i usually use Opera but its not working on the current ICS rom I'm using on my G2x, so in every ones eyes what's the best browser that supports Flash and HTML5 in your opinion and why, the current stock browser isn't cutting it for me.

Is there any list which HTML5 features the WebView supports and which not? I am interested mainly in: 1) localStorage/sessionStorage 2) offline manifest 3) web sockets 4) web workers. Prior there was lack of those features (http://www.mail-archive.com/android-developers@googlegroups.com/msg60143.html), but in Android 2.1, first two should be supported, but I am not sure about 3 and 4. Is there any list of supported features or we have to test it on our own?

I create some webpages which I want to make sure that it works in HTML5 browsers. The way I go about the testing is, I first create the webpages in my laptop, copy the folder to my Nexus 7, and open the index.html in the browser.
Now, I heard that Google Chrome is a HTML5 browser. But I am unable to open my html file in that when I open it from File Manager. I tried Dolphin Browser, but it crashes the moment it opens.
So, is there any other HTML5-only browser I can use for this purpose?
I was wondering if there's any free browser that "does" flash and html5 "equally" well...
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using the Note2 with the TW-based Digiblur rom and am having trouble when playing HTML5 player videos in the stock web browser. Any time a video plays, instead of timing out like they are supposed to, the navigation softkeys on the device stay lit while the video is playing. If I pause or stop the video, everything goes back to normal and the keys time out like they are supposed to. The problem is not present in any video player application, including the stock YouTube client.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a mobile web application and all phones don't casue any trouble with the soft keyboard and input fields, but Android does (tested on a HTC One).
Here's the problem:I've got a log in page with a log in form. When and input is selected, the soft keyboard appears. The soft keyboard kicks some elements up, which causes the lay out of the page to break. On iOS and Windows Phone, the soft keyboard kicks the whole page, so basically the DOM or body up to make room for the soft keyboard. The Android browser, however, lets the body stay where it is and only kicks some elements up, which causes the lay out to break.

I haven't used any position fixed, only absolute on the page wrapper, header and header logo.
I have a javascript that plays audio in the browser, using the html5 <audio> tag. It works fine in the iPhone browser, but not in Android. (Testing using a htc desire with android 2.1.) Anyone know why?By the way, I am also trying to enlarge the audio button that shows up in the iphone (the default one is quite small), with no luck so far - would be grateful for any ideas!

Will HTML5 work as a replacement development platform for native apps, or are there certain things that require targeting the native runtime?

I've had this happen before, but now it's happening again. Whenever I open Advanced Task Killer or Astro, the apps popup a browser window and navigate to some ad (doubleclick) which loads a blank page. If I try to go back to the app, it just does it again. Anyone know how to stop it?

Is it possible using the stock browser to not go to a mobile website? When I search certain websites it gives me the mobile version.
is there any way to block this and make it only go to the web version or atleast hide the fact from the internet that I am on a mobile device?
This happens on my LG Optimus G and GS3.
I click a video from say, 9news.com. The video plays in landscape mode with the PLAY button and slider for video time progress.
BUT, when the play button and slider disappears, so does the video. There is sound, but no video.
I cleared my defaults buts the only option after clicking the video to play is:

I had recently switched over from HTC's stock browser to Opera Mobile browser and I'm loving it. It's much smoother and just feels better but something that was really well done in the stock browser is Google's site; really easy to use and looks and feels great. However, in Opera Mobile, it's a really bad, watered-down version that just looks ugly. Is there a way to get the good Google site to work on Opera Mobile?

Basically, i have always viewed my outlook (hotmail) emails through boat, and they have always showed in mobile view which is great, the last couple of days i noticed that my boat will only allow me to view outlook in desktop view now which is horrible to use on a phone, nothin i can do will get ot to switch back to mobile view again, i view outlook a lot and cannot currently view it how i want using boat
I have started to encounter an issue that is annoying me, i am using the latest versoin of boat browser 7.3, i am not sure if this issue is since updating to the latest version or if it's something to do with recently upgrading to android 4.4.2? my phone is a samsung galaxy s4.
All other sites are showing in mobile view, only outlook doesn't seem to want to.
I have created an HTML5 'app' with a width and height 480 x 800 to be used as an android app.
Plan is that this can be scaled down/up for other Android devices to fit screen.
The app runs fine, but it is not being scaled to my device screen size. I have to scroll up/down and left/right on the every screen.
I have tried nearly every variation of the meta viewport tag with no succes (in the index.html file).
my application, flash embedded in android does not function.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOK so Android comes with this great web browser built in, but I've got a problem with it that is driving me nuts... there is no way to change the browser agent string so that it may be detected by websites as a full-featured browser and deliver desktop web page content rather than mobile browser content (You are redirected to ESPN's mobile site for example when browsing to www.espn.com). In Browser Settings I have Mobile view unchecked, but this does not affect being redirected to mobile content websites. I know some people probably prefer the mobile formatted content, but I wish it was at least an option so I could get to the true desktop version of a site if I wanted to.

Is there any way of reading a barcode from your mobile browser? I'm sure I'm missing something here. Every time I find a barcode while browsing on my phone I then have to open the same web page on a desktop / laptop so I can snap it with the barcode reader on my phone.
