Android : More On Dreaded Market Install Failures / Can Resolve

Sometimes Market fails up install application updates. The download is successful, but the actual installation fails. There is probably something in the logcat, but it doesn't help users.
I just had this happen to me on my development phone (I use one to develop, and update another phone from a different account to verify the update).
After this failure, Market lists the application as not installed, although the existing version (if there was one) actually stays installed.
I was able to resolve the issue by uninstalling the application via Settings -> Applications, then re-installing through Market.

Mar 27, 2010I'm sure all you modders know this, but as a newbie to the behold 2 i wanted to share this with all the other newbs. If you want to run your phone twice as fast without rooting, just install PandaHome [free] from the Market. It takes the phone from being utterly dead to very usable. I read there is another home replacement but its not free like pandahome. I like the behold 2 but I'm not sure why samsung decided to destroy a good thing. This could have been a very successful model had they just left the OS alone and not included bloat software.

Jun 13, 2010I text. A lot. It's very irritating when the keyboard on the Eris can't keep up with how fast I type. I'll be finished with my message, and the last few words take 1-3 seconds to show up, which is fine I suppose. However, when I make some errors, the auto-correct feature doesn't work because apparently my typing speed is too quick for it.
Everything works fine when I type slowly, but that's annoying too.
I barely have any apps besides the stock ones. In running services I only have the calendar, Google Voice, Touch Input, and BatteryTime running. I don't use any app killer, I have animations and haptic feedback turned off. I don't know what else I can do to speed this phone up.
This problem, the lag in switching from portrait to landscape, and the lag with calls is really making me want to sell my Eris and purchase the Incredible, or I may wait until the "Moto Droid X" releases in July....or is that just a rumor?
HTC EVO 4G :: Appbrain Fast Web Install Broken For All Appbrain Versions
Nov 22, 2010I recently read that AppBrain updated their app to v5.0 but that the Fast Web Installer that pushing apps to your phone from Appbrain.com WITHOUT having to go through the Market is broken with the v5.0 update because of changes with the Market's recent update.

QUESTION: does the Fast Web Install still work with earlier versions of AppBrain?? I have kept v4.8 installed on my phone but I'm having a problem with the Fast Web Install. I'm not sure if I'm experiencing a temporary issue or if the Market update is affecting ALL versions of the Appbrain fast web push?

I've filled out the proxy fields in the Settings area, but am never ask my username or password. I tried the <username>:<password>@proxyurl method, which doesn't work either.

Samsung Moment :: Can't Install Launcherpro / Get It To Work?
Jul 26, 2010I have a Samsung Moment, it's running the Radioactive Froyo rom(so it's rooted)...but I cant seem to download Launcherpro. I have tried to download it straight from the market...NO DICE! I went to the launcherpro website downloaded it straight to SD and used OI Installer AND Appinstaller to install...NO DICE! All I keep getting is an error message that says "install unsuccessful". Launcherpro's FAQ says that if this happens then you have an android OS that is not compatible, but says nothing on how to fix or what to do about it.
Searched high and low for help in other threads, but most of them focused on once the app was already downloaded (including the launcherpro website), I cant even get this one installed, I'm really stumped...and I dont want to be "that guy" who didnt do a search in order to find an answer to a simple problem, but honestly, I've been trying for two days to fix this.

Feb 11, 2012I am trying to install Clock Work Manager on an "AllWinner A10 CPU Cortex A8 1GHz Android 2.3". I have installed Rom Manager and Rom Manager Premium but when I click the install ClockWork thing it sais "confirm your phone type" The phone type listed is "Android B1" After clicking Confirm it comes back and sais its an Unsupported Device at this time and asks if I have manually installed it. I purchased this Tablet on Amazon.

Android :: Domain Name Won't Resolve To An IP Address
Sep 27, 2010I am working on a program that will connect to a time server (time- a.nist.gov), retrieve the timestamp, and place it in a text field.
However, when I create the socket, I get an UnknownHost Exception for time-a.nist.gov
1. put the <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET" /> tag right before the </ manifest> tag. I did this, and the change is still there.
2. use the static InetAddress.getByName() function to convert to an IP address (this still throws the same exception)
When I pass the IP address (129.6.15.28) to the socket constructor, the program works fine. It only breaks when I use the actual domain name.
I have written this program in Java and it works perfectly fine.

Jun 9, 2010While I'm at work, I like to listen to Pandora radio. However, with my Evo connected to the wifi network, Pandora will work for a while and then crash. When the crash happens, there's nothing I can do to get Pandora working again without rebooting the phone. I've tried killing the process from inside a terminal emulator and also from the Settings->Applications->Pandora->Force Quit, neither of which has worked. As long as I use 3G, it works fine. Anyone have any ideas?

Syntax Error is caused by missing quotes, but cursor returns null anyway.
