc. and even if I start it there I just get the letters 'ANDROID_' and noting else even the home button won't work.

so, i started developing an android app a few weeks ago. my very first one, and the first java code i've written since college (about 8 years or so). it's progressing rather nicely, actually...except that yesterday when i sat down to work, eclipse no longer is stopping at my breakpoints. i've tried everything i could find online...project -> clean, using a different version of the JVM...i haven't been able to get debugging to work.
obviously this is killing my development right now as i have no way to sort out a force close i've encountered.. i'm ready to smash my monitor..even more so because it worked just fine up until yesterday and i didn't change a thing on the development PC.
I have ubuntu 11.10 running as a virtual machine on my macbookpro. When I connect my bionic, the prompt asks if I want to connect to mac or linux. I choose linux, but I cannot see the bionic on my ubuntu. When I go into my phone to manage the usb connection, I have tried storage and pc sync.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to install Ubuntu on my rooted Samsung Infuse 4G. I have consulted several how-to articles here and elsewhere, but after several hours of work I am still stuck on the final lines of code in the terminal emulator app that a YouTube tutorial suggested. Below is the code that I have entered thus far, and the error code at the bottom of the list:
-----------------
Ubuntu Chroot Bootloader v0.1
Ubuntu Bootloader is now installed!
This process does NOT damage Android OS!
[Code].....
I have tried two different installation methods. The first one focused on accessing the advanced shell through Windows Command Prompt. This didn't work because the prompt froze after I typed in "advanced shell" (several attempts brought same results) .
I then tried the "easy" version that involved the terminal emulator app in the place of the command prompt. Assumedly, if I can resolve this last issue without causing any more, I should be able to access Ubuntu through Android VNC. It may be important to note that the time before last when I typed in the above code, I got a different error code. That error read: losetup: /dev/loop1: no such device or address. I don't know what made it change.
