I've had this happen before, but now it's happening again. Whenever I open Advanced Task Killer or Astro, the apps popup a browser window and navigate to some ad (doubleclick) which loads a blank page. If I try to go back to the app, it just does it again. Anyone know how to stop it?

Some of the sites I visit have what I believe to be flash overlays on them. They are usually things like "tell us about your experience on our site" or the like. Not really ads, but they often don't scale right and jump off the screen when I zoom in to dismiss them. Is there an app that can block these, without disabling flash? WebMD is an example of a site that does this, after you load a few of their pages. Theirs stays put, but is an example of the feature.

i usually use Opera but its not working on the current ICS rom I'm using on my G2x, so in every ones eyes what's the best browser that supports Flash and HTML5 in your opinion and why, the current stock browser isn't cutting it for me.

I installed Handcent and SMS Popup and every time I get a text, I get a popup from handcent and a popup from the stock messaging app. I tried everything that was said to fix the problem and all that did was stop the notifications from the stock app from coming up in the status bar. I'm still getting a popup from both apps and would like to just have handcent show up.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using Handcent for awhile and really like it. But yesterday switched to Go SMS Pro to check it out and because I like some of the themes.
But I noticed, unlike Handcent or ChompSMS, it does NOT have a popup window with incoming text on the Lock screen! I like to check out my text and maybe send a quick reply without unlocking my phone.
I can't find the option anywhere in Go SMS Pro, so I think it doesn't have it. I'd like to continue using it, but I think I'll have to go back to Handcent for the Lock screen text.
Any way to have it pop up on the lock screen?
We have got all our own edit boxes etc. so we call the virtual keyboard from SDK 1.5 in the followng way (when the use selects one of our edit/text boxes):

This works fine and even populates our edit boxes automatically upon key entry, we can dismiss it by calling:
inputManager.toggleSoftInput(0, 0);
The problem we have now is that we need to know the size of the virtual keyboard so that we can resize all our popups etc to fit within the area of the screen that is not covered by the virtual keyboard. Is there anyway of getting the height of the default virtual keyboard? I have noticed that android.inputmethodservice.Keyboard has access to the height but I can't seem to find anyway to access this, does anyone happen to know any useful pointers to be able to access the height of the VK?
I have a new Samsung Captivate, I switched over from a Samsung Vibrant, not a drastic switch.
I have installed Handcent SMS installed. I have the Handcent Popup and Notifications set. I have disabled the default messaging app's Notifications and Auto-retrieve. I no longer get notifications from the default but still get a pop up from both Handcent and the default. I still receive both the default app pop up and the Handcent pop up. I never had this problem with my Vibrant. I can't find anyway to stop this and am at a standstill.

You can try as many times as you like to view the page but it will always get stuck.The only way I have found to cure this is to force stop the internet app, then everything is fine again. The phone is new. I've tried clearing the history and the search history, disabling search suggestions, even setting airplane mode in case the phone was fetching this live.
My friend doesn't want the browser to keep any history. He's tired of clearing it!. I think he may use this phone for pron sometimes and when the GF reaches for the phone in the morning to check the weather, fooking autocomplete gives him away. Then he has to deal with being in the doghouse until next morning when she sees it again.

It looks just fine on the standard HVGA phones (320x480), but on HDPI WVGA sizes (480x800 or 480x854) the built-in browser automatically scales the image up; it looks ugly.
I've read that I should be able to use this tag to force the browser to stop scaling my page:
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0; minimum-scale=1.0; user-scalable=0;" />
... but all that does is disable user scaling (the zoom buttons disappear); it doesn't actually prevent the browser from scaling my image. Adjusting the scale factors (setting them all to 2.0 or 0.5) has no effect at all.

Or am I screwing things up by hitting "force stop". e.g. espn app, cbssports fantasy football app, Network app...none of these have a menu choice to "exit" or stop when i am done with them...OR...should i not worry about it 'cause its really not causing much battery drain?

In a nutshell, licensing is tied directly to purchase verification. There is no license server to manage, no key for the user to enter. User experience is basically uninterrupted from normal application purchase.
I'm excited about this, as my paid apps are now reaching piracy rates as high as 90% on some days,with the average somewhere around 75%. For pirated apps, purchase verification (and subsequently licensing) will fail after a certain number of attempts, and pirates will be left with anything from a "buy me" nag, to a disabled app (behavior is configurable).
Android Market is the only supported purchase validation target so far. Others will be forthcoming if demand warrants.
This isn't a perfect solution (I have yet to find a perfect licensing solution), but I feel it is the best balance of security, features, and workflow that I've seen to date.

I've just updated my nexus one to 2.2. Now all of my (own and some from the market) apps throw exceptions and were closed.
It's weird, in the app I'm developing atm, there it displays only my start page with buttons, but when I tap on one button to fire an intent to another activity my app gets closed with an exception.
Yesterday before the update everything worked fine.

How do I stop Google play store and play services from running non stop in the background?? I have my location turned off, and privacy guard turned on, but somehow play services and Google maps can get my location? Google play store runs something called "daily hygiene"and all three of these apps restart themselves when I kill them. I don't need play services running, when only the location part of it is running. When I try and disable autostart, receivers, freeze them, use advanced freeze through ROM toolbox, they either revert back instantly, or as soon as the phone reboots.how to get this crap to stop running when it's not being used, and stop getting location, or whatever other things I'm trying to keep private?
