Don't know what's going on, but handcent shows every social contact about 20 entries, then it doesn't recognize contacts in my address book. Something really squirrelly is going on. Have I missed a thread about this?

In my gmail account in my browser (desktop computer), I go to contacts and I see one entry for myself. It has all the info I want in it (I just added my address).When I go to my droid and find myself in the contact list, I see several sections that begin with "from blah@gmail.com" where it's my email address.Why isn't it only one big section instead of looking like it found my contact info multiple times in my gmail account requiring multiple sub-sections? How come I don't see my address in any of these sub-sections?

When I go to send a text message and press contacts, my contacts are there multiple times, but I can't see any differences because they are named the same. For example, my son Adam shows up twice in the contact list in text messaging, but only once when I press contacts from my home page.

By a lot I mean nearly 100 if not more of 1 person, but the contact would be something about facebook related. this was for about 15-20 people that had 100+ entries.HOW I FIXED THIS:people > Menu > View Check or uncheck any of the want or dont want. after you're done, click done and check you're phonebook again to see if it worked

View 7 Replies View RelatedHTC Desire When I tap the 'To' box or the person icon there are multiple entries for each contact. The second person in my contact list appears at least 100 times, others are in there 6, 8 10+ times.Orange Help sent me a text. I deleted it. Took battery out etc. And guess what? No help at all. In the People folder the entries are there in their singular form. Anyone any ideas for resolving this? BTW - the contact only receives one message!!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got my contact numbers transferred from my blackberry into my evo. About a week ago I got the low memory space message on my phone. I looked on applications, and it says my contact storage is 313mb!! I counted my contacts and I have about 100. I think 313mb for contact storage is insane. Other people with about the same contacts have about 8 or 9mb of storage used. Was something done wrong when they transferred the contacts?

1. What exactly is going on when facebook messing up contact lists?
2. I have heard it mentioned a few times that the widgets for facebook and twitter are bad on the battery? i've noticed since the update this morning late last night that the LED notifications are now showing even when i'm charging my phone. you can choose amber or green LED blinks too.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought the Captivate 2 days ago and this is my first Android phone. I have tried to sync my contacts and FB together (not all of my FB contacts as I have 500+) but just the main people I talk to on a regular basis and it has created duplicate entries in my contact list. I know this not an operating hinderance to the phone but it is just annoying.
What is the point of syncing when it just created more entries? It also has duplicates in the drop down to: part when I create a new text message. Should I take all of my contacts off my SIM and copy them to the phone? Is there a way to have one entry for my contacts including the FB pic? I am importing my contacts from hotmail to gmail now and hoping this might help.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter backing up my contacts to google, and synching with it, I now have two entries in my people app for just about every person. It's not a problem in the people app itself, since I have that set to only show google contacts now. The problem is in handcent, as it still shows both entries (phone and google apparently). I've looked in the settings for handcent, but I haven't run across anything for contact lists. Is there any way I can get it to just show one listing per person?

I have some contacts that are duplicates because they were put in the phone before I was able to get the exchange sync set up resulting in an entry for exchange and an entry for phone when in the "People" area.

1 - how do I change the alert notification for my calendar? Originally it was just the standard alert. When I view the settings there was the option to use the standard droid alert of use a ringtone. So, playing around I cheeked use a ring tone. It brought me to a directory(?) or folder with 4 songs that I had downloaded using railio(sp) ringtones. Now that's the only place I can get to for ALL alerts and ringtones. Even for my contacts it goes to the 4 songs I downloaded from railio ringtones and I can't navigate anywhere else.
I have gone into manage applications and uninstalled the ringtone program, but still can't get out of that spot for my alerts and ringtones. It's driving me crazy!
2 - My contacts have multiple entries for one person.
How can I delete the multiple entries for a contact? When I edit the contact information for a person I see 3 - 5 duplicate entries for one contact. When I first got my droid I synced with 2 google accounts - I didn't know what I was doing --- so, the information under one contact is repeated many times.
When I get a reply to a text I sent / replied to, the popup for Handcent shows the first message in the string of texts. I would prefer that it showed the most recent text (the incoming text). Is there any way to change this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know there have been sporadic complaints of random things happening (or not happening) since the update this week. So far, I myself haven't had any complaints, but I just noticed that if I get a call WHILE I'm on a call, only the phone number of the new caller shows up, and none of their contact info. I remember the phone showing me everything before, i.e. name/caller ID photo etc. Is anyone else having this problem or find a way to fix it? I don't think I've reset it by turning it off and pulling the battery yet, not that I know that would do any good, and I'm not doing a factory reset. I've got a ton of apps I'd rather not lose.

I've put the SIM card in the new handset and it seems to have recognized some of the numbers but as far as I can see its only showing one number per contact whereas my W995 let me save a few different numbers for each contact (work, home, mobile etc) - is there any way to get the HTC to recognize this without keying them all in again?

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I have a good amount of contacts in my phone and never do I have a problem with responding to texts even if the person isn't in my phone book. I have one contact that for whatever reason I can't respond to with Handcent. When she texts me I reply normally and it says there's no contact, so I have to go into the stock program and talk to her thru it. Has anyone else experienced this before? honestly if it was someone I talked to regularly I would have to go back to stock but I rarely talk to this person but when I do it's kind of annoying, and I forget and start using handcent so I always have to cut and paste things.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded the new updated version (complete with adverts)of Handcent to try it out as I hearing such glowing comments on it. When I open the programme I see all the threads but all I have is the mobile numbers and No Contact names associated with them.
Could someone kindly tell me what I have to do to get the names up please. I have been looking through the settings but cant see anything, do I need to make sure the stock messaging app is unticked first to get the names to appear?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter one of the recent handcent updates, I entered a number to send a text message. This number was not in my contacts. I entered the number, and it changed the number at the top to a persons name, who isn't in my contacts, and does not have the same number. They are my friend on facebook however. Is handcent linking with facebook? How do I turn this off? It's telling me this conversation is with the wrong person as of now, and I don't know if it's even sending to the right number.
