How do you access the user's Google Account Id / username in code (pre-2.0)? I am building an application that will call a web service to store data and I want to identify the identity of the person sumitting the data.
If no user identity information available (pre 2.0) how about the ability to access phone identity (pre 2.0).
I can login to Gmail.com on any desktop/mobile browser however whenever I try to add a Google Account on my phone, I get this error: Your username and password do not match. (To recover your account information, go to URL.... on your computer.)"
I have tried changing the password but its still the same. I know its not a password issue as I can login to google.com on my desktop and laptop.I also went to this site and tried to add a Google account but it did not work. Tried setting up a different Google ID and it worked right away. So it looks like there has to be some issue with my Google ID.

A month ago I asked this question. Even with a Bounty nobody came up with a better answer then using the Imei of the device to identify the user and then sync the phone with the server.
Now I stumbled across the Android AccountManager classes. Would it be possible to use this classes to store a username and a password that could be accessed after a delete/reeinstall cycle of my application?
If yes how would I do this? And would that require the user to enter its keystore credentials every time the application runs and the keystore isn't opened already?
Is it currently possible for developers to access account credentials, for specific services, namely Google Reader?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just flashed my Sony Ericson Xperia Play with a custom kernal and ROM. I am attempting to connect to the google play store but it wont let me use my yahoo account. When it says to enter my account it asks for a google account and my yahoo account is currently associated with google, i have been able to download apps for my phone through this account before (Before flashing the phone).
It's not the flash which has made it impossible to use my yahoo account but the fact that i need a gmail account now to download apps. In the past i have been able to use my yahoo account but i cannot get it to work.
How i can log into the play store with my yahoo account? Is it impossible to access the play store with a non gmail account or that you cant have a google account associated with a non gmail email address i will post screenshot for proof.

I used to have two Google accounts, one private and one for work. Unfortunately, I have been fired a month ago and I have no more access to the latter. I believe it is still active but they changed the password and I just can't login.
The problem is that all the apps registered in my Google Play under this account are not available for uninstall or update. Each time I try, I get the message "Authentication is required. You need to sign into your Google Account."
The apps work well on the Android phone but I can't manage them. Moreover, I can't reinstall apps that I uninstalled using the disabled account. All the apps that have been installed with my private account are managed just fine.
I am using a Samsung S2 (GT-I9100) with Android 2.3.3. Google Play Store v 3.7.15.
how I can get the control back on those apps?
So my friend wanted to check his email and added an account, and I have since deleted the account. But now whenever i type in a username that starts with the same letter(s) his username comes up by autofill. Anyone know how to delete that without doing a factory reset?

Go to the GMail app, select add account, fill in the metrics and then...... "Needs to communicate" message for ~ 3 minutes, then bombs out with - "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". 3G is fine, on a wifi connection that is fine, web browser works fine..... Google Apps account works fine.

I have two gmail accounts, each with their own Google Voice account. Account 1 is my primary account, and I have even ported my phone number to this account. I'm using this account on my phone (nexus 5), and have 0 issues with this account. All texts, voicemails, etc come through with no issues. Account 2 is largely not used. I would like to use account 2 on my nexus 7, for texts, and maybe making calls if I don't want to give out my real number to someone.
My issue is when I'm logged in to account 2 on my nexus 7, I'm getting text notifications for account 1 on my nexus 7. But if I were to open Google Voice on the nexus 7, once GV refreshes, the texts disappear. It doesn't happen the other way around. If I get a text/vm to account 2, it does not notify my phone, which is logged in to account 1.
I've checked the settings in both GV accounts, and neither account is linked to the other, or to send copies of texts/vm notifications to the other. How do I stop notifications from GV account 1 to stop displaying on account 2? I have cleared cache, data, uninstalled the app. The only thing i have not done, is a reset of the nexus 7.
I was initially logged in to account 1 on my nexus 7, but I would have thought removing the app from the device would have essentially erased all traces of the account 1 on the nexus 7. I even signed out of hangouts, to make sure Google was not treating this like my phone, and sending it both places.

Once I got my refurb phone I switched my gmail account on my phone to the one I used to purchase the app since my school gmail account lacks some features but my app was not available to download. Being more specific I wanna give the user the ability to search for keywords, use the Gdata api to search for products within googleproducts for these keywords and parse the xml that I get back. I know how to parse xml files via an org.xml.sax.helpers.DefaultHandler but I guess that I am not suppose to use such a Handler but rather rely on the Gdata api to parse the xml for me. My Problem is that I dont know how to integrate the api in my App. There is a similiar topic within stackoverflow (hier) but I am not at all satisfied with the answer they gave. Just giving someone the information to "look at our recently announced version 2.1.0-alpha of the GData Java library which supports Android" doesnt quite help me to integrate gdata in my app. I would very appreciate if someone could give a step-by-step guide how to integrate the gdata api within my app, including code examples to make a search-request and parsing back the results from google products.

Anyway, I'm curious about how to test the use of this API in an end-to- end fashion. One very tricky aspect of the account manager is its ability to query the user before granting access to a particular account. I can't seem to find any mention of how to "un-grant" permission for a particular application to use an account. Does anyone know how this is done?
Also, has anyone figured out what "authTokenType" is supposed to represent?Using "android" seems to work for getting a google.com auth token, but it makes me nervous that I have no idea what this property is really intended for. I could be building in a breaking point.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI use Google hosted apps with my own domain for e-mail, calendar, chat, etc. and I use the e-mail address from that with my main Google account as well. So, both my Google account and hosted apps account use the same address. I had no problem setting up my account on my phone when I got it Friday, but I've been running into a few issues. First off, every time I try to buy an app in the Market, it asks me to set up a Google account to associate it with, even though I already have. Also, when I try to use Google Listen, it asks the same thing. Is there a way around this, or will I have to create a separate Google/GMail account?

Direct access to the Calendar on the handset is for some unknown bizarre reason UNSUPPORTED and not documented and untestable unless you have EVERY single device and ROM. Therefore blind development, cr4p for users and cr4p when you have to blame Google.
Aren't we developing apps to help users with their day-to-day things? Accessing and creating events in a calendar ON THE HANDSET would sem like a logical day-to-day thing to do?
Anyway so I turned to the GDATA API. However the documentation bears no resemblance to anything available for the android SDK. So my question, how do I find the users available Google Calendars and then create an event in one of those calendars from an Android app?

So I cancelled my all access trial, I don't find it useful to me, even though I cancelled it, I'm still seeing radios, and other all access features. Will it disappear from my Google Play Music after it's supposed to expire (06-07-2014)? My account type still lists as All Access...
