HTC EVO 4G :: Can Change Contrast ?
Nov 25, 2010
Can I change the contrast on the htc evo? Is there an app that allows this? I am trying to accommodate a more vivid picture. I'm referring to the overall contrast of the phone, not the pictures.

I've been running NovaLauncher on my Nexus for a long time and love it, so when I got my Nook HD+ the first thing I did was load up NovaLauncher. I love it on the tablet, too, but when going into settings the right pane for settings has a tan/gray background with white lettering and I can't read the fine print. How to change the background color?

I have looked around different forums hoping to find an app or setting info which allows to modify the screen color, contrast and Gamma . I haven't been able to find any .
I have a Vega Tegra2 replica which has high screen brightness ( faded black colors ) and I am running Vegacomb 8.1 on it.
if such an app or modification exists?

I figured out the method to shifting through the contacts contract but now get a weird error on the intent. I think I have the right manifest.
@Override // the class that is called every time the user clicks something
protected void onListItemClick(ListView l, View v, int position, long id) {
// TODO Auto-generated method stub
super.onListItemClick(l, v, position, id);
// the reflections of a applications intent to perform some activity
// in this case a call action to dial the phone
Intent i = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_CALL);
// cursor of the selection Cursor c = (Cursor) mAdapter.getItem(position);
// get some info from the cursor
String contactId = c.getString(c.getColumnIndex(Contacts._ID));
String IsPhone = c.getString(c.getColumnIndex(Contacts.HAS_PHONE_NUMBER));
//if the selection has phone numbers if (Integer.parseInt(IsPhone)> 0) {
Cursor phones = getContentResolver().query(Phone.CONTENT_URI, null, Phone.CONTACT_ID + "=" + contactId, null, null);
while (phones.moveToNext()) { String strPhoneNumber = phones.getString(phones.getColumnIndex(Phone.NUMBER)); System.out.println(strPhoneNumber);
i.setData(Phone.CONTENT_URI);
} } //i.setData(strPhoneNumber);
// Causes the dialer to appear on the screen and initiate the phone call //startActivity(i);
} <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="hello.android" android:versionCode="1" android:versionName="1.0">

I have a notification that starts my activity and passes a messages using the intent's putExtra() function. The message is then displayed to the user in the activity's onCreate function. When the application is restarted due to a orientation change, the message is shown again as it is still in the intent's bundled data.
How can I remove the extra data?
I tried the following:
Bundle bundle = getIntent().getExtras();
if (bundle.getBoolean("showMessage")) {
// ... show message that is in bundle.getString("message")
// remove message
bundle.remove("showMessage");
}
But the message will still be shown after the orientation changed, seems like the intent used is not the one I changed, but the original one. The only workaround I found is to save the showMessage additionally in onSaveInstanceState(). Is there another way? Or is this the way to go?

I have the following linear layout. What I don't understand is if I set the background to another image, the padding information are reset. Is there a way to prevent this?
<LinearLayout android:id="@+id/aPanel"
android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:background="@drawable/bkground"
android:paddingLeft="15dp" android:paddingRight="15dp">
<!-- some children here -->
</LinearLayout>
I see the position of the children get shifted when I change the backround drawable of the linearlayout 'aPanel'.

I have an Android project that branched into three different applications, app-1, app-2 and app-3, that apply some customizations. Currently there is a lot of code duplication, making maintenance a nightmare: do the changes in one of the branches, and then merge the other two.So we create a library project, named app-core, that factors out most of the duplicated code. So far so good.When I launch this into an emulator where the application was already loaded (before the refactoring), I get this exception:Re-installation failed due to different application signatures.A different signature? But I just added a line in the .classpath to link to the app-core Java project!

OK, so everything was working fine earlier, I could change to whatever wallpaper I wanted, static or live. Now the wallpaper will only change when I choose a live wallpaper. If I choose a static image as my wallpaper, the wallpaper changes to an image that looks like the HTC Sense live wallpaper, only it doesn't move. Any ideas on what's going on and how to fix it?

Okay, I do need an idiots guide here! Not rooted before, so have no idea. Anyway I have unfortunately a T-Mobile G2 Touch, luckily it is unlocked. Right now simply what I need to do is get VillainROM on there, however while trying Installing Custom ROMs - VillainROM Wiki.
I have found that the Flashrec doesn't work! It says backup failed: could not run command. I have followed the instructions on that tutorial to make a goldcard, what do I do now?

Without rooting the phone is their a way to change back to 2.1? I do enjoy some of the features of 2.2 but i just dont think its worth keeping flash if it means my Pandora sounds like crap. Also the music player stop when using Navigation everytime it talks.
I hope something changes and we get an update but with the long process HTC and Sprint have to go through to get an update out i am not very hopeful. Also from what i read its a problem that is Google's fault not HTC/Sprint. So the fix has a long way to go before we get it.
So if anyone has a way to go back to 2.1.

All of the marketing and news literature out there shows it with that giant "analog-flip-clock" at the top. I just don't like it. Is there a way to change that out? I figure that there is a way to do it, but just wanted to make sure. I was hoping to make the home screen a little more sleek, without the virtual "phone" button on it, and without what look like virtual + - buttons.
I'm asking because I assume that this functions the same as other HTC phones, and I've never owned one. I'm thinking that somebody who has owned a T-Mobile HTC or something could answer.

What I want to do is to change the default Portrait to Landscape.I have one AVD setup using fwvga device, I went to Setings -> Display, only saw Auto-rotate screen checked (by default), unchecked, it does not work.
I'm testing out a web app. It works but if the orientation changes to Landscape it would work better.
