HTC EVO 4G :: How Much Time For Booting
May 18, 2010Any input yet from the few EVOs out there what the boot time is? I mean like if you pull the battery and start from scratch?My Blackberry will take 5 minutes which is so annoying.

HTC Desire :: Restarts Constantly - Takes Time Booting
Aug 28, 2010I have a branded Desire, with Telstra software. These last few months have seen my desire constantly rebooting itself. This occurs 2-3 times a day without fail. It not only restarts itself, but takes a good 10-15 minutes to fully boot - constantly 're-rebooting'. I have removed ALL after-market applications, removed all data from the memory card, so it's back to how it was straight out the box (with the exception of user data - contacts, messages etc.). I don't feel comfortable with debranding / rooting the phone. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing the restarts, and a possible way around it? There is no definitive process or application involved in the restarts, it is entirely random.

Oct 14, 2010I have a Desire on Orange and yesterday it decided to reboot its self and then get stuck on the white htc screen, I have not been able to get past this screen since. I recently upgraded to Froyo so I'm not sure if this has something to do with it? Also I would often get stuck in a boot loop before and after the upgrade.
I have looked at rooting it, but I understand you need a goldcard? which I cannot make because I cannot get on the phone.... Is there anyway I can flash it without a goldcard?
I have tried to do a hard reset but this didnt help it is still the same, I also try to get to recovery but the phone just resets.
I would normally take it to an Orange shop and ask them to get it repaired but I cant do this as I replaced the screen a few months back and had to take of the void stickers to get to it.
Android :: Switching-off/re-booting
Jul 21, 2010I was just messsing about and flipping through screens and settings and noticed that the phones uptime was at 9 days. This is because at night I either tend to leave it on wifi or just put it to aeroplane mode.
But I was just wondering if there is any benefit to the phones OS or memory if it is occasionally switched off and rebooted? ( apart from saving a little battery obviously). Or is it perfectly acceptable to just keep it running if everything's ok?
HTC Droid Eris :: Booting
May 7, 2010I dried it in rice and it started up fine after about a day but the trackball was acting like it was constantly pressed down. So seeing as the warranty was already voided because it got wet I decided to open up my phone to make sure there wasn't any rice bits inside. After closing up my phone it now will only boot up to the hboot screen. Holding down the volume down button causes it to check the sd card for files that cant be found. The file list is to quick to really read but they all start with PB00 and end in .zip. A guy at verizon recommended that I try to root my phone but all the directions I've found require you to put your phone in usb debug mode

General :: HTC EVO 3D - How To S-OFF If Phone Not Booting Normally
Jul 8, 2012My phone is HTC EVO 3D, and it's bricking after the ICS update from provider. It hangs on the HTC logo. I read numerous post about flashing it with update or rom, but it's now S-ON and when I try to flash from SD card in recovery it gives me :
Invalid Operation
Rebooting Reasonem-00
As far as I know I have to get it to S-OFF before I can use recovery to flash it, but I tried revolutionary and seems like it require the phone in a working state to function. Currently when I run revolutionary with usb connected on HBOOT-1.49.0008 menu revolutionary won't connect. I don't have CWM either and I don't know how to get it onto the phone without Market Place and S-ON.
Is there anyway to get it to S-OFF so I can move forward to fix my phone with any working rom? Fastboot is connecting no problem (at HBOOT menu) but I don't know if it allows me to flash or turn it to S-OFF.
General :: Samsung Ace Is Not Booting
Jan 9, 2013I have samsung galaxy ace s 5830. I had tried to flash cyanogenmod from recovery mode. I downloaded cm-7.2.0-cooper.zip file. and selected the same in recovery mode. But after successfully installation when I am booting the phone only A N D R O I D letters appears on my screen and my phone does nothing after that. I have also tried removing the battery 2/ 3 times.

Nov 23, 2013I have a HTC Desire V running stock android 4.0.4 ICS. I had not rooted my device or flashed any ROM or any custom recovery or what not. Now, the issue. It all began a month ago when my phone started rebooting itself at frequent intervals, even when I was not using it. At first, it would reboot every 10-12 hours and that did not bother me, so I ignored it. After some time the intervals shortened and the phone used to reboot every 5 hours or so. I tried removing the external sd card, but that did not solve the problem. Then, after some days, it became more intense and the phone started rebooting every hour. At last, 2 days ago, it just turned off and now it is refusing to turn on. Nothing at all happens when I hold the power button or try to charge it. Nothing appears on the screen. I tried removing and reinserting my battery after some time, I tried removing both sim cards(the memory card was already removed) but to no avail.

May 29, 2009My calls to getFromLocationName() always fail the "first" time I start my app. I catch the IOException which has reason:
Unable to parse response from server
Then I make a second call and it succeeds. Once things are "awake" all future calls to getFromLocationName() succeed, it's just that first one, and there is a ton of latency.
I haven't run this on a device yet, just in the emulator. This seems like a network problem, but it is so reproducible I'm thinking I'm not initializing something properly. I'm using Android SDK 1.1.

Jun 7, 2009I just got the magic yesterday and so far I'm loving it. Just have a couple questions about texting. When I receive a text it usually tells me the time in eastern time though I'm pacific. However, my sent messages come up with the right time. This makes it so that threaded sms is kind of useless. Everything is all out of whack. Also, every once in a while it just won't even give me a time and there has been once or twice(after fiddling with it for a bit) that it gave me the right time but it just went back to the wrong time right after. Could this be a problem with the phone or is it rogers' fault? I'm assuming it's getting the time from the network and they have it wrong(meaning I can't fix it) but I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem.
Also, is there any way to make it vibrate when I receive a text? I feel dumb for asking this as it seems like it should be something really obvious but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

After activating the phone, it displayed the correct date and time for my time zone, so I didn't mess around with settings to reset the time, as I would with any other device.
However, I've noticed that the time changes to exactly an hour ahead, before changing itself back several minutes later.
I went to settings > date and time, but 24 hour time and selecting a date format are the only options listed.
I prefer to leave mobile data off when I am at home and can use the wi-fi. Is it necessary to have mobile data turned on, so the phone can receive the time from a cell tower, or is there a way I can set an internal clock?

Aug 7, 2010I was having the waketime/sleeptime problem that many, many folks have reported and my battery life was obviously crap...and took forever to charge as has also been noted. I had already turned off all the auto-update stuff that I did when I first got the phone. Then I read the many posts abut Facebook app being the problem, but when I tried that it turned out that I was still running the old version 1.2, so apparently that wasnt causing it on my Evo.
Not really wanting to do a factory reset, I thought I'd check for other app updates in case one of the other apps had 2.2 bug fixes. Ran a sync thru the AppBrain app, and it found three updates that I hadnt been notified of:
Once those updates were completed, my EVO immediately starting going to sleep as it used to. I watched it for a few hours after the update and it continued to show realistic numbers for wake vs. sleep. My battery was almost depleted at this point, so I powered it off, and did the battery pull for good measure before powering back on and plugging in to charge during the night. This was all late Thursday night. All day Friday my battery performed VERY well...much better than even during 2.1. I had it on charge most of the day while listening to Pandora at my desk. I unplugged it to go home and now checking it this morning, it's now been off charge for 14h 39m, show wake time of 33:44 vs. sleep time of 15:28, and shows 80% battery remaining! This whole scenario makes me wonder if one of those three apps had a similar bug to Facebook. If you have those...you might want to take a closer look.

Jun 24, 2010I am having so much trouble but now I have gotten to the point where it tells me the upgrade went well and is done, but now when I try and get into recovery it just goes back to the Bootloader screen and won't boot into recovery even with the adb reboot recovery command.I tried to run the unrevoked again and it passed but when it does the last reboot to recovery is sits for a second the phone does nothing and then says done.I would have assumed it would have booted to the recovery console at that point?

Jun 9, 2010I 'had' a desire - for a whole 3 days. Then it stopped booting ( white 'HTC' screen ) or boot looped when in 'safe mode'. Spoke to HTC, tried factory reset - they told me to take it back to the shop. I got a refund - the iphone was announced the same day and now I'm in two minds! So, was I just unlucky or is the desire not very reliable? The iphone's I've used seem to be much more solidly made. For the short period I had it I was a little concerned by the inability to back up the apps & stuff externally. I just sort of assumed that I would be using my PC to get apps and stuff and then transfer to the desire - just like itunes. Now, I know itunes is not too popular here (!) but the fact that all my purchases are held on my pc too makes me more comfortable. So
1) Is there any way that the desire can store all it's stuff in a similar way?
2) Now my phone's ( & mem card ) gone have I lost the apps I bought?
3) Can I only by Apps from market via the phone itself?
Sorry for the questions, but I'm not sure whether I want another desire now. I really like the interface but I'm not sure that the overall package is 'friendly' enough. The iphone just looks more polished.
Android :: 2.2 Google Api Emulator Not Booting Up
Jun 2, 2010I just wrote a test app and deployed it via Google Api 2.2 emulator version 8. The emulator is running and the Android logo comes. But after that, no progress. When I checked the log, it shows a Mount Service with message 'waiting too long for ready! What should be done inorder to boot the emulator?

Sep 16, 2009I had the 1.5 android emulator starting from Eclipse perfectly nicely.... until yesterday when it suddenly won't finish booting. I haven't installed anything new (Running it on Windows Vista - i know, uck, but I'm waiting for Win 7 to hurry up), haven't even changed the java code I am trying to run. The emulator starts up, get's to the point where it shows "Android" with the nice lighting effect that goes from left to right over it and then just stays in that state. Last night I tested it by starting it up, going out to the living room, watching two hour long episodes of the first series of Doctor Who, and then coming back in (Essentially giving it 1.5 hours to do it's stuff) - it was still stuck in that state. Any ideas what I did wrong?

Sep 5, 2010I seem to have issues flashing to new ROMs. I finally figured out how to do a logcat and was wondering if you guys would take a look? I just flashed over nonsensikal black 5.4 and when booting up ran the command adb logcat. I copied what I think is most of the text in the command prompt window by selecting mark and pulling the cursor down to cover all of the text, then pressed enter. copied to text file.
