HTC EVO 4G : How To Save / Attach Documents?
Aug 23, 2010
I apologize in advance if this has been discusses. I am a long time BB user. Got the Evo a few months ago. The only thing I'd like to do that I have not yet figure out HOW to do is attachment documents to emails. This is very important to me because I am job hunting and need to respond right away when I get or see a job opening. I use GMail. I have my resume saved as a GMail doc. I don't know what to use - can I send via GMail docs or do I need to creak a Quick account?

When sending e-mails, clicking attach only shows predetermined type of files, likes pictures, contact, video, etc.. but there is no option to attach "file" for example something that may be stored in sd card, like an excel sheet or word document or pdf.
Am I missing something or is this not a feature in Android?
Also, Can we also view these three file types when received, save the file, then forward it via different e-mail?

I just bought the full version of this app. I tested it by downloading an excel sheet from an email. But there is no option to save, and it doesn't appear that you can edit it. Is this just a viewer?

I am wondering if there is a way to print (documents, etc.) from my Android phone. I know there are some apps out there, but they seem to either A) require a PC to act as middleman B) work with only certain printers.I am looking for a way to print to a network laserjet printer.

I am probably doing something wrong here but I have Documents to go (free) and I can not view word documents sent to my work e-mail. I keep getting the message that it can not open it because it is a plain text file.

I seem to remember a "My Documents" folder (maybe just documents) on the EVO, however I never really looked inside of it and now I can't even find it. Is the folder "Important"? Will my EVO crash without it? I'm still way too new to this device/OS and this is beginning to frazzle my nerves a little bit due to not knowing this information.

I have several word documents and a spreadsheet or two that are on my PC that I would like to transfer onto my dinc. I would like to view, edit, save changes to these documents and then transfer the edited document back to my PC. I am guessing that I need to purchase a program like documents to go. How do I get the documents currently saved on my PC on to the Dinc? Can I just connect it to the PC and then drag and drop them from the PC into my dinc?

So, does anyone know what the documents to go apk is called? like how kindle is the redding one. is documents to go also a weird one? i'm trying to find it in root explorer so i can rename the unlock key app so it doesn't show up in the app drawer.i guess maybe since i'm using launcher pro i can just hide that app. i'll do that in the meantime until someone gets back to me.

I have a situation where I allow the user to email a number of documents from my app. The problem is that one request may result in the sending of 3 or 4 emails. Ideally I would like to get all the SEND info at the beginning and at a minimum populate all the fields so that all the user has to do is hit SEND for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc email. All is fine except that the email client seems to accept the email address only when typed in manually: Below is a snippet of my email routine:
private boolean emailInfo(File filename, String subject, String body) { Intent sendIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_SEND); sendIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_TITLE, "Extra Title"); sendIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_SUBJECT, "subject"); sendIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_EMAIL, "theem...@comcast.net"); sendIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_TEXT, "body"); sendIntent.setType("text/csv"); sendIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, Uri.fromFile(filename)); sendIntent.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_GRANT_READ_URI_PERMISSION); //startActivityForResult(Intent.createChooser(sendIntent, "Select Mail Client"),101); startActivityForResult(sendIntent,101); return true; }
The email address that I pass via: sendIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_EMAIL, "theem...@comcast.net"); is always ignored and so it has to be manually entered on each email.

Today you can get "Documents to go" for $5.55 (Normally $29.95) but I am not really sure what I would gain over the included Quickoffice ap. I could be wrong but I believe quick office is read only while documents to go allows editing.Anyone else know the difference?

I have quite few books in .doc formats. All the ebook readers for android. I found don't really support .doc. The most of them don't support anything other than this new for me "epub" format. Now I can open the .docs, but would like to read them in a convenient way with the options and extras of an ebook reader software. I found something about online converter from .doc to epub, but would like to have my books accessible without pre-converting.

My current app I'm developing needs to create word documents (.doc) to display full on reports for my users.
The idea is after the user fills in a few text views, the app gathers that data and inputs it in a new word doc, kind of like a generator to generate essays/legal documents.

I have a Motorola Moto G 8GB which is running very low on storage (only about 800mb left). This phone does not take Micro SD cards but it comes with 50GB Google Drive storage. However i haven't used this at all. I am wondering whether i could download android apps and games to google drive, dropbox etc. Games like Real Racing take up about 1GB so i cannot download it to my phone. Can i download it to the Cloud? If this is not possible, is there any way that i could save the app data on the cloud. E.g. The Simpsons: Tapped Out is about 37mb to download off the play store, but then you must download the updates etc which are about another 250mb. is there anyway to save this 250mb on the cloud. Or any other games data.

I've noticed lately that a lot lately that files I've downloaded to my Droid, mostly PDFs though it's happened to a spreadsheet or two, will be viewable at the time, but corrupted and unable to open when I reentered the apparently to view a given file at a later time. Is this something I'm missing, like not closing the file for example? Would that even make a difference?

I think a great feature would be able to cable up to a printer and print documents. Can this be done on android now? This would be a great feature, maybe use openoffice.org for docs and down load drivers for printers?
